  1. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Aug 4, 2006 -> 02:03 PM) First, I would replace Pods with Mackowiak. See how that goes for a while, then make changes as necessary. If he did that, what would you be left with to complain about?
  2. Let's hand big Roy his 3rd loss!! Jon needs to be careful with Wells and Hinske. Wells is a beast and has faced Garland twice with a double and a walk. Jon needs to pitch him low and in. Hinske is 9-for-21 lifetime against Big Jon, with two home runs, two doubles and five RBIs. We get the big dogs Thome and Konerko back. Let's go boys!!!
  3. Wow, there's a lot rage goin on here... Don't take life too serious. You'll never escape it alive anyway
  4. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Aug 3, 2006 -> 12:14 PM) First, I'd like to say that the season isn't over. I didn't say that. As for the bold part, we're in a tight race here with 3 or 4 teams for 1 playoff spot. We're going to have to sweep some bad teams if we plan on playing baseball in October. So, we should start "expecting" some sweeps, especially against these AAA teams. Sweeps are hard whether it be against a good or bad team...Since it's a crap shoot, I'll take the sweep against a good team. However, if we don't sweep anyone, but win every series from here on out that puts us at 101 wins!!
  5. QUOTE(knightni @ Aug 2, 2006 -> 04:52 PM) YOU THE MAN!!!!!!!!!!!! Am I the only one that uses that size?? I have a 17" LCD.
  6. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Aug 2, 2006 -> 10:14 PM) Can we make this a Freddy and Javy thread. They both suck. They both get too much rope. In light of this, I wanted to make a comment on Freddy and didn't want to start a whole new thread. I hate this comment from the times this morning...''I made my pitches,'' Garcia said. ''I never really pitch good here, but I threw well. We didn't hit. What can I say?'' First off 4 earned runs in 6 innings isn't pitching well. Better? Yes....but not well. Second, don't blame the hitters. I know they didn't hit..they know they didn't hit, but you lost collectively. This is the big difference between Freddy and someone like Buehrle. Mark would never say something like "I did my job, but they didn't hit" He would say "my team gave me the lead and I blew it." Freddy needs to be taught the meaning of TEAM again. When he gives up 5, 6 or 8 runs, Do the hitters say...hey Freddy blew it.
  7. QUOTE(TitoMB345 @ Aug 2, 2006 -> 02:16 PM) 1280x768 1280X1024?? anyone anyone?? not a big deal if can't be done.
  8. QUOTE(Steff @ Aug 1, 2006 -> 03:16 PM) CHT here (Chicago) and there (Vegas) are my favs. This will be a huge shock, but Jim and I found some 4 star joints in Mexico. I cant believe how much you are contributing to this thread.
  9. I think he knows how to make the tough catch and hold on to the ball. He reads the ball off the bat pretty well. He looks like his running thru mud sometimes, but I have no prob with JD's defense.
  10. Of course I'm in. We play Detroit 10 more times. It's baseball...anything can happen. Nothing is decided until the games are played.
  11. QUOTE(Steff @ Jul 31, 2006 -> 03:02 PM) NSFW... Obviously the chick in the back doesn't realize who the chick in front of her is. Removing this link, since it takes you to a page with nudity. http://i102.photobucket.com/albums/m120/mikur/bikini1.jpg Wow, that's a pretty crowded beach she is on.
  12. QUOTE(Steff @ Jul 31, 2006 -> 01:19 PM) We stayed over there the entire time Friday night. I didn't see nearly as many ticket issues Friday as I did Thursday which was good. I remember seeing a pic of you with the Sox ring on your finger way back when the passed them out. It took me awhile, but I finally got to wear that thing. Of course when I win the raffle I'll be able to wear it all the time. I thought it looked pretty good on me if I must say so myself.
  13. QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Jul 31, 2006 -> 08:58 AM) I had a good time as well. One comment though about the scout seats lounge. It was so nice compared to other parts of the park yet it reminded me of the lower level concourse at Pac Bell. You'll see generic 13" TVs scattered all over USCF yet the scout seat lounge has nice plasma TVs broadcasting in HD. While at Pac Bell last weekend there were dozens of plasma screens all over the concourse broadcasting the game in HD. Was a very nice touch. I will admit that our park looks a whole lot better since it's early years but when comparing it to the elite stadiums it still comes off as sort of cheap when it comes to the attention to detail. The Scout Seat Lounge was a sweet set up...I have a couple pics in my other post. I don't really care that there aren't plasmas all over the park, I mean how long are you wathcing tv in the concourse anyway. When it's time to upgrade the tv's, I'm sure they'll go the LCD route, but I see no need to tear down all the old tv's just for aesthetics. As for the whole ticket fiasco....When I was in line they had said...if you were sent the ticketmaster tickets stay in this line...If you only have the Big Card that was sent to you in the mail go to the ticket window. I assumed they were giving those people regular tickets at that ticket window, but I dont know cause we went inside.
  14. Alomar, Buehrle to be reunited By Mark Gonzales Tribune staff reporter Published July 30, 2006 BALTIMORE -- In an attempt to help Mark Buehrle snap a five-game losing streak, White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen said he will start newly acquired Sandy Alomar Jr. behind the plate Tuesday night against Kansas City. "I'm not going to blame our catching because Buehrle hasn't had success the last five starts," Guillen said Sunday. "I blame that on him. I think in the past they've worked together and have been able to work it out." Buehrle's faith in Alomar dates to the 2001 season, when he became a full-time starting pitcher and posted a 16-8 record and 3.29 ERA. Alomar last worked with Buehrle in 2004, when he had a 4.04 ERA in 17 starts with Alomar catching. Buehrle allowed three runs or fewer in nine of his first 11 starts in '04. Guillen reiterated his faith in starting catcher A.J. Pierzynski and stressed that Alomar won't serve as Buehrle's personal catcher. "People can't forget he won a lot of games with A.J. behind the plate," Guillen said. "That's not the problem. It's just trying to do something different." Alomar pointed out that Buehrle and the Sox won the 2005 World Series without him. "I'm not going to be the main difference in him," Alomar said. "It just has to be like what they did last year. They won. If someone has to prove something, it's me." Last Monday, Buehrle said he trusted Alomar's pitch selection when he came up to the majors as a youngster but that it didn't matter who was catching now.
  15. I had a good time. We were probably about 20th in line....We went on the field in the first time slot. Here's some pics... Pics
  16. Our tickets came ok and not to piss ya off, but we also got two extras. We requested to be put on a list if there were extras and they called the 17th and said we were able to fill your request.
  17. QUOTE(My Dixie Normus @ Jul 27, 2006 -> 02:20 PM) I have never liked playoff teams that had to go through a great run and come from behind to get into the playoffs. They run out of steam. I don't want that to be the White Sox this year. It shouldn't be, thats for sure. Since 2000, 6 of the 12 world series participants have been wild card teams and 3 have won it. I think a tight battle helps. I think the battle with Cleveland last year, albeit not fighting for a wild card, helped the sox as well. I kept saying it could be a blessing in disguise and I think it was.
  18. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jul 27, 2006 -> 01:17 PM) The Tigers have managed to go 4 months without "comming down to earth", what makes you think they'll do that now? Just curious. I don't have facts...I can't guarantee it, but most teams have a down time. The Sox went 5 months without coming down to earth, but they did eventually come down. As for the pitchers...I think they are all capable of snapping out of it and running off 4 or 5 in a row each.
  19. From 6/6 to 7/6 we played 29 games and won 22 of them. This included some tough games against Detroit, Texas, the World Series shoulda been Cardinals, the World Series Astros and a heated rivalry with the Cubs. I think they have this kinda run in them again. These next 29 games are huge from 7/28 to 8/28. This is the heart of the season...this is the battle. I don't care who says we suck or the season is over because of the previous 100 games(which in itself is a ridiculous statement since we're 59-41). This is the stretch that will determine October. I believe we have another run of .750 ball and I believe we'll hit it right when the twins and tiggers come down to earth. This is not blind optimism. Blind Optimism is rooting for something to happen that has never happened, something you've never seen happen. That's not what I'm doing here. I'm just believing our players can do what they've done in the past. It's not a stretch for the pitchers to start pitching and the hitters to start hitting. They have the talent, they can do it. Mark your calendars Sox fans and sit back and strap it down.
  20. QUOTE(RME JICO @ Jul 27, 2006 -> 11:30 AM) Vazquez has actually not pitched that well early in the game. He pitches better from pitch 31-75. Vazquez by pitch Pitch 1-15 5.19 ERA Pitch 16-30 5.94 ERA Pitch 31-45 1.83 ERA Pitch 46-60 1.65 ERA Pitch 61-75 3.50 ERA Pitch 76-90 9.92 ERA Pitch 91-105 10.13 ERA The issue with him is when runners are on base. Bases Empty - 2.94 ERA Runners On - 8.04 ERA RISP - 12.56 ERA RISP w/2outs - 24.98 ERA Bases Loaded - 12.27 ERA I don't know how you fix that, but those numbers are horrible. HeyRME great breakdown. Where do you get stats like that?
  21. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Jul 27, 2006 -> 09:48 AM) Honestly, what are we supposed to talk about during this post ASB slump? Messages of doubt are repetitive because this team is losing.........repeatively. We all can't hold Jphat's view of the baseball world. CC's post may have actually made sense if it were directed towards a post where the entire season were in doubt. Instead, a statement was made of an apparent collapse (which, considering how far we've fallen lately, can't be dismissed) and a question of why we should be optimistic of our playoff chances. And your last sentence doesn't apply to this thread. Original poster wrote his opinion and asked for ours. Honestly, it's not even practical. How would legitimate discussions arise? People can't avoid issues they oppose that easily. Even on an internet message board. If someone titles their thread, "THIS TEAM IS DONE," and it's obviously negative in tone, are those who disagree with their assessment not allowed in? That's the way it was seem from your little rule. If I would have to stay out of a positive thread as not to ruin for those hopeful, shouldn't you (among others) have to stay out of negative threads? Don't want to ruin the negativity for those who don't believe a comeback is possible, right? You should know it doesn't work like that. There's a reason you've told people 5,533,234,322,000 times. Dude, first you called me middle-aged, now you're saying I don't make sense. This Harry character made like 4 or 5 posts in this thread alone before I posted...my reply was to all of them. He has also been preaching the same garbage for 2 weeks. He also wants facts on something that is not fact based. There are no facts on baseball games that haven't been played. Some people think we can win games and come out of this funk and some don't.
  22. QUOTE(Harry&JimmyRocked @ Jul 27, 2006 -> 02:32 AM) this is a collapse. not a slump. why do you think we will win the wildcard? someone gimmie some facts and not just "because" or "i hope so" Why don't you stop posting, stop following the Sox and come back next year? I mean really....why the hell even come here if they suck so bad and the season is over. If it's just to tell everyone they suck and the season is over....save it. The people that agree with you don't need to hear it and the people that disagree don't want to hear it.
