Jerry Manuel expressed his disappointment in Jon Garland, said he expected more out of him this year. He also indicated that Garland will not start again this year. Frank Thomas said his decision to exercise his option for next year will be based largely on what moves the Sox make in the offseason, according to the Daily Southtown. Thomas said he would like to sit down with KW and at least get some indication where the team is headed. If Thomas finds out the front office intends to cut payroll, making 2004 a rebuilding year, he may seek to go elsewhere, the paper said. Jose Valentin said "Hopefully we can stick with the same group of guys and come out of spring training ready to play hard from the start." WELL THAT WOULD BE A NOVEL APPROACH AROUND HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And that's this mornings news. Have a nice day.

Betcha he screws that up too.

Wells vs. Colon? It's a Goo-off!

If you go to hell, Satan makes you watch those 3 games on a continuous loop. I saw every inning of those games, and I was calling for Manuel's head by game 3. Remember in mid-2002 Reinsdorf was saying that Spring Training 2003 would be a boot camp? Did I miss that somewhere? They were not ready when the whistle blew, got their asses handed to them, and they deserve to finish third, the bastards. And, oh, yes, Jerry Manuel - enjoy Sacramento.

My Fantasy Sox Team for 2004

You would have Everett and Rowand on the field at the same time, and have Rowand at first? If you must screw around at first base (it looks easier to play than it is and it's no given that just anybody can move there), at least gain some defense in Center by keeping Rowand there and having Jurassic at first. Let me be clear though, Jurassic would cost you games at first base too. Everybody's putting more work into our lineup than the Sox are, I think. Reinsdorf will say to Kenny, give me the best lineup that 58 million dollars will buy. And we'll be mediocre again. -
Is it ok for SOX fans to root for the scrubs?

There is nothing to add. You have said it perfectly. -
Yes, and the Titanic was too wet.

I think I read in the paper that he's seeking $200,000. He also said a while back that he suffered some hearing loss, so he could show damages. Not sure he can show negligience tho. Ligue may pay him 100 bucks a year, for 2000 years.

Ed Farmer on Thursday

I think Harry would do the first three on TV, the middle on radio, and the last 3 back on TV. During the period you mentioned, Joe McConnell was the main guy on radio. Lorne Brown came later. -
This year Frank is hitting .242 with 12 homers on the road. Last year he hit .240 with 4 homers on the road. Must be a lot of bad backdrops on the road, eh Frank? Any team that wants Frank should consider how much US Cellular factors in for his production. By the way, before this year lifetime FT was .267 at HHH with 12 HRs. Also, there were only 5 road cities where he has more homers that at HHH. FT: quit you b****in.

It was right after Tuesday night's game.

If you want to get sick, wait until they resign Jose and then read KW's quotes defending the signing. Please God don't let this happen.

This is taking a rivalry too far....

It's like road rage...you just don't know who has a gun anymore. I actually this year stopped going to the Sox-Cubs games, because I didn't like - couldn't stand - being around asshole Cub fans who want to piss me off, in my home park. Baseball is supposed to be a way to relax and get away from the stress of life. I also understand why ballplayers want to beat the s*** out of the William Ligues in life. -
There is such a thing as bad leadership, and following Jose's leadership hasn't gotten us very far.

Ed Farmer on Thursday

Agreed 100%, but I wouldn't want to see him replace Coop. How about putting him in there for DJ on TV? Then if we could get Hawk out of there, we could have the real Sox announcers on TV. no dont put him in for dj... i cant fathom hearing about his freakin golf game for 9 innings........its bad enough to have to hear it on the radio, i couldnt stand watching him talk about it too............ DJ is a terrible announcer. I'd rather hear about Farmer golfing than DJ's stupid explanations of what the Sox are doing in the game. He adds nothing more than the obvious to the broadcast. ohhh if hawk would shut the f*** up once in a while dj could actually get a good word in edge wise..... dj and rooney did a great job in oakland ..(what was it last season or this one when hawk was gone i dont recall) i think they gelled pretty damn good and would make an excellent broadcast team..........put hawk on radio with farmer and they could talk golf to eachother all game long....... Hawk on the radio? When things are going bad he shuts up. Hawk's colorful, but radio needs a description of what's happening. Not really his strength. Of course, talking about who is the best Sox announcer is more fun than talking about the team. -
Who is George Romero? If you heard that they are building a statue in front of the park, that is BS, there is already one in the oversized batters box whenever there is a man on first and less than 2 outs. What is shakin? Any reason for them to keep my money as a deposit? I told the ticket guy that if Colon doesn't come back, seats will not be hard to come by and my season tickets will go the way of out pennant hopes, out the window. He chuckled and agreed. lol fan of mine.. i figured the zombies pic that was posted with the original comment would tip ya off.. have you ever heard of night of the living dead???? hes the guy who made the movie happen........sorry sometimes i foreget how young most of you guys are lol........lol no statues.. and is your window open??? now would be a good time to use it...... You made a $10 referance to a $3.00 crowd it seems - I can't believe anyone hadn't heard of George Romano - and you even gave a picture clue! no respect at all for the classics Kids - what's the matter with kids today... (think anyone will get that referance? ) I got the Romero reference and thought it was hysterical. If I had thought it would be missed by so many, I'd have posted my kudos to you. I got the "Kids" reference too. Why can't they be like we were, perfect in every way? Just the advantage of age. Oh, and bye bye Jerry.

No no... you build your team around Carlos and Magglio... And things will start happening... Bad things, but things nonetheless.

Mr. Backman, your table is ready...

Throw in Miles and Reed and we're in business! BTW, I wonder if Reed will be fast tracked? I'd say depending on what this team is composed of were gonna see a lot of reed. I don't think Borchard sticks in the organization any longer and Reed/Rowand will be fighting for center (just my opinion). Then there is the possibility that Maggs gets dealt as the team sheds payroll. If thats the case you trade him for no less then Xavier Nady, Jake Peavy, and Khalil Greene as well as another prospect (They don't give you Greene, you get Gatreu). You move Greene to 2nd and sign Matsui to play shortstop. This probably isn't gonna happen though cause I don't see the Sox blowing things up. However, if they want to spend a 70 mill then they will have to do some retooling to fit Wally's style. Your gonna need to dump slugs like Thomas and Konerko and replace them. Everett could replace Thomas at DH while you get someone like Spiezo or a FA to replace PK. Keep the pitching staff and maybe even add a reliever. Add speed at shorstop with Matsui (He's a must sign) and then you get more speed/everydayness in Reed/Rowand who compete. Both play great defense and can do all the little things. They won't give up on Borchard yet - not with him having five million of Jerry Reinsdorf's dollars. -
Oh God no. If true, welcome to the land of mediocrity, everybody.

I'm hoping they have to play doubleheaders on Sunday and Monday. Tough to do more than split those. I am also wearing my Astros hat to the Cell on Saturday and Sunday.

PART to blame? Was Custer part to blame at Little Big Horn?

Eye on the moving van.

With those pictures it takes me about ten minutes to read anything you post. Keep posting. I'll be rooting for the Red Sox and (if necessary) whoever's playing the Cubs.

He was talking about Jon Garland's performance. During Wednesday's game, when Minny got the guy to 3rd, the next batter (may have been Rivas, not sure) Farmer was saying only likes balls away. Garland got ahead of him on inside stuff, then threw a ball away and it resulted in the infield hit. At the time Farmer said I don't get it, I don't understand the pitch selection, etc. So during last night's broadcast, Farmer said he sat down prior to Thursday's game with Cooper and Garland, and Farmer asked him what he was thinking out there. Farmer said Garland said, Well the catcher-, and Farmer said no, no, you have the ball you have to take charge, don't say the catcher didn't call the right pitch. Catchers are dumb or they wouldn't be catching. Farmer continued you never established anything, not your curve, not your fastball. He concluded by saying I'm sure Garland didn't enjoy our conversation, but he'll learn from it.
