When I'm With You - Sheriff Keep On Loving You - REO Speedwagon From This Moment On - Shania Twain Honorable mention goes to 'One More Night' by Phil Collins. This song was playing the first time I ever felt boob. QUOTE(JimH @ Nov 22, 2005 -> 11:59 AM) If you do a search on this site for Tucson info, you'll find more than you'll need. I remember writing up 2-3 lengthy info pieces on Tucson. Specifically though ... www.visittucson.org and www.dotucson.com are good places for info. It gets dark down there about 6 to 6:30, you can fit in 9 holes at least after the games. Mariott Star Pass is maybe 15 min. from the park. Seeing the players ... Maloney's on 4th Avenue (4th Ave. is where you'll want to hang out), Bob Dobb's Sports Bar on E. 6th Ave. and some of the restaurants out on E. Tanque Verde Dr. which they call Restaurant Row. Also near campus there's Gentle Ben's (brewpub) and across the street is Frog and Firken. The latter two are not far from 4th Ave. All the games are at 1:05 pm. It is a big complex with several fields, most of the "B" games take place late morning, around 10:30 or so and you can just walk up and watch. If you need specific info, PM me, I have been fortunate enough to go the last 6 years. Thanks for your help Jim!! I don't think I can do a search yet...so this info was great!!

Couple questions regarding Tucson? What time does it get dark in mid march? I'm trying to figure if I can golf after the Sox games. Are all the sox games at 1:00? I see on the schedule there is more than one game scheduled at Tucson park. Is there more than one field? I'm staying at JW Marriott Starr Pass. Is the park close to the hotel? Any info on bars to go to or restaurants where we can hang with the players would be greatly appreciated. Thanks All!!! edit: Are fans invited to practices or only the games? What time are practices?

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Nov 22, 2005 -> 07:51 AM) They have already talked about drawing down troops. But then were told that it was just some evil ploy to distract us or something like that... I lost track of what evil it was covering up this time. they lie about going to war, they lie about the pullout....they love spilt american blood. The Evil Party...rounding up your votes for 2008!!
-
I don't know why the conservatives would want to bring the troops back. They get such great publicity with them there. I mean what else bolsters support for your party more than body bags. "Die American troops" "Die American troops" I can hear the chants at the election rallies now...they are gonna pull in so many votes!!

Happy Birthday Kip!!! Have a great day!!

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Nov 20, 2005 -> 07:28 PM) I still havn't seen a single Bears fan sincerely talk about the Bears going to the Superbowl this year. And you didn't here many Sox fans talk world series until we were in the playoffs and even then many fans stayed reserved. If the Bears get in the playoffs, which is almost a certainty, anything can happen. A defense that makes big plays can change the complexion of a game in one series. Yeah it's true, probably most of the teams we'd meet in the playoffs will have more talent, but the Bears are somewhat like the Sox, in that, they play well as a team. They can beat any team in the NFC. The AFC will be trouble...but once you get there....anything can happen. A big interception or a big fumble...and that little facet of the game that nobody likes to talk about called momentum, swings the other way. If you can sustain that momentum....for a couple series....Hello upset!!!!!!! Bears last won Super Bowl 20, now it's 20 years later...Thomas Jones wears #20, Bears haven't given up 20 points in 6 games. The superbowl is February 5th and 5 times 4(quarters) = you guessed it....20!!! It all adds up... Ok so maybe the last one is a stretch, but in my opinion...hell yeah the Superbowl is a possibility. Bear Down!!!!!!!!!!!!

QUOTE(Steff @ Nov 18, 2005 -> 03:53 PM) I haven't really posted regarding this case, criminal or civil, too much. I have read the transcripts from the criminal trial and the civil. I'll keep this as simple as possible without going into all the arguments of the NG's and G's. MO, RB isn't guilty or liable for anything. 1. Too much reasonable doubt in criminal 2. Too many other possible suspects in the civil for him to be held *liable.* Exactly what does this jury ( whom I believe milked this situation for all it was worth) think he is *liable* for? For not having a cell phone and calling 911? For not standing there with her, holding the bleeding areas to attempt to stop the bleeding (which was hopeless anyway according to coroner report)? For running to the neighboring houses attempting to get help for her? For being in shock and not knowing exactly what he should do ( many people are like this in an ER situation.) Maybe they will explain this since they seem to play to the media. Now, the amount. Hmmmm, BB worth 30 million??? So, is that money that this jury believes she would of milked out of her web based, dishonest, porn scams on old, lonely men????? Or, did they adjust that amount to include the scams she was running on celebrities?????? (MOO) So the message they are sending is that dishonest law breakers can get away with this type of thing???? (MOO) So confusing to us law abiding honest people. RB may be crude to some. He may speak from the cuff (i.e, says EXACTLY what is on his mind etc) but that is an appealing character trait to me. Don't give me wishy washy BS, say what you mean and mean it. No, I don't agree with this jury's *verdict*. They played to the media and will milk it, watch, MOO. Now I ask, can all those scammed by BB now go back and file their own civil suits against this judgement? I hope they do. This grifter family deserves nothing, nada, zip. MOO. FILE THE APPEAL MR. BLAKE!.. Wow...perhaps when he does file...he should hire you....well done!!!

Black support for Bush drops to two percent Nov 17, 2005 by Larry Elder So much for the Republican "outreach" to black voters, with only 2 percent of blacks "approving" of the president's performance. If only blacks knew of the true history of the Democratic Party. "Black History Month" has been observed for 29 years, yet many blacks know little to nothing about the parties' respective roles in advancing or hindering the civil rights of blacks. How many blacks know that following the Civil War, 23 blacks -- 13 of them ex-slaves -- were elected to Congress, all as Republicans? The first black Democrat was not elected to Congress until 1935, from the state of Illinois. The first black congressional Democrat from a Southern state was not elected until 1973. Democrats, in 1854, passed the Kansas-Nebraska Act. This overturned the Missouri Compromise and allowed for the importation of slaves into the territories. Disgusted with the passage of this Act, free-soilers and anti-slavery members of the Whig and Democratic parties founded the Republican Party -- not just to stop the spread of slavery, but to eventually abolish it. How many blacks know that blacks founded the Texas Republican Party? On July 4, 1867, in Houston, Texas, 150 blacks and 20 whites formed the party. No, not the Black Texas Republican Party, they founded the Texas Republican Party. Blacks across Southern states also founded the Republican parties in their states. Fugitive slave laws? In 1850, Democrats passed the Fugitive Slave Law. If merely accused of being a slave, even if the person enjoyed freedom all of his or her life (as approximately 11 percent of blacks did just before the Civil War), the person lost the right to representation by an attorney, the right to trial by jury, and the right to habeas corpus. Emancipation? Republican President Abraham Lincoln issued the Emancipation Proclamation during the Civil War. In 1865, the 13th Amendment emancipating the slaves was passed with 100 percent of Republicans (88 of 88 in the House, 30 of 30 in the Senate) voting for it. Only 23 percent of Democrats (16 of 66 in the House, 3 of 8 in the Senate) voted for it. Civil rights laws? In 1868, the 14th Amendment was passed giving the newly emancipated blacks full civil rights and federal guarantee of those rights, superseding any state laws. Every single voting Republican (128 of 134 -- with 6 not voting -- in the House, and 30 of 32 -- with 2 not voting -- in the Senate) voted for the 14th Amendment. Not a single Democrat (zero of 36 in the House, zero of 6 in the Senate) voted for it. Right to vote? When Southern states balked at implementing the 14th Amendment, Congress came back and passed the 15th Amendment in 1870, guaranteeing blacks the right to vote. Every single Republican voted for it, with every Democrat voting against it. Ku Klux Klan? In 1872 congressional investigations, Democrats admitted beginning the Klan as an effort to stop the spread of the Republican Party and to re-establish Democratic control in Southern states. As PBS' "American Experience" notes, "In outright defiance of the Republican-led federal government, Southern Democrats formed organizations that violently intimidated blacks and Republicans who tried to win political power. The most prominent of these, the Ku Klux Klan, was formed in Pulaski, Tenn., in 1865." Blacks, who were all Republican at that time, became the primary targets of violence. Jim Crow laws? Between 1870 and 1875, the Republican Congress passed many pro-black civil rights laws. But in 1876, Democrats took control of the House, and no further race-based civil rights laws passed until 1957. In 1892, Democrats gained control of the House, the Senate and the White House, and repealed all the Republican-passed civil rights laws. That enabled the Southern Democrats to pass the Jim Crow laws, poll taxes, literacy tests, and so on, in their individual states. Civil rights in the '60s? Only 64 percent of Democrats in Congress voted for the 1964 Civil Rights Act (153 for, 91 against in the House; and 46 for, 21 against in the Senate). But 80 percent of Republicans (136 for, 35 against in the House; and 27 for, 6 against in the Senate) voted for the 1964 Act. What about the reviled, allegedly anti-black, Republican "Southern strategy"? Pat Buchanan, writing for Richard Nixon (who became the Republican Party candidate two years later) coined the term "Southern strategy." They expected the "strategy" to ultimately result in the complete marginalization of racist Southern Democrats. "We would build our Republican Party on a foundation of states' rights, human rights, small government, and a strong national defense," said Buchanan, "and leave it to the 'party of [Democratic Georgia Gov. Lester] Maddox, [1966 Democratic challenger against Spiro Agnew for Maryland governor George] Mahoney, and [Democratic Alabama Gov. George] Wallace to squeeze the last ounces of political juice out of the rotting fruit of racial injustice.'" And President Richard Nixon, Republican, implemented the first federal affirmative action (race-based preference) laws with goals and timetables. So next "Black History Month," pass some of this stuff along.

Bears' ties to gun range probed

QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Nov 18, 2005 -> 09:28 AM) Heard it on Sportscenter and ESPNEWS both more than once.....I'm not sure where there would be a link, but I could try and find one. I have been following it pretty closely here in chicago and have never heard anyone accuse them of drinking before hand. If Marriotti had that info he would have used it. As I said in my original post if there was drinking and then shooting, then I understand the outrage...but from all things I have heard...that was not the case. -
QUOTE(tonyho7476 @ Nov 18, 2005 -> 09:01 AM) I have games at Park Blvd in Villa Park..and other places...I don't own any bar. If I did, it would be the greatest Sox bar possible. and if it existed I'd be there tonight...showing you how to play golden tee.

Bears' ties to gun range probed

QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Nov 17, 2005 -> 03:35 PM) Well I think it's a big deal if a pair of 300 pound men after drinking, go to an FBI shooting range (and they were drinking before they went, heard that all over the place), get into an argument, and somebody gets hit in the head with a weight and needs a dozen stitches, while another person has a broken jaw, that's a big deal. Large men + alcohol + guns + FBI property=big deal. The media is overdoing it, but to say it should just be handeled in house I strongly disagree with. Btw, Miller could realistically get "assault with a deadly weapon" chargers for smacking somebody in the head with a dumbbell, Kruetz is lucky he came out of it without serious injuries. I haven't heard anywhere that they were drinking before hand. Please provide a link or even a reference as to where you heard it.... -
QUOTE(tonyho7476 @ Nov 18, 2005 -> 08:56 AM) It won't be new. New is around $5000. I recently sold my buddy a Golden Tee 2000 for $200. And I just bought a Golden Tee 2005 for one of my bars, used/redone, for $1500. One of your bars?? Where are your bars?

QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Nov 16, 2005 -> 09:51 PM) This might sound strange coming from me since I think most people need to pull the stick otta their ass and have fun, but IMO, weddding proposals are not an appropriate time for any kind of elaborate 'production'. We had a trip planned to Ft. Lauderdale months in advance anyway, so I figured it might be nice to do it then. Took her to Don Schula's steak house, then for a walk to a secluded part of the beach and just asked her. The tricky part was keeping her from finding the ring for 3 days. So, take her home, sit her down, get on one knee, look into her eyes and ask her. Now I'm all for getting silly at engagement announcement parties. Well even if you don't want to get elaborate...ya should have some kind of a plan. My friend who lived with me years ago was gonna propose to his girlfriend....and I was like... Do you know what you're going to say or what you're going to do? and he's like nah...I'll just come up with something. Now I knew his girlfriend pretty good. Since he lived with me...so did she basically and she was a romantic and pretty much never got her way. If she wanted to go out for a nice dinner...they'd order pizza. If she wanted to go to the movies...they'd rent one. If she wanted to make love, he'd put on porn. If she wanted to go see the lights downtown, he'd take her to the light section at home depot. ok ok so I made up the last two but you get the drift. Anyway, I kinda kept telling him...dude just think about what ya want to say....make it special....it's a big moment for you guys.. BLAH BLAH BLAH...he just took at as...hey I bought the ring thats special enough. Well he ended up proposing in my garage. They were getting in the car to go to a party and he said hey I think ya dropped this. Will you marry me? Shock value?? Yeah I guess.....but you know everyone asks - How did he do it? and she gets to say: um...in Ben's garage... Los Medias...you were on a secluded beach in Fort Lauderdale...so maybe you think you didn't have an elaborate plan...but that was a pretty special and romantic proposal. Most girls...not all, but most like to think you put a little effort into something so important. JMO of course.

Bears' ties to gun range probed
Controlled Chaos replied to Texsox's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
man the media is really blwoing this up. What is the big deal....two guys got into a pissing match that resulted in a couple punches thrown and then it's over. Big deal.... Guns, alcohol, FBI: Bears just don't get it Of course Moronotti was just chomping at the bit waiting for something like this to come out so he can get back to his whining. There have been too many positive events in Chicago and he's been oozing for some controversey to line up against the team. I don't know how, but I just knew he would find a way to b**** about PSL licenses in to this article. Every time he bashes the Bears he mentions them. Find something new Jay. and what's with this comment?? I don't think it's a creepy concept? Millions of people like shooting guns in a range. What's the big deal...Maybe he is a card carrying supporter...what f***in business is it of yours and who are you to insult him for it....If guns in a gun range creep you out Jay...then don't go to a gun range. I can't figure out the problem in all of this except the media needs a story. Now, if there was drinking and shooting that's one thing....but that hasn't even been hinted at. It should be handled in house...hell it could have been handled just between Miller and Kreutz like they tried to do...but a couple leaks got out and now moronotti wants suspensions and bans. Drop it....already..... Mariotti column from yesterday -
I loved one and two. Three was just ok. If you get chance watch The Godfather Saga. After you see part two you'll see all the flashbacks. Well The Godfather Saga puts everything into chronological order starting with Michael as a boy in Italy.

Sorry Kyyle!! I'm not sure if I can be much help, but I have a friend from high school that has his own mortgage company. I gave his card to some guy once that was looking for a job and when I went in to re-fi, the dude was working there. I remember him saying he was swamped and needed people. Now this was about 3 years ago, so I have no clue where he is now. Barrister Mortgage I really don't know if he can help you or not cause I don't keep in touch with the dude, but what the hell...ask for Jesse Martinez and tell him Ben Ferenzi gave you the info. It can't hurt. Good Luck!!!

there's a bad joke in here somewhere, but I'm going to leave it alone. On another note, thanks for even having this topic Steff. It got me motivated to plan a golf/white sox spring training trip with my friends. I mean we've been talking about planning a golf outing....but nobody acted on it. This topic got me thinking and I know it will be the perfect trip. Golf and the Sox YESSSSSS! With regards to the grill....it works like a charm and it's pretty compact. My buddy has a 3000GT and it fit in there with a folding table and two bag chairs.
