QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Aug 19, 2006 -> 04:23 PM) That and the fact that Pods isnt the same runner. I think he never recovered from his hernia last year. Didn't he have some surgery before the season?

Hey, Freddy! Suck my rooster!
Controlled Chaos replied to Gene Honda Civic's topic in Pale Hose Talk
This is twice with Freddy saying this kind of s***, not too mentoin his on the field antics toward his teamates. From a few weeks ago.. ''I made my pitches,'' Garcia said. ''I never really pitch good here, but I threw well. We didn't hit. What can I say?'' You know what really got to me... after Cotts gave up the hit they showed Freddy pissed off and walking into the clubhouse . Freddy should have been pissed off when he first came out of the game, instead of just sitting there packing his chew. He put the team behind once again in the first. They battled back for him twice, just to watch him give it up. Then he acts pissed off when Cotts gives up a bloop hit?? We were already down by one, so was he pissed cause it shows up as his run?? That's what I got out of it cause he's become a slefish prick. Then after it all he criticizes the offense. -

QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Aug 18, 2006 -> 08:58 AM) But Cooper had a remedy for Garcia's problem on Tuesday. ''I didn't like hearing that from Freddy,'' Cooper said. ''I mean, don't convince yourself of something like that. And if that is true, if you are 'Big Game' Freddy Garcia, then ... '' Cooper then cupped his hands around his mouth as if he was yelling, '''Hey Freddy, they're all big now.''' -

QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Aug 17, 2006 -> 03:54 PM) Bobby made a big pitch, of course he gets credit. As does BA for keeping that runner at 3rd on the gapper that gave them the first run. But that was still inexcuseable managing, and since we won, I'm an idiot for saying it. You're an idiot cause you said so. -

QUOTE(Reddy @ Aug 17, 2006 -> 03:38 PM) but doncha think there's something wrong when you make such a big deal about managing getting us a single run? You should see what a big deal is made when another manager gets his team a run against us. -

Cotts: White Sox 'pen coming around MLBPLAYERS.com Left-hander Neal Cotts has a 3.18 ERA through his first 53 appearances this season. (Ron Vesely/Getty Images) The composition of our bullpen has changed a lot in the last year. I'm the only guy still active from the beginning of last season until now, and Bobby Jenks is the only other reliever who pitched for us in the playoffs. We've had some rough patches, but I really think we're coming around. We've made a couple trades, and some of our acquisitions from the beginning of the year are doing well and succeeding now. We've made adjustments and, as solid as our bullpen was last year, I think we're as strong or stronger in some aspects right now. It's a difficult job being a reliever; we're really under the microscope. If you're struggling at one part of the season, it's really important to have the depth in the bullpen to have a different guy who can get the job done any day. When we're all clicking together, it goes pretty freely. Some have said it's tough to duplicate last year's success, but most of the guys in the bullpen weren't here last year, so they don't really know what went on. You just go out there and try not to worry about life. When it's your turn, you get the ball and get the outs you need to get. We have a very hard-throwing bullpen now. The guys they've brought in all have tremendous stuff. A bunch of them are younger guys who just have great stuff. Once we get going, they'll do well. Change is a constant in baseball. Cliff Politte was a great teammate here and it was difficult to see him get released. He just struggled and couldn't get out of a slump. He wasn't making pitches. It was hard to see. It was hard to watch a guy go from pitching so well last season to a point where he couldn't buy an out. It's tough to lose a guy like Cliff, but by bringing in Mike MacDougal and David Riske, we've succeeded in filling that void. MacDougal is nasty. Anybody who sees his stuff, especially his sinker and slider, comes away impressed. He has filthy stuff. I'm just glad to see he's healthy this year with us. Even though some guys have left, though, we try to keep the same fun atmosphere in the bullpen. Bullpen coach Art "Cave" Kusnyer and bullpen catcher Man Soo Lee do their best to keep it entertaining. We go down there relaxed, and when it's time to get ready, we're ready to go. Our relievers don't have a lot of playoff experience, but I think as we get further into the season and the games take on more and more significance, everyone will rise to the occasion. The adrenaline, the atmosphere and the game take over at that point. When the pennant race kicks into gear, you're going to be ready. Whether you succeed or not is a different story, but you're going to be mentally and physically ready. I didn't have playoff experience before last season, either. But the lessons I learned are pretty simple: Just go out there, be competitive and be confident. That's the key. If you go out there and just throw strikes, it's just like any other game. You have to feed from the crowd, but stay within yourself. Neal Cotts, a 26-year-old left-hander in his third season with the White Sox, is the only reliever remaining from Chicago's Opening Day roster in 2005. This season, he's 1-2 with a 3.18 ERA in 53 appearances. He was 1-0 with a perfect ERA over six postseason appearances last season.

QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Aug 15, 2006 -> 10:46 AM) I'm liking how Ozzie recently has played only 1 sub per game. That's the way he should be doing it. Get most of the guys a rest about once a week, and get each sub in there every couple of days and as defensive replacements late in the game. Also, a lot of subs were able to get in yesterday, so that should keep em sharp. If Ozzie is going to sub out Anderson, which I do not want him to do cause Brian is in a nice rhythm, but if he is.... please do it now. I want Brian patrolling center for the Minny and Tigers game. He can play 7 in a row. We need our best defense at those parks.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Aug 15, 2006 -> 10:49 AM) All seats being spoken for is a sellout. Even if a big chunk of them are comps, it is still considered an official sell out. Comps don't count towards official attendance (as it is tickets SOLD) so that is why capacity varies so much. So say the Sox have like 50 seats scattered around that are available. Would they just deem them comps to get a sellout? How does that work? I would imagine there are always at least some singles scattered around the park. Do they sox buy them up to make it a sellout or are they allowed a certain % of empty seats?
-
Anyone know what constitutes a sellout? I thought I read somewhere it wasn't capacity. I thought it was like 90% of tickets sold or something?

QUOTE(Felix @ Aug 11, 2006 -> 02:16 PM) So what, does he have really long legs and a gigantic step or something? He was much more than a step away from the base. I agree he was more than a step away...it was prolly more like 6 feet or so, however there is no way Iguchi makes that play any other way than he did. If Iguchi falls down before throwing to first Molina is safe. Iguchi Play -
Proof that Umps hosed us in Yanks series
Controlled Chaos replied to BigSqwert's topic in Pale Hose Talk
We were hosed on a lot more that that call. That has to be the worst crew of the year. "What are you doing Brian Gorman" Crew M Davis, Gerry - cc Gorman, Brian Cooper, Eric Miller, Bill Cooper is a one man wrecking crew. I don't actually believe the guy sits there and says I'm gonna make any close calls against the sox, but it sure seems like that's what happens.
