I got it but it doesn't really specify what you do... I sent it in out of curiousity...

That gives rise to a thought - Alou was Detroit's bench coach last year and they sucked. Baker's old team so far is playing better without him. Pinella went from 116 wins (and not even making the world series) to missing the playoffs to a really poor team. A manager alone doesn't make all the differecne in the world. A big name manager doesn't mean a thing per se, IMHO. We need someone who can motivate this team that seems to have potential and doesn't show it and a name alone doesn't do that.

If we change, I say Wally Backman. He is from our minors, but he has won in our minors and he knows the players and they have played good ball for him.

not s*** heads, wsc, not at all, my friend. When I'm not on the hopeful side, then there is a problem since I'm usually the last optimist standing. You know that I have never once on any board posted a "fire ______" post or a "[sox player's name] sucks" thing. Last week we played poorly. Ok, bad weeks happen. Then Sunday Garland wins with the Sox only getting 3 hits. That could be the sign of a good year if we win on those days - but still the offense lags, we are not hitting. Frank walks 3 times and we can't move him over even once? As far as I am concerned, Frank is the only batter we have playing smart. He's not hitting, but at least he is batting smart and getting on base. Something has to change. Loaiza is not going to go undefeated - at least no opne has in history - without him we are 4 under. And he has a history of not doing well in the 2nd half of a season. So normally I say ok, someone else will pick him up, its a team game. But this team isn't picking anyone up. You know it isn;t that we are one game over, iot is how we have gotten here, and it has been playing some reallly lackluster ball. I am normally Mr. Optimistic. And I get pissed off at hell at all the negativitiy and you know that, we have posted on the same boards for a while. But the team cannot stay in these doldrums too much longer.

Is it me not noticing or have you not been around lately? I kept waiting for your draft day comments and AFC East evaluations as well as your usual insightful baseball stuff -

At least we need to do that. Our line up should be hitting much better, and the hitting coach has got to be held responsible. And if that doesn't work, I am beginning to change on my mind on other coaching staff changes...

Wise words, Jason. In 2001 when the season started we (and I include me) blamed Clayton, Ramirez and Baines. Then when two of those were gone, it was all blame Clayton. In 2002 it was all Clayton's fault. Now Aaron is taking the brunt of it. Hell, they all have been sucking to various degrees. By focusing the blame on one player, we not only do wrong to that player but we stop looking at the bigger problems, or that they involve more players. We are 1 game over 500 and we should we more. No one can tell em that if anyone else played CF we would be 10 over. I can't think of a game that can be pined on Aaron. This team has been doing bad as a team, AR included, but to make him the scapegoat is unfair. And at least he has played good D.

Rex, thanks for posting that. These words jumped out at me: "I'm homophobic. It's easy to be scared of something you don't know anything about. " Does it take anyone special to figure out the next step... learn something? And until you know something, shut up? This is a textbook example of a guy saying "I don't know what I am talking about but let me slam people" and then slam people.

AR should have known better than to fed the crowd. It just amazes me that people want to yell insults at other people, and especially so-called fans. Trashing one's own team, I simply do not understand. The loudest ruckus we had was the guy who sits behind me was vehemently opposed to honoring Cal Ripken and made that known.
-
we have some real asshole fans. No one says that s*** in the upper deck because we'd throw throw them over the side.
-
you make all good points but what happend in CF with AR yesterday? Were "fans" really giving him s***? What happened?

it's a bigger and different font than I've ever seen here before but I can read it easy -

I never got a "welcome". Mr. Eye, welcome to soxtalk! or soxnet! or whatever the hell we call this place! I'm still waiting to meet you - I think it was in Milwaukee in 2001 in July when Rocky Biddle pitched, a bunch of us went and somehow we never hooked up. I guess maybe you being the Eye saw me first and took off -

Welcome to Soxtalk! Or Soxnet! Or whatever the hell the name of this place is!

Yes..... AIDS has been traced back to monkeys. But it was not introduced into the human population by means of man having sex with a monkey like HSC said. The polio vaccine used on the indigent people's of Africa, believe it or not, had tissues and cells taken from the chimpanzee, I believe, because it was cheaper. CK, I did not know that, and it makes sense. I knew it jumped somewhere around Rwanda but that was all I knew about that. Thanks for the info! Makes you think about all the animals that are used in vaccines...

I am naturally optimistic about the Sox but I hjave real concerns about the hitting. Last week and this week we haven't hit at all. Mags has always been the most likely to hit into a double play and that hasn't changed in all the years. PK usually sucks hitting wise in May and here we are. The negativitiy gets to me big time and the drum beat to fire JM get to me. But I am just beginning to wonder... this team is too good to be playing this way.
-
Hey Clueless, the majority of people with AIDS in the world are straight. Denial isn't going to help your stance. Sexually trasmitted diseases have been around forever. If some gay people getting AIDS is a judgment on being gay, what is it when straight people get it, or when straight people get syphillis? Maybe disease is just disease and a judgment on anyone. need to know more about AIDS: AIDS website

That is my concern, exactly. And I don't want Von Joshua back and after the shots he took at the Sox when he was fired, he ain't coming back anyway. But even in our win on Sunday we only had 3 hits. We can't go on like this - this is not 1906 when the Hitless Wonders won games, or 1959 when the Go Go Sox manufactured runs.
-
he started out the 79 season managing the Tigers and was 53 games into the season when Sparky became available - so they fired Moss to get Anderson. Everyone knew Moss got a raw deal and the Tiger owner was apologetic, but he said how many shots at a Sparky Anderson do you get. I have no clue as to what happened to Moss after that.
-
when the Tigers hired Sparky Anderson in 1979 they fired Les Moss with a 27-26 record - Moss coached the Sox for the balance of the 1968 season, by the way

MB is pitching ok - we aren't hitting, we aren't scoring. It was not a great outing last night by any means but 3.74 era ain't bad - the offense has to come through. And at least one of MB's losses this year was when the Sox were shut out - hard to win when the team doesn't score, or only scores 1 run.

facts need to go on record for the others who are who reading, not posting, who might think that stuff is right if it is not corrected - as far as Em goes - that is a discussion not for this place but Em and I are both down with it dawg - unless you really want me to do my extended discusssion of Em's lyrics and supposed homophobia, just trust me that I have studied all of his stuff quite extensively and I don't see it there - and it was addressed in 8 Mile in several ways - while Em hasn't done a benefit yet for Triangle (the leading Michigan g/l/b/t org), the folks in Michigan who know Em best know he is ok on the issue it's actually Dre who said a few unkind things, but Em's cool
-
well, ok, straight people having sex with monkeys - damn those straight people! the same people who keep sending out all that bestiality porno spam - not sure if the exact origin is known yet, but it was with the great apes or chimps - now that is what I call perverted sex
-
okay so you force me to the truth. Gay men spread it much faster because? They have way more unprotected, multiple parthers. The facts are there, its a gay man disease. The overwhelming majority of people in the world who have AIDS have received it via heterosexual contact and yet you call it a gay disease. Southern Africa is experiencing an epidemic via heterosexual transmission and you say it spreads among gays faster? Incredible. The rest of your stereotypical statements are at the same level as your biological knowledge. And all the sexually transmitted diseases that are conveyed by heterosexual transmission - syphyllus, gonerhea, and other assorted STDS that cause death - these are what exactly?
