  1. would someone explain to me, in step by step format, how to quote a previous message, the way you all know how to do? I feel so stoopid.
  2. The key is always the pitching rotation. If they can't/won't sign Colon, they need a real replacement - not a project. Next year the most effective pitchers we have may be Mark and Jon, then Esty. You must have another effective guy. If we go with a rotation of Mark, Jon, Esty, next year's version of Esty and say Stewart, or Cotts, forget about it, we ain't going nowhere. I say do whatever you can to resign Colon. That way you know you have a solid 1 through 4, and that will keep you in the running. If we have a rotation that reads like a wing and a prayer, we're screwed.
  3. I've been reading these posts since, I guess July, and I've read some outrageous things. But I never thought I would read these words "The only bright spot has been Danny Wright" in a row.
  4. Look, I appreciate what Esty has done this year, but you gotta face facts. Lately he hasn't gotten the job done. He was fortunate to get his 19th win against Cleveland, that coulda been a loss. then he lost twice to Minny, and if you say he had one bad inning in the first one, he had no good innings tonight. I think he'll win 20, but the party is over. I hope next year he comes back strong.
  5. If we're not making the playoffs, and this just in, we're not making the playoffs, I would bench Jose. Why tie yourself down with a guaranteed contract to a guy at a position that you need to upgrade? Sorry, that's just business, and Jose, see you later. You didn't play well enough for me to give you 5 mill next year.
  6. Let's see.. I'm 53 and way overweight. Oh sure let's take it nice and slow.
  7. I know the first two letters for sure. I have a guess about the last three. Does it concern a Sox player born on the same day as Jeff Bagwell?
  8. Others have said this first, but good pitching beats us. Especially someone with a changeup. As for the heart, you've got to exempt Carlos Lee from that.
  9. If we lose this game, you really don't have to worry about Wednesday or Thursday. Time for me to start wearing my Astros hat to the games this weekend.
  10. Fabulous play. But we aren't hitting for s***.
  11. I think he's gassed. He's given his all, but now, the tank is empty.
  12. I hope their plane crashes. On the Cubs.
  13. Clee is arbitration, Buhrle arbitration, Loiza and Jose are option guys, so in a sense you can kind of figure what $ these guys can command. I'd love to keep Everett, but he's the guy I think is most likely to leave us. Back to my point - Colon is more valuable than even a productive Paulie, right?
  14. on 9/16/02 we were 74-76. On 9/16/03 we won the first of 3 straight victories against the Minnesota Twins that carried us to the Central Division Championship. I'm writing this next year.
  15. CubKilla you got it. jerry m. gets into these things where he just won't use a guy. I'm not the biggest Gary Glover fan in the world, but there were plenty of chances to give him some work and JM wouldn't do it. Having said that, I just read that Glover has allowed 50% of his inherited runs to score, the biggest total in the league. Let me come down squarely on both sides of this issue!
  16. Saturday is the mystery - four man or five man.
  17. Dibble has been a Sox booster all year.
  18. I don't know our budget, and I think Colon is the first guy on my list, but I think Robbie has been great for us, and I'd give him the 2 years. Here's a question for those of you who are neutral or positive to Paulie - cause I like Paulie a lot. If trading Paulie for any cheap player meant you could keep Colon for a 3 year contract, would you do it. I like Paulie, but I'd rather have Colon.
  19. I just want to say thanks, and I'll be the best damn maintenance specialist you ever did see!
  20. That's funny - I was really old when I went to new Comiskey!
