  1. Shaw should be DFA'd, he has absolutely nothing this year. His FIP is over 10 at this point, ERA at 14.54.
  2. I can't see the Sox winning a game this series, the Lucas start the likely best chance to win a game before traveling to Minnesota. The Sox will face Quintana on Wednesday for his first appearance of the year.
  3. Wonder why Lucas isn't listed as a starter in New York as of now. Are they looking to skip him a turn?
  4. Nice getting out of that jam. Great outing, now take him out so he can start in 5 days.
  5. I hope Oakland sweeps Minnesota, Texas wins their series.
  6. is someone warming up? Touki has over 80 pitches, Len is working alone and hasn't mentioned anyone warming up. Edit: As if on cue, Len just said there is action in the bullpen (Brian Shaw). Should have gotten someone going when they were hitting, as his season high is 85 pitches, which he is now past.
  7. Perhaps we are all dead, living in hell and doomed to watch this organization for eternity.
  8. If the Sox lose tonight and win every single game through July 30, they are still four games under .500 at the deadline.
  9. Second GIDP for Grandal. Wonder if he'll finish with an OPS over .600. Wonder if Hahn will give him 2 years $30M this offseason.
  10. Jim Foster was the source of this abuse. Half his staff and team left after a single season. Players weren't open to disclosing injuries or work with trainers for fear of retaliation. A player died under his watch at his previous school which paid over $1M settlement. It's all in the articles written this week.
  11. God only knows how the Sox worked Kopech the last few weeks. Should get some work in before his next start to lock down command, give him Zavala for the love of God so he can throw pitches with confidence they will be blocked/caught if he misses.
  12. Atlanta has seven hitters with 14 + HRs YTD. The Sox have two Robert Jr. (26) and Burger (19). https://www.baseball-reference.com/teams/ATL/2023.shtml 12 Vaughn and Eloy 8 Sheets 6 Zavala and Grandal 3 Moncada, Gonzalez, Alberto 2 Andrus 1 Benintendi, Colas, Sosa 0 Anderson, Frazier, Hamilton, Haseley, Marsinick, Perez, Remillard, Rodriguez. 103 Total (Atlanta 169)
  13. 4.54 FIP going into today, over 4.60 after his page is refreshed overnight. https://www.baseball-reference.com/players/k/kopecmi01.shtml
  14. Atlanta has more walks in the first inning than the Sox will have all weekend (5).
  15. I posted July stats, not past 28 or 30 days. White Sox July OPS through the All Start Break (minimum 5 plate appearances) .627 Zavala .437 Grandal Grandal should catch Lynn and one of the bullpen games for trade purposes, and if he's still here August 2nd DFA his ass and let Zavala and either Perez or an adequate defensive minded catcher finish this season.
  16. He has never been good beyond a few games here and there as a starter. His 69 good innings out of the bullpen in 2021 is really all they have. A legitimate GM would likely either deal Kopech and Crochet or just be resigned to their fate of hoping to get 60-70 quality innings out of the bullpen. It appears that is the extent their body can take, not sure Crochet can take that much.
  17. As bad as Kopech is, what the f*** is Grandal catching him? He Zavala is crushing him this month at the plate and behind it. Showcase him DHing the next two weeks and catching Lynn so he looks like he can catch, since he can still somewhat handle fastballs.
  18. Make Kopech eat 90 pitches, he needs to learn how to suck it up or have him develop a pitching program at Charlotte over the next season or two with Crochet. This is now six years of this bullshit outside of 2021 pitching out of the bullpen. Kopech FIP 2018 6.16 2021 2.97 2022 4.49 2023 5.58 before tonight
  19. White Sox July OPS through the All Start Break (minimum 5 plate appearances) .896 Robert Jr. .860 Eloy .855 Burger .733 Andrus .713 Remillard .627 Zavala .516 Benintendi .500 Colas .473 Anderson .437 Grandal .381 Vaughn .322 Sheets
  20. I hope they go 8-62 the rest of the way so Hahn finishes this season with more loses during his tenure than Kenny Williams.
  21. Let's face it, everyone beyond Luis Robert are not quality MLB starters. They either can't hit, can't field, or can't hit or field.
  22. Northwestern fired their second scumbag coach this week. https://www.mlive.com/sports/2023/07/northwestern-fires-baseball-coach-jim-foster-amid-bullying-allegations.html
  23. That Grand Slam in Oakland that was reversed on appeal could have been a game changer. Hopefully he will have a similar moment over the next week to get confidence and back on track. A bucket load of singles and doubles would work as well.
