Fall of '08 television season thread
Off on Wednesday's and discovered "Parking Wars" on A&E. Funny to see these idiots swear and get pissed at the people writing tickets even though they are illegally parked and can't follow signs and instructions. Feel bad for some of the officers.

Obama vs. McCain Debate III
QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Oct 15, 2008 -> 12:24 PM) I'll be at a Celtic Thunder Concert. Well than delete this thread. You add more to the debate threads than anyone...or cancel the concert.

Obama vs. McCain Debate III
McCain, in my casual opinion, has to come off as more likable than he did in the town hall meeting. The talking down to Obama rubbed a lot of people the wrong way as well as his poor joke attempts when he knew the audience was not allowed to react. It came off petty, IMO.

QUOTE (DBAHO @ Oct 15, 2008 -> 12:02 PM) TO just wants to win. He was winning in Philly. How did that end? After a WIN this year is when he had his meeting with Romo and started b****ing. TO cares about himself and that is it. Hope he NEVER wins a Super Bowl ring.

Mark Wahlberg and the Donkey bunch
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 15, 2008 -> 06:54 AM) Supposedly Marky saw the skits on YouTube and was so pissed off about them he is refusing to ever go on the show again. Yikes. Talk about overreacting. Not like Wahlberg makes good movies anyway that he would need to promote. Keep producing Entourage.

QUOTE (farmteam @ Oct 14, 2008 -> 09:42 PM) What about Roth? I've heard he's got one dimension (beyond the arc), but he's DAMN good at it. I'm excited to see what Nick Williams can do the most. He is definitely a great shooter, but when I saw him down state last year, he didn't do much else. Not much of a penetrator and his defense didn't stand out. Not saying he can't improve at all, just didn't seem like a big time college recruit is all. Is he a Sampson recruit?

Off-Season Suggestion Thread
QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Oct 14, 2008 -> 08:14 PM) The thought is nice, but the Twins got 4 players for Santana, and he was in a walk year. Peavy is in the same boat, though his year end ERA was helped something crazy by pitching in Petco (1.74 ERA at home, 4.28 on the road), but he's also in the middle of a very easily manageable deal. He's worth 3 good prospects, and he's someone the Sox probably have no hope of getting. Peavy just signed a 4 year deal last year, didn't he?

2008 MLB Catch-All Thread
The North County Times reports that the Padres have made Jake Peavy available in trades. Peavy is just 10 months removed from signing a four-year, $52 million contract extension, but a 99-loss season can make a team do funny things. "This was a different year than last year," general manager Kevin Towers said. "You're arguably talking about moving one of the top pitchers in the game. But it's not a 100-percent given. Nothing is imminent." It'll be interesting to see what type of market there is for Peavy given that CC Sabathia, A.J. Burnett and Ben Sheets are all free agents.

QUOTE (farmteam @ Oct 14, 2008 -> 07:58 PM) This is going to be an...interesting year for IU basketball. I'm really looking forward to seeing what Crean and his ragtag bunch can pull off. I question some of the Indiana recruits (Roth), but if I were an Indiana fan, I'd be kind of excited about it this year. New vibe. What's with the Digger Phelps reference edited in the title? Booooo.

Boston Red Sox vs. Tampa Bay Rays ALCS Thread
QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Oct 14, 2008 -> 07:28 PM) The past two seasons really feel like a changing of the guard. These older, sometimes PED infested players are being weeded out and young studs are coming up essentially out of nowhere. The game is going in good places, and I like seeing it. I'm hoping we can hotshot Beckham to the majors. Not before he is ready obviously but sometimes I like the philosophy of promoting the kid and letting him learn, and by the way Beckham played in his month down there, he looks to be a fast learner. Tampa Bay Domination.

Entourage
QUOTE (MurcieOne @ Oct 14, 2008 -> 07:58 PM) It wasn't a great episode, but I thought Piven was particularly good in the last scene. I like how he took the character to a different place after Gray died. I bet Vince ends up playing Joey Ramone in that script that bob sold to Gray. Piven should keep winning Emmy's for this show til it is off the air. Nobody is better.

QUOTE (kjshoe04 @ Oct 14, 2008 -> 06:04 PM) Brian who are those bums in your sig? why did you start this thread? now i want Redbird bball to start. oh and the redbirds could quite possibly have the worst non conference schedule of all time. If they are not undefeated going into conference, I will be real upset. Those "bums" are gonna knock the O-Hawk of Osirisus head. Dillard and Mullins will be the toughest guard combo Eldridge and crew face in conference. Even Drake. I know IL State is the favorite, but even if SIU loses, it should be fun watching these guys play.

Pena and Longoria back to back. 3-0 in 1st. These Rays remind me of us in 05 at this time. Starting Wakefield was dumb.

QUOTE (fathom @ Oct 14, 2008 -> 05:55 PM) I'm on the record in saying Kevin Dillard will be the best player in SIU's history. Should Walt Frazier be worried? I don't know what to expect from this years team. Lots of growing pains but the freshmen looked good in Canada. Ryan Hare will surprise a lot of people. The kid is energy, buzzer to buzzer, and does everything. Our depth and bench could be as good as it has ever been.
