  1. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Jul 21, 2005 -> 02:28 AM) Dude, you are Crazy. You have no clue what you are talking about. Rowand at his current level is a steal for anything less than $5M a year on the FA market Let's put it in terms you can understand... Mark Kotsay, just weeks ago, signed a contract extension that paid him $15M for two years. Here are Kotsay's career numbers. .285/.341/.422 and Rowand's .289/.341/.456 They are defensive equals, maybe a slight nod to Kotsay. Kotsay is making 6.5M this year, and will make 7 M in 06 & 07, then & 8M in '08. Rowand's three year contract was for 8.5M -- If you wanted to trade him, there would be 29 other teams beating down our door to take the guy off our hands at that price.
  2. QUOTE(Soxfest @ Jul 21, 2005 -> 01:36 AM) Market is not that great for a 1 year wonder Dude, you are Crazy. You have no clue what you are talking about. Rowand at his current level is a steal for anything less than $5M a year on the FA market
  3. He threw out the first pitch at the Sox game a short bit ago too.
  4. QUOTE(Brian @ Jul 20, 2005 -> 11:16 PM) Middle of the summer, pennant races heating up, trade deadline approaching, and we get 20 minutes of baseball tonight??? I love the NFL, but isn't it too early for NFL Live, not to mention taking time away from Baseball Tonight. This is garbage! And now they are giving Steven A. Smith his own show. Geez! It's on every night at 9PM central --- Well not fridays, and I'm not sure on the weekend, but M-Th it's on at 9PM, then they do a short 'trifecta' at 11PM
  5. Tomorrow is guaranteed to no one
  6. QUOTE(Soxfest @ Jul 20, 2005 -> 10:31 PM) He got WAY overpaid for 1 good year and he has his money now, he is not really all that good and is on cruise control, I would trade him if someone would take him? I don't think you have a very clear idea of what he would make on the free agent market. -- Aaron is struggling, yes. -- One thing he's not is overpaid.
  7. Dude, the guy won the first Heisman, then was the first player drafted in the NFL... How is he getting .2% of the vote? -- Damn Bush Voters.
  8. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Jul 20, 2005 -> 06:47 PM) Douglass was far from impressive. He may have shown superior location in previous starts, but what I observed was a pitcher missing his spots and hitters flailing away at crap in the dirt. Honestly, he reminded me of a pitcher our organization would draft: low 90's fastball, low to mid 80's curveball. Except if he were sporting our jersey no team would be missing his meatballs. Even Hawk, who's willing to conjure any excuse explaining a pitiful White Sox performance, thought our offense would hit Douglass hard unless he threw with pinpoint control. I didn't observe pinpoint control, but rather an offense confused by a soft-tossing pitcher with weak control and equally terrible 'stuff.' What I saw from Douglass was a guy who 'got it.' Nothing he threw got more than a couple of inches above the knees. You say he threw in the dirt. That's what he does. If you can pound the bottom of the zone with fastball, then throw an offspeed pitch from the same arm angle on the same plane as the fastball it's going to end up in the dirt, but halfway to the plate it looks like fastball low in the zone. There's not much you can do. Major leaque hitters are going to be swinging. -- You make mistakes low they don't go anywhere. You make mistakes up, there's runs on the board. Oh noes! he threw the ball in the dirt. Good for him. He knows how to pitch. Douglass is now what McCarthy will be in a year or two when he starts putting it together.

  10. There are too many people at the game. We don't play well in front of a big crowd :rolly
  11. DMITRI STILL IS TEH SUXOR
  12. Yep, just like the Orioles
  13. Aaron & Dye: 12 pitches - 0 outs Pablo, Uribe, Widge & Gooch - 6 pitches - 3 outs Hooray for patience
  14. That was smart :rolly:
  15. QUOTE(CYGarland @ Jul 20, 2005 -> 03:28 PM) Dmitri's on deck, and he just missed a homer last ab. I'll take my chances w/ Maggs. DMITRI IS TEH SUX!ONEon31!
  16. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jul 20, 2005 -> 03:26 PM) Large crowd = s***ty performance. Are you just trying a reverse jinx here? Last time we used this excuse, We put up a 5 spot the next inning.
  17. We look like the Orioles.
  18. Time to make Orioles suck thread. Both team played like crap that series.
  19. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Jul 20, 2005 -> 02:32 PM) I want to know why Iowa has 200,000 more votes than Indiana... I told you those results were bulls***
  20. QUOTE(robinventura23 @ Jul 20, 2005 -> 02:02 PM) I still don't get it. Since we're in a rain delay, and there's nothing better to do.... Littlefield is the Pittsburgh GM. Shelton was one of a long line of Pirates prospects who were left unprotected in the Rule 5 draft -- I believe they lost 5 players two years ago. There's no excuse for that, especially when your team is not good. -- Anyway Shelton was claimed by the Tigers for the large sum of $50K because Pittsburgh was more interested in protecting other players and having an empty spot on their roster so they could make moves like claiming Amezega and Restovich, who were cut by the one team worse than them in the NL. In other words, I was making fun of the Pittsburgh GM for being stupid, which is nothing new.
  21. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jul 20, 2005 -> 01:54 PM) And hence why the game threads suck anymore. 3/4s of the posts are b****ing about Konerko, and there isn't one post in this whole thread that actually has what matters most... THE SCORE OF THE GAME! :headshake There was my Dave Littlefield joke that nobody got.
  22. That's a routine play for Crede
  23. QUOTE(robinventura23 @ Jul 20, 2005 -> 01:20 PM) Littlefield doesn't know who Shelton is either. This joke, of course, assumes you know who Littlefield is.
  24. QUOTE(robinventura23 @ Jul 20, 2005 -> 01:13 PM) :puke :puke :puke Who the f*** is this Shelton guy? I didn't know Dave Littlefield posted on Soxtalk :wink
