Pretty sure this was an emergency only situation, with the Sox literally out of all other options except for Yermin, Sheets or Goodwin. Burger will help fill in / cover 3B starting tomorrow. I just hope the Sox don’t rush him back prematurely. Guys continue to come back off the DL partially healed (Engel, Hamilton), would rather test the minimize league depth than prolong a players injuries. Yoan needs to stay out until he can field and hit with his injured hand.

You stated Goodwin is a better fielder because of his sprint speed. My response was there is more to defense than speed, including routes, throwing, judgement. Goodwin has been God Awful, and his career stats fielding stats bare that out. It’s why a “turtle” has better fielding stats than the hare, the two primary defensive statistics available. Goodwin’s stats are for his whole career, and he is a below average LF as well as CF, because he does a lot of bad out there (at least four bad plays today alone). The discussion can end at this point, as there is nothing more to be said, at least in my end. I hope Goodwin can at least hit during his remaining days on the team. Tony can swap in Hamilton for defense in close games with Leury unavailable due to Madrigal’s absence.

They keep calling people up who aren't healthy. They should have brought up Burger, if Hamilton is not healthy enough play at least a bare minimum, hitting or fielding.

Goodwin is not a major league capable outfielder, at CF or LF.
