It's the marketing departments job to get the fans excited about coming out to the park. Hmmm, I wonder what they would be tring to attempt with misinformation. After 3 days of the NY media reporting maggs wouldn't sign an extension -- Which I said was total bulls*** -- The sox(your friend) finally decided to combat bulls*** with buls***. Sure some people may get excited, but those people believe everything they read or hear.

Terrible news. I doubt Borchard will be up. He's got many nagging injuries too, and hasn't played in a while.

Ok I just now read the article. KW sign this guy!!!! There's He'll only have to go 5 times before the all-star break if we sign him-- June 12th vs. ATL June 19th @ MTL June 24th vs. CLE June 30th/July 1 @ Min -- I'm sure he will pitch the game of his life vs. the Twinkies after them not giving him a chance. Buy this time it's July, and we all know KW can make a deal by then. He then goes to the pen, and politte can be shown the door -- Helling was nasty out of the pen last year. If need be, he can make one more start before the ASB vs. ANA or SEA-- There are then 17 days without a day off after the ASB. So if he's doing well, and we haven't gotten anyone else before the deadline, he would get 3 more starts(Tex and DETx2), before the dealing really gets going. This sounds to me like the perfect stop-gap guy until something else gets worked out... GET IT DONE KW. -

Helling's numbers so far this year in the minors. International League » Rochester Red Wings 5/27 to 6/1 W L SV ERA G IP H R ER BB KO HR 1 0 0 0.00 1 7 4 0 0 1 2 0 Eastern League » New Britain Rock Cats 4/8 to 5/27 W L SV ERA G IP H R ER BB KO HR 1 2 0 4.94 5 31 30 18 17 11 21 5 Less than impressive at AA, but he had one nice start recently at AAA. Get Him!!! what do we have to lose? one in every 5-6 games? -
I'm sure Beane is looking to take on payroll, and give up two players including a Cy Young winner, for an very consistently above average right fielder. Not to mention that further clogs our 1B/DH situation.

I think it may have factored into our offseason moves or rathe lack of them -- I know there was some guys I wanted to shore up the rotation, Rogers, Lidle, Redman, that probably weren't even on the sox radar.

You've got to tip your cap to Duchscherer too.
-
Well he had fricken' 70 RBI's by the break.

2 years ago there was a large write in campaign for Konerko, as I recall he only got like 80,000 or something like that -- But I could be making that up

Sox Losing 5-4 Man on second 2 outs. Sox up two winning run at the plate -- nobody out. Tie Game -- 9th inning 1-0 game

So dont' listen -- Here's the scouting report on our minor league system: Every player is a piece of s***. Not one will amount to anything in the big leagues. There now if you believe that scouting report you can only be pleasantly surprised and can't complain about the HYPE.

Kip is a damn Fine pitcher who you No doubt gave up on too early -- If you don't want to hear about our prospects, you don't have to listen.

Repost from the GameThread ------------------------------- I've defended Neal pretty vehemently here before, but he's got to learn how to pitch. He knows how to throw pitches, but he needs to learn what he can throw, when, and where. Lecroy, Morneau, Phelps, and now Kielty, he threw Change-ups up in the zone. Actually I don't remember what he threw LeCroy, That one looked more like a fly out -- But I think that was an 0-2 pitch.

Yeah look what happens when you pick in the top 10 --- Something we haven't done since then. -
Am I the only one who realizes that even if we do resign maggs, it will only be a rental. The deal, if there actually was a deal offered, which is debatable, is likely backloaded. Or deferred. And that's just smart on the White Sox part. Look at the Minor League system. Reed and Borchard @ AAA, Anderson & Sweeney @ high A, plus Nanita, Young, Bikowski, Valenzuela -- Granted not all will make it to the major league level, or contribute as much as maggs when they get there. But they should all be ariving in the next 1-4 years. A five year deal for maggs, overlaps all of thier projected arrivals. It makes sense to ship out the aging overpriced player at some point within the 5-year deal... The sox definitely want to have a deal that would allow them to pick up a small part of the price tag.
