  1. The Bears would be stupid not to go after Kordell Stewart. The Bears need to fill 3 qb slots. Kordell has been a winner. that's one slot filled. Then draft the rookie of your choice but no rookie is leading you to the promised land. And Kordell plays a type of game you don't see in the Bears division. I am not so sure that Carson Palmer is anythig more than next years Cade McNown. With luck he may be a Joey Harrington. But the Bears need two more qbs. Kordell should be one of them, if available - unless anyone thinks Chandler and Burris arfe the salvation of the Bears.

He has got to get the money to pay a good criminal defense lawyer. I work in a law office in Michigan and our laws differ, but it is safe to presume that 5 pounds is not going to be considered "for personal use." The good lawyer can tell you if in Illinois you have the equivilant of what we have in Michigan. We would try to get him under two different provisions of the law. One allows a kid with no priors of any kind to go on extended probation and if he stays clean, the charges are dropped. the other is a specific drug statute that allows basically the same type of extended probation. Howver, 5 pounds is a lot of grass. The prosecutor may kind of want some info in exchange, such as exactly where your friend came up with 5 pounds. This is no time for honor among thieves. Your friend was a dumb ass to get involved with an amount of this size and while his unsavory companions may not want him talking, it is your friend's ass who will be in prison otherwise. And it depends on what county and how hard ass your states attorney is in that county. Key: pay the big $$$$$ and get a good criminal defense attorney. If probation is not possible (given the size of the bag) with good lawyering and luck and cooperation your guy might be sentenced to 1 year or less which should keep in the county jail which is a lot better than prison. Good luck.
  4. I am amazed that Selig's daughter, Wendy Selig-Prieb is on this committee. Selig is really micro-managing this and obviosuly the committee is just a front for Selig. And what is very curious is that the probable law suit by the former owners who felt the got screwed, if that lawsuit goes forward under Canadian law, with the discovery process, that Selig's fingerprints are everywhere on the screwing of those burned investors. And since they have Seagrams money to back them up, I don't expect them to go away. Could turn out to be the most interesting baseball legal case since Curt Flood's case and the collusion case.
  5. I think Milwaukee has strengthened itself more than that minor league north side team has. It would be great to see the brewers finish ahead of that team.

By the way, in the past month, two different guys have beaten the s*** out of two women that I consider family, one of them also threatening other women that I consider family, In that I work in a law office and the attorney does what I ask when my family is involved, and I know the judges, and I know the prosecutors, and they know me, and I can draw up court petitions and orders very, very fast, and deliver them to the judge personally and then get them served, you want to know what can happen to a guy who hits a woman -- it just doesn't go over well with the system. Never, never, never hit a woman. If nothing else it is a scum thing to do. And there may always be someone out there like me who will consider that woman family and have the judge's clerk on the line within minutes.

No human being should hit another. No man should ever hit a woman. Whatever other reasons for that, there is the very practical one that the male will end up in arrested. Psycho, a woman ever hits you, you walk away. None of the self-defense crap. Walk away. Be smart. Finley is smart, and that is impressive.
  8. Why CLee gone? Valentin, sure, is overpaid now and I am sure will be gone with whoever ends up as shortstop - Jimenez, I presume. Borchard comes up mid late season, and we have an OF of Mags, Borchard and CLee which is an awesome hitting trio of outfielders. What is the thinking here, and as always, I ask to learn what others think, not to argue.
  9. I'm sorry we didn't sign Ritchie for a reasonable price. I agree with whoever posted that he might eat up NL hitting on a team with no pressure. And for sure we need to sign another pitcher now.

Well, zach23? RPS? I am waiting for someone to say I am not annoying at all but very charming and most wonderful....

Hey buddy I hardly even pay attention during the regular season, all it is, is set up for the playoffs anyhow, and I just happened to find the game on tv last night flippinbg through the channels. Don't they play each other on Wednesday at the United Center? Should be quite a game. The last two have been very even. And at least you talk to me this way! Haven't seen you on here or MLB boards lately and your humor is missed. Do we have hostility towards the Avs in common?

Yeah, and Hundley would be catching for us too with Evans. I have been unimpressed by Evans in LA.

Did Venafro hurt us in 2002? I have no recollection. But if he is any good, just as soon see him change leagues where we don't have to see him - we aren't playing Atlanta this year, are we? Or should I quit being lazy and check the schedule...
  14. cwsox replied to mac9001's topic in Pale Hose Talk
in other words, never. As far as Liefer, I ask to learn, not to argue, because I haven't seen enough of Liefer actually play - why are you all down on him?
  15. Not until KW does anything as stupid as Schueler (sign Navarro over Clemems). Or depends on how this season goes, and why.
  16. cwsox replied to a post in a topic in Pale Hose Talk
well then do the math. I want to be 20 years younger.
  17. You don't often see an Italian name and a Greek name coupled like that. That shorter name will sure come in handy when he has to fill in all those little boxes with his name on the SATs and ACTs. I am sure Mike Dep would settle for a lot less porn than zach23 would. And while he might want the ice cream, zach goes for that deep fried fat covered in sugar that Comiskey sells, the ice cream might be cheaper. But zach doesn't have an agent, so I say we sign zach, who didn't even ask for the $5 a day.

If Joey Cora took steroids, he should get his money back!
  19. You have me convinced. KW might not have a dollar but he could have a Penny,

Thanks for posting that, I am learning a lot about our players in the minors by being a poster here and I appreciate it a lot. I have learned more on these boards than I ever did on the MLB ones.

Don't you mean K Wells and not D Wells in your rotation? James Baldwin would still be less than a so-so pitcher. I always liked Siro. But what if Schueler had signed Clemens and not Navarro? All these what ifs are frustrating because we cannot go back and change time.

I just suddenly got the desire to post this again. Can't explain it. So here goes: At Sox Fest, I will wear no Red Wings hockey gear. I only wear that during Stanley Cup time anyway. And if you did rush me, I'd just beat you in overtime anyway.
  23. If you are kinda saying nice about KW, I'd have to agree. I know a lot of people are really riled by him, and I am not exactly overjoyed by him, but I think he is still coming into his own as anyone does in a position life this. I think he will ok. As long as he never does anything as stupid as Schueler (sign Navarro over Clemems) I will like him.
  24. I wonder if this is something that, if it happens, will be announced on 31 January 2003, the first day of SoxFest, just as the Lofton signing was announced last year. That would create a happy vibe and keep the wolves from ripping KW apart. And for the latter, there has to be some move by the 31st... But I expect no announcements of anything until the 31st, so no use holding one's breath now. Thanks for the news, though!
  25. thanks! (this is a pointless email but I am working to get to 500 posts and get a new status, tired of being a "September call-up." I wanna be a starter!)
