QUOTE(SleepyWhiteSox @ Jun 8, 2006 -> 11:56 PM) That was a jennifer grey-ish move... Looks like she filled in/shaved down the Popeye chin too? That too. All that's left is to hit the pages of Playboy

There are 2,204 blog entries featuring the words "Ashlee Simpson" and "nose job," most with stunning visual evidence. Ashlee denies everything. That's just her back-up nose. I'm surprised Papa Joe didn't make an MTV special out of it. "My daughter looked like a witch, now she can pass for homely. Still can't sing."

QUOTE(Cuck the Fubs @ Jun 8, 2006 -> 10:44 PM) I f***ing hate it. My dad would watch the re-runs at 7 AM, and one day my brother was watching with him. My dad always watches it in spanish. So when a goal was scored and the broadcasters went GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL!!! my brother yelled GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL!!!! f***ing woke me up. Don't be so upset. It was probably time for your bottle anyway. -
QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Jun 8, 2006 -> 09:55 PM) So having Uribe, Anderson and the pitcher batting consecutively is a good idea? Well we could put Thome at SS or CF. How would that please you. You're talking about two of the best defensive players in the league.
-
You have to have Anderson on the roster during the NL games. If you shorten your bench, and have Mack in CF, with Pablo and Gload as your OF backups, we're primed for many more 5+ run innings thanks to our ridiculous defense.

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jun 8, 2006 -> 11:01 AM) That's the thing that's been driving me nuts about the kid too, I can't find a single obvious thing he's doing wrong at the plate. With a guy like Uribe, or when Crede stops hitting, usually the mechanical mistake they're making is obvious (and it's usually flying open way too early and trying to pull an outside pitch). But with Anderson, I haven't seen him doing that, he looks like he's keeping his shoulders closed, he's taking a short stride, he's shifting his weight, he looks like he's doing everything right, except every time he hits the ball it goes straight at someone. Maybe the kid needs glasses. This seems correct, but it's not like he's been unlucky out there either. He's simply not putting the sweet spot of the bat on the ball. Everything is off the handle or off the end of the bat. That's why everything is so easily fielded. I honestly believe that he just got afraid of striking out at tries to make contact with 2 strikes, which results in lots of weak outs. And the real troubling part is when he swings early in the count, he still doesn't put the fat part of the bat on the ball.

steadily climbed? He's been stuck on 107 ABs since at least mid May, if not earlier. -
QUOTE(Jim Spencer @ Jun 7, 2006 -> 09:48 PM) He can hit, but I'm still wondering when were going to see the power. http://www.soxtalk.com/forums/index.php?s=...dpost&p=1164405 Probably next year if he's at AAA, at least two seasons if he's up at the bigs next year.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jun 7, 2006 -> 06:29 PM) Neal Cotts was in the walk every two innings category in the minors as well... we all know how he turned out. Yeah, he walked 17 in his first 13 innings pitched. -
QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Jun 7, 2006 -> 04:37 PM) That Rios kid isn't looking too shabby either. The most encouraging thing about Rios is he's one of Ryan Sweeney's best minor league comps.... Rios would struggle at AAA and the Majors in his age 23 season, and again in his age 24 season, before finally showing his potential at the major league level this season. Sweeney is generally a year or more younger at each level, but has yet to really have his breakout. He may not possess the same untapped power that was promised of Rios, but he'll have good pop. Eventually.

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jun 6, 2006 -> 05:16 PM) The Red Sox just drafted Laporta. Is there a reason he fell this far? High K rate. Needs to improve strike zone control. Decreased power because of injury. Scott Boras. He's only a junior, so once he slipped past the first couple rounds, he'll go back to school. Considering he was considered one of the top college position players entering the year, he needs to go back to school unless the redsox throw a ton of money at him, which isn't out of the question.

QUOTE(Palehosefan @ Jun 6, 2006 -> 04:18 PM) Love this Chris Duffy pick, if we can sign him. Has a strong arm at 3B, and a smooth lefty stroke, somewhat reminds me of David Ortiz's swing. Watching the MLB.com video, yeah I would say a young Ortiz is a good comparison. I have no insight into his plate approach, but he appeared patient, waiting to hit his pitch as hard as possible. He smashed one foul in the video that made me say WOah!

QUOTE(maggsmaggs @ Jun 6, 2006 -> 03:17 PM) He sounds like a future starter while Getz is viewed most likely as a utility player. Getz is the "safer" pick in that he's a plus defender at second, with the possibilty to fill in at short, and has extremely good strike zone control. Shelby has a higher upside with his power and speed, but has obvious holes in his swing which could prevent him from ever reaching the bigs.

QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Jun 6, 2006 -> 02:55 PM) I don't think Tyler Reeves is bad. Give me a guy who could hit .300 with 13 hr's anyday. He sounds like an AJ Pierzynski clone. Anyone know how good of a game he calls? Guys who "hit .300" in college are a dime a dozen. His nearly 2:1 K/BB ratio in college speaks volumes about hitting ability. For comparison's sake, Josh Fields, in the same conference, was about 1:1

QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 6, 2006 -> 02:30 PM) I really like our pick that late in the first round. I don't care if a pitcher is a power guy or finesse. I want a guy that knows how to get hitters out. Let's think about how Kenny uses his minor leaguers too. He sees prospects, as just that. Not major leaguers, but guys who can be used to get real major leaguers. Draft and develop polished college arms, who may not be spectacular, but should always have trade value.

QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 5, 2006 -> 10:00 PM) I heard a legit rumor that the Sox are interested in taking a North Carolina high school pitcher in the 2nd or 3rd round. His last name is White, and they've offered him a pretty big deal. My source wasn't very impressed with him. In general, add a round or two to what you've heard. They're probably high on 15-20 guys who they have slotted as 2nd or 3rd rounders, they'll take the guy they're highest on and hope some of the others slip.

QUOTE(rudylaw @ Jun 5, 2006 -> 05:48 PM) I think the Sox struggle agaist lefties because Scotty and AJ are always on the bench. You can't fault Ozuna... He's .395/.439/.658 against lefties this season. Widger hasn't been very productive though....185/.281/.259 -

I vote for sticking with the BA banner for at least a game, and see how he fares. They're facing a lefty though, so the Sox may be doomed anyways.
