  1. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ May 23, 2006 -> 12:36 AM) That slider of his is nasty when he throws it for strikes. If he can do that, along with keeping the walks under control (I believe he only has 3 actual walks), he'll be damn good. His slider is flat and only effective when a righty chases one thrown at his knees.
  2. QUOTE(whitesoxin @ May 23, 2006 -> 12:28 AM) For those who were at the game, what was with the little kid announcing the players? That sort of ruined his second at bat, and I think some of the people booing were booing because she sucked at announcing. Gene Honda is the man. That's one of the White Sox' USCF "experience" packages. I suppose Honda likes it. He can go get himself a Koser dog an brew that inning.
  3. He still needs a secondary pitch. He has been better than I expected, which is encouraging. But a few dominant outings, then a few wild terrible ones, has been his style for his entire career. Until he cuts the wild ones out, and finds a secondary pitch so that the longball isn't a problem, I'm not putting him in many high-leverage situations. He is tantalizing though.
  4. QUOTE(WinningUgly85 @ May 22, 2006 -> 05:07 PM) What are the chances that we would retire Frank's number this season? It just might happen tonight.
  5. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ May 22, 2006 -> 04:35 PM) Garcia is not even over 30, it's not like hes an old man. Garcia isn't an old man, but he's starting to throw like one. Garland hasn't had much success this year, but his stuff is still there. Because of Jon's poor start, he'll probably finish the season with a higher ERA and less W's than Freddy this season, but I think he's a better bet to be successful long term.
  6. QUOTE(SSH2005 @ May 22, 2006 -> 04:28 PM) For a starting pitcher, 27 is young. If you're on the Cubs, you're still a prospect.
  7. QUOTE(kyyle23 @ May 21, 2006 -> 10:25 AM) http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=2452645 Eh, I dont agree with this. I think a retractable roof is almost mandatory for the Twins. They just dont have a long enough summer. Watching one of the MIL/MIN games this weekend the announcers were talking about the proposal, which included piping in heat manufactured as a byproduct of a nearby garbage burning plant. It sounded like they plan on running heat under the stadium to keep the field a constant playable temperature. And maybe the radiant heat would help make the stadium a bit warmer than expected.
  8. Bump. Oh wait, this is a new thread. Tough to tell.
  9. I think Nelson was topping out at 87 last year, so it's not like it's a precipitous drop. That being said, I've heard the same thing. Nelson is far from the most impressive reliever in Charlotte. Which is saying something, considering how overmatched Mr. Montero has looked.
  10. QUOTE(kyyle23 @ May 21, 2006 -> 11:24 AM) Whoa, is that THE G-man? The same G-Man who has been suspended from pretty much every sox website ever created? That was my assumption. He was trolling some Cubbie sites yesterday.
  11. I will Michael Barrett anyone who doesn't give him a full standing O
  12. QUOTE(LowerCaseRepublican @ May 20, 2006 -> 11:57 AM) I see your Konerko and I raise you a 'Carl Crawford on his knees.' to add a little mystery to the race. Make him go backwards, and it's a race.
  13. Tyler Colvin type="application/x-shockwave-flash" pluginspage="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer"> I just realized Matt LaPorta wasn't on that mock... He was ineligible last year, as just a sophmore, but he would have been off the board before we got Broadway. Hard to believe he won't be a first rounder this year.
  14. I know some of you guys love these stories... Woman, 44, Nabbed For Sex With Boy, 13
  15. 7IP 2H 0ER 2BB 9K -- ERA down to 2.53 He's had 8 great starts, and one poor one where he gave up 4 bombs.
  16. Wasn't your name SoxFan420 about 16 hours ago?
  17. QUOTE(fathom @ May 18, 2006 -> 06:56 PM) That's the Widge for you. Actually it's Coop. Coop is drilling Vazquez to keep the ball down in order to limit the HR. In general, that's a good plan, but obviously in this case, it played right into the strength of Branyan.
  18. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ May 18, 2006 -> 05:29 PM) get game previews, stats, etc., the stuff they send around to reporters and color guys. Which is also available if you sign up for the completely free White Sox Wire service.
  19. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ May 18, 2006 -> 05:34 PM) Nah, Alex was just too lazy to use the new banner on his new skin. I'll go change it cause the Dye banner is absolutely beautiful. I'm blaming you if the Sox lose.
  20. QUOTE(DePloderer @ May 18, 2006 -> 05:27 PM) Can anyone tell me how to design a skin? And where's the Die banner gone? I suspect the Dye banner disappeared because it worked so damn well last night. JD had a huge game while being featured as the Soxtalk banner. Tonight Vazquez is on the mound, and the Powers That Be have decided to give him a little extra mojo.
