  1. QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 27, 2006 -> 09:36 PM) Good stuff by Flash and Jim in this thread. The thing I've learned about our prospects in the last 5 years it that most of them have low ceilings. Thus, many of them end up putting up better numbers in AA than they could ever dream of putting up in the majors. However, this gets us a lot of value for them on the trade market, and now that we're spending money, it's paying off into talented veterans. Fields and Young are our two most "dynamic" prospects in the last 5 years (since Borchard). I was very disappointed to see Young go....and will hate to see Fields get traded for a 2 month rental. Fields has hit for less power than Ryan Sweeney for almost 2 months now. If you have a buyer for him, ship him out! He wasn't very good last year, and hasn't been anything special since the beginning of June. His hot first two months at Charlotte made him a top prospect, but every day he spends not matching those totals brings him ever closer to the dreaded Borchard name you've already envoked. Sell! to anyone who's willing to buy his 2 months of shiny 1.000 OPS in the bandbox.
  2. QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 27, 2006 -> 05:31 PM) This board is going to erupt if the Twins add Lee, the Tigers add Soriano....and we do nothing. I'm not saying we have to make a major move, but some type of offensive spark would be great. It's so important for KW to add a righty outfielder who can play solid defense/run. Hell, bring back Darren Lewis from retirement. The Twins could add Lee and the Tigers Soriano, and we could still beat them with our current roster. The pitching would just have to perform up to expectations... Which I think is unlikely to happen. We'll only go as far as our pitching takes us, no matter what the other teams in our division do.
  3. More bullspiff stats. -- And I'm not saying that Vazquez doesn't struggle with men on base -- It's just... How the heck do you calculate ERA given base situations? It doesn't make any sense.
  4. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Jul 26, 2006 -> 06:22 PM) Remember all that talk about the production the Indians were getting from that first base platoon? Now both Eduardo Perez and Broussard have been traded to the M's. Which essentially means VMart's days as a catcher are numbered/over.
  5. LaMura was a AA All-Star too!
  6. QUOTE(Rex Hudler @ Jul 26, 2006 -> 04:46 PM) Iowa must have a ton of really small schools or something, because having track, tennis, golf and baseball going at the same time (or some similar combination) happens in every state. By the way, where does wrestling fit in?? Council Bluffs Souix City Iowa City Des Moines Quad Cities Dubuque That's the 6 areas where I imagine high schools with enrollment much over 1000. So yeah the state is filled with smaller schools.
  7. It looks like CBS has changed their format..... Anyone know how to crack the code?
  8. Mark Buehrle -- 20 HRs allowed. 82 runs allowed. Jon Garland -- 19 HRs allowed. 66 runs allowed.
  9. I believe this marks the fourth straight game in which the Sox have failed to have a hit with runners in scoring position. Can anyone confirm or deny?
  10. QUOTE(JimH @ Jul 25, 2006 -> 09:05 PM) Good for you ... WTF. You are easily amused I guess. Maybe put it on your blog. It would easily be one of your better entries. WTF dude. I don't know how anything could ever stack up to your witty 'I'll beat you up you nerdy blogger' posts.
  11. QUOTE(JimH @ Jul 25, 2006 -> 09:00 PM) No I don't care about the longball, nor do I care about any of the stats. QUOTE(GoRowand33 @ Jul 25, 2006 -> 09:01 PM) Brian Anderson will homer here QUOTE(JimH @ Jul 25, 2006 -> 09:01 PM) Holding you to that Row.
  12. QUOTE(JimH @ Jul 25, 2006 -> 09:00 PM) No I don't care about the longball, nor do I care about any of the stats. WTF, I just watch the games and root for a winner, I'm not a blogger. WTF. What they need to do is put together better at bats, what a concept, WTF. I printing this one out and putting it on my fridge. I nearly spit pepsi on my laptop.
  13. QUOTE(JimH @ Jul 25, 2006 -> 08:56 PM) 1 run game now, WTF. And still 1 run that wasn't via the HR in the last 80+ against Santana... Keep rooting for the longball. You only need 2 more.
  14. QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 25, 2006 -> 08:55 PM) I have a question...and someone correct me if I'm wrong. Was Sandy Alomar sorta standing prior to the forkball to Bartlett? If so, that's just extremely stupid. Yes. Veteran presence appeared to call for a high Forker.
  15. Honestly, who looked at the scheduled starters and thought this was going to be anything other than a loss? We have 1 run that wasn't via the HR off of Santana in the last 80+ innings. WTF did you think was going to happen?
  16. 0-2 hanger.... I'm sure that was Sandy's veteran presence calling that one.
  17. You can not stop Jason Tyner, you can only hope to contain him.' /here comes the double steal.
  18. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Jul 25, 2006 -> 08:16 PM) Exactly. Which makes me wonder why they can be so terrible. They're just slumping
