  1. QUOTE (WSoxMatt @ May 28, 2008 -> 01:01 PM) The ball went all the way to the wall after JD misread it..they all had to assume VMart would score easily Well I'm not watching, but I'm guessing if VMart thought JD was taking a route to catch it....he would've been tagging so he would've started running from second base. either way...nobody should be assuming...OC should be watching and telling lexi where to throw. Then again...I'm not seeing it so I don't know what really happened.
  2. Farmer said they had a shot at home but bad communication by OC to Alexei? Anybody see this? and f***
  3. QUOTE (Reddy @ May 28, 2008 -> 12:27 PM) since dp's not in order, yeah they should walk him And face Dye?? Don't think so...he should get a pitch to hit
  4. QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ May 28, 2008 -> 11:57 AM) The worst thing about our pathetic lineup is our pathetic minor league system that has one player who could be considered major league ready. Speaking of minor league system... what is going on with that thread that was closed from Bureau. I found that whole situation very interesting and haven't seen any info since. If it can't be talked about here...can someone PM what's going on.
  5. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ May 28, 2008 -> 08:37 AM) I did watch hockey back in the day. I watched a lot of Probert. He hurt his team more then helped it and only stayed on the Hawks as long as he did because the Wirtz's took him under their wing during the whole rehabilitation that didn't stick. I just think putting him on the list makes a mockery of it. How long he was on the Hawks or what he did on the Hawks means nothing. Maybe you didn't see the rules or maybe you don't care what they were since you didn't send in a list. The bottom line your team needed enforcers back then and he was one of the very best at his job. Enforcers didn't receive many accolades for their role....kinda like O lineman...so I gave him some props. Can I have found 30 or so different people to put in that 20th spot....yeah...but I wanted to give some credit to someone who most people would overlook. He was one of the all time greats, at his job, regardless of what you think of him...that alone is justification for him making my list. Oh and once again...It's an OPINION list...
  6. Looks to be a short stop with Sox By Scot Gregor | Daily Herald Staff Published: 5/27/2008 9:50 PM | Updated: 5/27/2008 10:35 PM CLEVELAND -- Orlando Cabrera might be a good baseball player, but he continues to look like a bad fit for the White Sox. After the 33-year-old shortstop's latest escapade, don't be surprised if Cabrera is either traded before the end of the season or headed to the free-agent market without a contract offer from the Sox. It was quite a scene Tuesday at Progressive Field before the White Sox lost to the Indians 8-2. As manager Ozzie Guillen talked with reporters about Cabrera twice phoning official scorers during games this season to complain about error calls, another newcomer -- relief pitcher Octavio Dotel -- and director of conditioning Allen Thomas had to be separated after exchanging heated words during the team stretch. Say this about the Sox, they aren't boring. "All I know is I want exclusive rights to all networks that are there (in Cleveland) filming this soap opera so I can make it into a reality show,'' said White Sox general manager Kenny Williams, who is not on the road trip. After Williams acquired Cabrera for starting pitcher Jon Garland in a Nov. 19 trade with the Los Angeles Angels, he said: "We saw an opportunity to acquire one of the best shortstops in the game and one of the smartest in the game.'' That may be true, but Cabrera has never appeared comfortable since joining the Sox. The two-time Gold Glover was nearly invisible during spring training, and he consistently has been the first player out of the clubhouse since the season started. That can be overlooked, but Cabrera didn't exactly endear himself to Guillen two weeks ago when he said this about Mike Scioscia, his manager from 2005-07 with the Angels: "With all due respect to managers around the game, I think Scioscia is on another level. This guy, he dominates the opponent, the thinking, all the things that they do, the scouting reports, he has an advantage. I think he's the smartest guy in the game right now, no doubt.'' Cabrera had nothing to say -- expect to the Chicago Tribune -- on Tuesday about calling the official scorers. Needless to say, the act of trying to get errors taken away did not go over well in the White Sox' clubhouse. As for Guillen, he tried to support Cabrera as much as possible. "Everything we ask him to do, he's doing it,'' Guillen said. "You've got to think about it. It's his first year here. He doesn't know how we do things here and he doesn't know too many of the players here. He's going to be uncomfortable. "He's trying to be the leader when he shouldn't have to. We have so many guys here who have played so many years with the White Sox. He doesn't feel left out, but you aren't going to jump in right away and say, 'I'm the guy here.' '' Guillen said he hasn't talked to Cabrera about calling the official scorers. Williams said the issue has been addressed. "Am I aware of some of the stuff that has been going on with Cabrera? Yes,'' Williams said. "I also know it has been addressed to him face to face. The one thing Mr. Cabrera needs to know about Ozzie is he has faults, and his No. 1 fault is that he protects his players too much. "If Orlando doesn't understand that, he needs to talk to his neighbors.'' Question is, will Cabrera's neighbors talk to him? ___________________________________ Personally, I don't think Oz gives a s*** about what OC said about Scioscia. Either way...hopefully OC increases his value
  7. QUOTE (greasywheels121 @ May 27, 2008 -> 03:42 PM) Actually played some bags at a friend's last night. I played on my bags Sunday and got my ass kicked. Sometimes I just can't find my arm slot. My friends and I decided in July '05 if anyone bags all four bags they get to autograph the board and nobody has done it yet. A boatload of 3's but that 4th one never comes through.

    Dinner

I'm guessing you're looking simple and cheap and easy clean up. So here ya go. Pasta with Butter Boil the water, when it's rolling add some salt then the pasta, cook to al dente or your preference. Scoop out about half cup of the pasta water before you drain it. Leave the pasta in the colander and return the pot to the stove. Heat up some extra virgin olive oil and add some butter. When the butter is melted add the pasta back to the pot along with some of the pasta water you scooped out earlier. Mix well and coat all the pasta with the sauce...if it seems a little dry add some more pasta water until you like it. Add garlic powder and some salt and pepper to taste. Add in grated cheese, mix, stir...eat. One meal...One Pot. I didn't give you measurements because you can make as much or as little as you want of this....I would say for half box of pasta you'd use about 2-3 tbsp of butter and 1/4 cup of olive oil. If you had the time and extra cash....I would use freshly grated Parmigiano-Reggiano instead of just grated cheese and I would saute real garlic instead of using garlic powder. Heat the butter, oil and garlic in a separate skillet and pour it over the pasta when its done...but if you want cheap fast easy...this is it. Toss in some broccolli or chicken to add some extra protein and nutrients.
  9. We just call it bags. Cornhole didn't work for me... http://www.playcornhole.org/ Here's my set...It has the beverage holders in the back...I adapted the style from http://www.windycitybags.com/ Dam I see now they have the sides cut...I should do that because mine are real heavy and a b**** to carry.
  10. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ May 27, 2008 -> 10:11 AM) He should never have been near a top 20 list for Chicago athletes. He was better when he played for Detroit, and was never dominant at anything other than fighting. In the top 100 list of Chicago athletes, Bob Probert would not make the cut. OMG! HE FOUGHT TIE DOMI THERE'S BLOOD! Sorry, I am just truly truly offended that Bob Probert of all players made your top 20 list. My lord, how you could rank him over Denis Savard? (sticking with hockey) That's truly absurd. Bob Probert in your top 20 may be the worst decision you've made in your life. To put it in perspective, if I had to choose between invading Iraq all over again or putting Bob Probert on my top 20 list of Chicago athletes, I'd have our country starting this war all over. That last part was a joke, but I think you get the point. That's pretty cool that I was able to offend you by listing some players on a message board....First off the list isn't top chicago athletes, Second, I know he was better when he was with Detroit, but that has nothing to do with the list...it's not just Chicago players...it's players that have passed through Chicago. Didn't you read that when you turned in your list? You did turn one in didn't you? Probert was a dominating force throughout his hockey career at his role. If you were a hockey fan back in the day...you knew who he was, pretty much worldwide. And if I want to give a guy like that credit at #20 on MY list...I will. Savard was a much better all around hockey player....I would never argue that, but Probert dominated the job he was assigned and was one of the toughest guys to ever put on the skates.
  11. QUOTE (Texsox @ May 26, 2008 -> 11:17 AM) Is it safe to say that the Bears have an amazing tradition an Middle Linebacker? It's interesting that the Bears seem to be so heavily represented. Yeah I had Urlacher, Butkus & Singletary....5,6,7. To Milkman...I think this list had just as much to do with personal choice as the comedy list. There was no criteria on what makes them the greatest....It's your own preference...be it world renowned, most popular, most athletic, most dominant...or whatever. As long as they're great players. I easily could have left Banks off of my list. I knew nothing about the dude. All I knew is he was a famous cub. That's it...I knew nothing about his accomplishments or anything. He was a Cub. I never discussed the Cubs while growing up...and since Banks was way before my time anyway....we definitely didn't talk about past players. I just think calling someone a f***in idiot for leaving a player off an opinion based list is ludicrous. I left Pip off mine...and I can toally see how someone who didn't follow the Sox would leave Frank off of theirs. Thanks to the media he was more known for his flareups than his accomplishments...so if you weren't a Sox follower...He might not be the first to pop into your head. Here's my list for those of you that want to ridicule I kinda ranked people who passed thru Chicago and were big time sports stars known nationally and even internationally and I also took athelticism in to consideration. Hence, why I have mostly hockey and football guys ranked at the top. Then at the bottom I had to put in some players that I felt were just flat out dominant in Chicago, whether they got that national recognition or not. Walter Payton Michael Jordan Bobby Hull Chris Chelios Brian Urlacher Dick Butkus Mike Singletary Gale Sayers Stan Makita Richard Dent Carlton Fisk Frank Thomas Jim Thome Ernie Banks Ryne Sandburg Dan Hampton Doug Atkins Nellie Fox Keith Magnuson Bob Probert
  12. Well I think this is pretty f***ed up. You want to make your case after the game or something fine...but during the game...he should be focused on winning. That is not being a team player...or setting an example for your teammates...that is being selfish and worried about how an error might look when you're a FA next year.
  13. QUOTE (Gregory Pratt @ May 23, 2008 -> 11:41 AM) I have questions about Quentin. When I heard players refer to him as "Little Canseco," even if he does look like him and he does stand like him it certainly evokes steroids. Is he? I make no allegation. I simply have suspicions. Puke...I can't believe you even wrote this. In fact, the whole article is puke. It's like I'm in that Seinfeld backwards episode. Baseball today, has the strictest standards regarding PDA's it has ever had. I know they're still not perfect, but if anything, the guys performing now should be applauded more than any in the past 15 years. As for you passing any judgment whatsoever on someone because of a nickname....it's just beyond f***ed up.
  14. WTF does he have to make that call for..Napoli is checking down on ever check swing there is....
  15. QUOTE (mr_genius @ May 23, 2008 -> 09:17 PM) The DH situation needs to be addressed. Thome can't hit We have enough power...lets get a speedy little s*** with a high OBP to take over DH and bat him first.
  16. QUOTE (fathom @ May 23, 2008 -> 09:15 PM) Yeah, and hopefully you don't think I'm mad at you at all. nah..but I certainly didn't intend for it to go where it did....I just thought Floyd had a lot of upside and was judged a little to early.. I like your pessimism, it keeps the board spinning on its axis.
  17. QUOTE (fathom @ May 23, 2008 -> 09:10 PM) SS2k I think, not sure. I laughed at the comment at first, then realized I had made it....OOPS! I bumped it...SS2k posted your comment.
  18. QUOTE (Gregory Pratt @ May 23, 2008 -> 09:07 PM) Fathom keeps offering his wife up on this board. One of these days, someone's going to take you up on that bet, too! maybe that's why he keeps offering her up
  19. I was just about to post "OC continues to not impress" then he gets a base knock...I'll take it
