Thanks, but the one thing I think you missed was his atitude out there on the mound.. The Closers role in SF seemed to energize him. He challenged the hitters. He seemed so fired up every time he was out there in a pressure situation.
-
I was gonna post a link, but you broke the internet.
-
I was thinking about this during lunch... I would love to see Cotts get some more development time as a starter in AAA. The more innings he can pitch, the better. The more he learns to get himself out of jams the better. The past season with him coming in out of the pen, and geting pulled in favor of firemen spreading gasoline on his fires, did nothing to help the development of promising young pitcher.

Ok then, Just to help some people out... Here's the guys who are under 6 years of service, and what I expect the sox to do in the next couple weeks. Juan Uribe -- Arbitration Eligible -- Sox will try to avoid arbitration and give him a 1 year deal before the 19th. They will re-evaluate Uribe at the end of the year as to whether he is worthy of a multi-year deal and an everyday SS or 2B role. Aaron Rowand -- Arbitration Eligible -- Sox will try to avoid arbitration and give him a 1 year deal. During the upcoming season I see the Sox trying to work out a 3 year extension. Timo Perez -- Arbitration Eligible -- They'll offer him arbitration, and will look to avoid it with a 1 year contract, but it wouldn't suprise me if they can't get one done that he has to go through entire process. Ben Davis -- Arbitration Eligible -- same as Timo -- In the unlikely event that he is performing well throughout most of the 2005 season, I could see the Sox signing him to a two year extension before the season is out. Scot Schoeneweis -- Arbitration Eligible -- Sox will guage his interest over the next couple weeks, and decide how he fits in with their plans. If both sides can agree Scot will be pitching for the sox in some capacity next season. If they can't reach an agreement, he's likely to become non-tendered, making him an outright free-agent.
-
Ring is available for all who wish to spend 50K, as is Webster. That's very telling as to how much the Met and Rangers respectively value their services. Any trade where you have to pay all of Timo's salary, and give up ANYTHING in return is a total failure.
-
If he was, we would have had to offer him arbitration if we didn't have him signed by last night, in order to continue talks with him, or have any hope that he would be a part of the team before May 1. He has 6 years of Major league service, which would tell me that he is a 6-year FA, but I'm assuming, based on not seeing his name in the not offered arbitration list and KW's comments, that he didn't accumulate enough time on the roster in his first season to qualify as a year of service. If you can follow that, although he has played 6 years in the Bigs, I think he's got one more year of Arb eligibilty before he's a FA.
-
Like soxy said, in the summer that's fine, i wouldn't feel too bad with that layover. But in winter, you're running a much bigger risk of having longer delays. Also, Don't check any bags if you've got a layover... Use two smaller bags, like one of those roller things and a backpack and carry them on.

I understand that the December 20th date that KW is refering to in the Non-tender deadline. If I'm reading this correctly, which I don't do often(I don't speak legalese), Shoeneweis falls into the category of arbitration eligible, but not a FA. I assume that KW's quote means they are trying to get something worked out with him without having to go the arbitration route, and would non-tender him, or work out a trade to get rid of him prior to the 20th? Is that right?

I meant just for those two Guys... I think Bowden could concievably land both of them. (I don't know what his budget) Given the same price, I would prefer Perez to Ortiz, though I think Ortiz is going to command more.

Pages 12-16 was amatuer night at the Ha-Ha hut.
-
I've gotta believe that KW has his hat in the O. Perez chase. I know he'll be in the Russ Ortiz raffle too. So basically, it's going to come down to who is stupider, Jim Bowden or KW. At the first turn, it's too close to call.

Yeah, and I'm not posting what's so funny about that response. Getting that joke is like being in an exclusive club. I posted to the Quotes of the month thread and called you the Dennis Miller of Soxtalk.

From the Kelly Wunch thread: Rex is the Dennis Miller of Soxtalk. -
That's gonna go over so many heads.

Then there should have been 29 open GM spots for you to interview for this off-season. There weren't, so obviously your assertion is wrong.

You were probably on holiday, but seibu took him off the market -- just a 1-year deal though. If he's healthy, he'll be in the states next year. -
Tate was the best quarterback in the big ten... He lead his team to a B10 title without a running game (Iowa's leading rusher had 210 yards!!!, on the season!!!) Every team knew all they had to do was stop Tate and they'd beat Iowa. He was their only weapon. -- In the final game of the year facing a top 10 team, with a big ten title on the line, he lead his team to a 3 touchdown victory. That same day, with a B10 title and rose bowl birth on the line, hart was busy rushing for 63 yards in the biggest game of the season for his team.. His own coach even said before the game, you've had a nice season, but we'll see if you're a "a real big ten" running back vs. OSU. The hiesman is often won in the closing weeks of the season on one signature play. Tate had a signature play. -- With under 2 minutes left in the 1st half Wisconsin tied the game at 7, Iowa gets the ball at about their own 30. Less than a minute later, with the ball sitting at about midfield, Tate rolled right out of the pocket, but Wisconsin sent a blitzing LB from that side, he came through almost untouched. Tate pulled his patented spin move back towards the pocket, spun his head back downfield, saw he had an open man, and threw a fifty yard pass, off his wrong foot for a TD.

KW on the radio Wednesday
Gene Honda Civic replied to Al Lopez Ghost (old)'s topic in Pale Hose Talk
I heard that call, then they said that's like being the tallest midget.... But wait, if the sox have 3 guys who are better at closing games than the cubs closer, and Hendry hasn't done s*** to address that issue, why is he getting any praise at all? -

They think Contreras is a good pitchre but not Garcia? or Garland? Blanco was signed purely to be Maddux's personal catcher -- I haven't seen terms, but I suspect it's the same, or possibly more than he turned down in Minnesota, that essentially means Hendry is paying Maddux about $12M dollars. -
I'm disappointed that he still thinks he can play. I'm dismayed that someone else thinks he can still play... for Cleveland GM Jon Hart is running thinks down in Tejas now, so it's, as ozzie would say, "like a high school reunion"
