  1. Eugene Freedman is a solid follow for those looking to follow the negotiations and players perspective. Ha Ha =- Eugene calls out Chicago Media Hack Jesse Rogers, employed by the White Sox Flagship.
  2. Who is going to play 2B when Madrigal inevitably goes down for another half season as is his MO? Sox already have to have a fill in for the inevitable Eloy injury, though hopefully not in March this year.
  3. Well, I don’t think Chuck Garfield floated Andrew Vaughn at 2B without someone in the organization discussing it. Still hope they can either dump Kimbrel for Segura or sign someone who can at least field decently at 2B. I think there is a far greater possibility they sign Schwarber or Pederson than Conforto. This lineup would be very good. 4. It's not just an announcement, players typically have a physical, so all of that will be on hold until the CBA is signed. It will take a few days after a new CBA is signed to sort everything out and announce, and then another few days for players to take their physicals before reporting to their new team. Also of note, MLB has strict lease terms with the AZ and FL governments who built their spring training complexes that a full Spring Training must be conducted, meaning it is likely if a new CBA is not in place by late February, the start to the season may be delayed and games may be either postponed or rescheduled.
  5. He's trying his best to be worse than Bud Selig, who presided over a cancelled World Series.

  7. I hear you. Said it sort of made sense if they planned on moving Kopech to a starting role. Just think Kimbrel was gassed at that point, should be OK this year. That said, Pilkington wasn't a big loss whereas the Sox could have used Heuer last or this/future years, and flipped Madrigal for something else.
  8. What? It wasn't even the worst trade Hahn made that week. 07/29/21 Cleveland Indians traded 2B Cesar Hernandez to Chicago White Sox for LHP Konnor Pilkington. 07/30/21 Chicago Cubs traded RHP Craig Kimbrel to Chicago White Sox for 2B Nick Madrigal and RHP Codi Heuer.
  9. I bought that once, the grease they fried it smelled more rancid than Jake Lamb starting in right field. Had to toss it, no longer buy jewel meat.
  10. The Sox need legitimate depth to grind out a season, rest starters, and be prepared in October. They need better players than Jake Lamb or Brian Goodwin in reserve roles. If they acquire a legitimate 2B, and Leury served as a reserve player, the Sox are in better position than they have been the past few years with injury/error prone Nick Madrigal.
  11. Engel really improved as well over the past two seasons. Hope he can stay healthy next year.
  12. Can pretty much guarantee Leury is the Opening Day Shortstop for the Chicago White Sox. His legend will grow. (Tim has to serve a 2-3 game suspension for bumping the umpire the final week).
  13. I'm still skeptical the Sox will splurge and get their payroll in the $200M range, but you can't judge the offseason until it's over. Most expected Leury back. Not sure why we need a third year, but he built up a lot of goodwill with this organization and I rather them take care of one of their own. Feel good about the fact he is viewed as utility, which is his strongest role / strength (versatility). You figured he would get in the $4M-$5M range, I guess we will now soon the final terms. It's not as though an extra million or two is going to put someone else out of the running.
  14. I like him as an utility man playing 80-100 a year, mostly in the infield. If he is their starting 2B, than Fuck You.
  15. Ray was my top choice in my "offseason plan", Matz would have been my second choice, upping his deal another $1M-$2M per year to snag him. Gomes was the Bronze medal winner, unless they could get Contreras in a trade (or would serve as Contreras back up by trading Grandal for Gallo). As long as Tony is alive, Leury is a White Sox.
  16. Buster reported it, at $160M-$170M, but didn't state the years. I'd assume $160-$170M for seven (vs. $140M for 6), a similar AAV, for Buster to make that statement.
  17. Buster reported it was the same extension offered by the Cubs. This deal is smarter than Correa will will get at least $30M AAV, gives the Tigers more flexibility to keep or add other pieces. Plus Correa's back issues make a LT deal with him a bit scary for the likely several years he'll command.
  18. Yep, first Ray and now Gomes off my two offseason targets lists.
  19. My post was for the utility role. I do believe the Sox will at minimum pick up Josh Harrison, or in the words of Bob Nightengale, a player "like" Josh Harrsion, perhaps get Segura for Kimbrel.
  20. Sad that the only party concerned with the integrity of the game is the MLBPA. There should be zero Pirate season ticket holders, not even a 10 game plan. Projected payroll is $32.58M after they dumped Stallings $3M salary yesterday.
  21. Hopefully the Sox can outbid Detroit and Pittsburgh for Leury’s services. Otherwise it’s Yolmer / Mendick time.
