yep. and being [/dohtml]

They're not just looking for a replacement for Damon Andrews. They look like they are just trying something else out to broaden thier market. Another Brooks Boyer Original, I think. http://www.fsnchicago.com/soxopenmic.php

You have to add the UBB code *dohtml* tag... Replace the "*" with "[" and "]" Just like all other UBB tags, you should have an opening and closing tags. [tagname] [/tagname]... to place html into a post, replace "tagname" with "dohtml" and paste html portion between the tags.

Derek Lowe of the 6.55ERA Lowe's? Lowe would have commanded more last year. But if you put together his season last year, and projectied this year. 4.47ERA 200IP More Hits than IP 6+ ERA Boras probably could get 7MIL for that, but that doesn't compare at all to Loaiza.
-
Nope -- that's brand new news. Or at least it's official now. The Gonzalez pick looks like a great one now that he's signed.

What would you pay a starter, who Hypothetically, over the past two years has put up numbers like this 21Wins 2.91ERA 220+IP 15-17Wins 3.75ERA 220+IP What's the going rate for a guy who averages 17 wins in a season? There's no real injury question surrounding E-lo. IMO if you sign him to a short 2 year deal, he's a safer bet than Bartolo was last year, and look what he got. The only thing going against E-lo is his age, and look what Old guys have done in recent years. Clemens, Moyer, Rogers.

add to that the fact that Ginter didn't look like he was going to make an impact in ST. That's right he was here in ST. None of you were complaining about his mishandling then. None of you were suggesting that he should be considered for the 5th starter spot. He wasn't likely to make this team in any form out of camp. He was traded for a guy who clearly was going to make the club, and fill a definite role, I don't see the point in complaining about it now. /I hate Timo too. So that should make my responce even more meaningful.

I think it's 50/50 on whether E-Lo is back or not. If he is back, it will most likely be at a much larger price than most here are suggesting. If he has himself a decent season, like he seams to be doing. 15-17 wins ERA under 4, 220+IP. He's going to be looking at a big payday. 7.5MIL/YR would be a starting point 10MIL/yr is not out of the question. Deoending on the bidders, and the season he put together this year, It could go much higher. He was already in the top 6 in the AL in the Elias Sports Bureau ranking of SP for FA compensation. Those rankings are based on the previous 2 years. So putting together a season that's better than his 2002(which shouldn't be difficult, 5.71ERA in 150IP in 2002) would only increase his standing. He'd likely be in the top 3 in the AL over the last 2 years. He'd be due to be compensated like a top 3 SP in the AL. In short, if he's back, he'll cost $$$$

Hardballtimes.com just happened to do a piece checking in on the "Moneyball" draft class today. Check it out. http://www.hardballtimes.com/main/article/...oneyball-again/

That was the last time the white sox have negotiated with a Boras FA.

you're correct there. The straw that broke the camel's back with Boras though, was the Arod negotiations.

Couple two tree tings I'd like to bitch about

Myth busters proved that for one variable. Only one rate of rain, and only the speed of those two slow ass nerds. Hardly scientific. If either guy was faster, or the rain came down slower, the result would be different. -
By my calculations, with the rainout, everyone should be rested sufficiently enough to not need a 5th starter until the 19th.

They'll play for most of the night trying to get it in. The Phillies obviously don't come back into town, and there are only 8 off days for the sox left for the season. -
I guess I didn't learn anything in scouts. I quit service hours short of Life.(too many other obligations at that time) I've helped save two different people, and have been rescued once myself. Once was as a life guard and involved a head injury, I wasn't thinking about taking off what little clothing I was wearing. The other was while at a waterpark, and I didn't have to worry about my clothing. The one time I was rescued, I had fallen through the ice, and the only way to get me was by branches, considering I only weighed about 60 pounds at the time, If I fell through the ice, everyone else would as well.

On a somewhat related note, Why do people take thier shoes off before going into the water to rescue someone. I say this becuase the women who was first to arrive on scene, took off her shoes before getting into the water to help. Was she thinking, "He looks like he's doing fine there. a few seconds in this life or death situation aren't going to matter. Plus, these are damn nice kicks, and have you seen what water can do to suede." Also when a person commits suicide by jumping off a bridge, they almost always take off thier shoes first. WhY?

Sox vs. Philly GAME 3 - the official game thread

He put him out there, but he gets charged 2ER for the 2 baserunners he allowed. Adkins allowed 3 baserunners, Cotts bailed him out, no ER. BK meanwhile, allowed 5 baserunners, and only is charged 1ER. Just another reason why ERA isn't a good measurement to judge Relief pitchers. Cotts got his job done, Cleaned up for Adkins, was not allowed to clean up his own mess. -- I wouldn't be defending the guy if those runs scored on his watch. BK didn't get his job done, and created a bigger mess, allowing his own runners to score, even though he was working with a shortened inning (1 out when he came in) -

He wasn't given the chance to prevent those runs from scoring. And bringing in Billy(I let the last 6 guys I've faced reach base)Koch come in to clean up isn't going to help. Cotts may have let one of those two baserunners score. But bringing in BK made it a certainty. We probably still lose, so whats the differece right? The difference is the Winning or tying run is coming to the plate in the bottom of the 9th if Koch doesn't pitch in that game. -

Paul Abbott signed with the Phillies -- Guess they need a fifth starter too Rick Helling should be in the Rangers rotation in a couple of weeks. Todd Ritchie will learn his fate with the Twins this week.

Time for Frank Thomas to get even hotter?

Paulie was drafted as a Catcher. Why not play him there? -
Prices come crashing down the day of the game... Prior to that "brokers" are able to hold out for highest bidders. But every ticket they get stuck with in hand is lost money, so at the very last minute tickets can come awfully cheap. If you can find them.
-
You could go to 5 regular games for the same price you are going to pay to go to a single sox/cubs game.
