Hoping he plays regular now, relegate Garcia to OF. Regular at bats for Mendick will help his timing. We already know Garcia is no longer a capable ML hitter.

DJ said he read that play poorly. Didn’t like the GIDP either.

Good news in terms of load management. Me likey. Should be a 2-3 times/month consideration.

Must have seen Tim's stash of pine tar, sharpened catcher shin protectors and the spider tack Tim keeps for his chest protector and mound visits.

Yes, not sure why folks' cubsession worked itself into today's game thread. It's why I opened the game thread during their season best six game winning streak only after the lineup was available, to keep focus on the game at hand. Plenty of other threads for this.

Yes. Lineup as expected, except Garcia and Collins were flipped. Hoping Tony works in a day off for Moncada and Tim this series (Abreu off last week), will likely want to play the core next week vs. the much tougher teams (TB and Houston). With Grandal apparently healthier, can have him spell Abreu at 1B, or Yermin against tough RHPs, when Collins is catching Lucas and Carlos.

Sox @ Tigers, 6/11 6:10 cst
Expecting something like this: T. Anderson SS Y. Mercedes DH Y. Moncada 3B J. Abreu 1B A. Vaughn LF A. Engel CF Z. Collins C (Lucas' guy) L. Garcia RF (Meh) D. Mendick 2B Grandal (Cease) and health permitting Eaton (RF) come back for the RHP tomorrow. Perhaps Lamb spells Moncada for a day of rest as well. Detroit has no listed Sunday starter. Boyd normal turn, but he has been pwned by the Sox the last two years so perhaps they will skip him and try to win on Sunday with a RHP. Sox look for their 30th win in 34 starts against LH Starters since 2020.

"sticky substances"
Solid piece in The Athletic, covering pitchers with the highest increase in 4 seem fastball spin rate, 2019 vs. 2021. The top 6 have seen a 6%+ increase, more suspect than the next tier. https://theathletic.com/2645556/2021/06/11/suspect-spin-rates-trevor-bauer-heads-group-of-pitchers-that-have-made-improbable-rpm-gains-in-2021/ Trevor Bauer 17.1% Tyler Mahle 13.9% Walker Buehler 6.9% Dylan Cease 6.6% Tyler Glasnow 6.4% Joe Musgrove 6.3% Lucas Giolito 4.0% Tyler Anderson 3.3% Clayton Kershaw 2.5% John Means 2.1% Cues Squeeze's Cool for Katz.

Madrigal goes on 60 day DL, Hamstring tear: Goodwin recalled
You don't want to lose anyone, but of the three starters Madrigal has by far the least impact in terms of his production vs. his replacement, as compared to by far the worst possible Sox injury (Robert vs. what his ahem "replacements" offer). Eloy's bat is very valuable, and Sox fans were fortunate Mercedes had a great April as well as Vaughn's great play on both sides of the ball, but more surprisingly in the field. With today's game, with a majority of outs ending in a K, the Sox have been able to regularly play infielders in the outfield (Lamb and Mendick in addition to Vaughan). Can't do that at 2B, but Mendick and Garcia can cover the position well enough defensively. The key to the postseason will be the ability for Robert and Eloy to rehab and return before the AAA season ends. Madrigal's initial timeline gives a good possibility he may return as long as surgery is not required.

And That's a White Sox Winner !!
Sox are now 29-4 vs. LHP, 44-45 vs. RHP and 43-23 at Home, 30-26 on the Road since 2020. Smart playoff teams (thinking Tampa in the AL) with a LHS will use an RH Opener, especially in Chicago, see if Tony overcommits to the platoon split.

Sox hitters need to focus, take what they give you. Nice seeing Jose going to RF, and Grandal swinging aggressively in the five hole.

Trade Targets in response to Madrigal’s injury
Jerry doesn’t give a rats ass about fans, their opinion, or the FO’s opinions or judgement. Otherwise, Tony would be in his wine cave and not screaming at Sox players to not hit HRs. Dont care about you or your opinion, only respond to correct your weak, tired and inaccurate quotes.

Trade Targets in response to Madrigal’s injury
Did I say FO? No. Perhaps consider reading posts before trolling. Jerry’s huge trade deadline expenditure, 30 days at minimum salary. Probably wanted Ricky to fail at that point, since he knew he was bringing in his BFF Tony.

Madrigal goes on 60 day DL, Hamstring tear: Goodwin recalled
And Tim and Jose are typically only off when they are injured. I understand it’s Tony’s “job” to “win everyday”, but it’s Hahn’s job to instruct La Russa in terms of managing for the long term, losing certain battles to “win the war”. Not sure if Hahn has the same input regarding the lineup as he had with Ricky. Not assigning blame for any of these injuries to Tony, just saying this is hopefully there is a healthy working relationship between the two. I believe Tony / FO has managed the pitching staff well, and also juggling the hitters / lineup well. That said, it would be ideal for Tim, Jose and Yoan to be off, ON DIFFERENT DAYS, at least twice a month to keep them fresh. I know Jose is adamantly against even an inning off, but you need to explain the importance of having periodic days off, for the good of the player and team.

David Eckstein is 46. It’s possible he still has something left in the tank. Otherwise, Leury Uber Alles! Cues The Dead Kennedys.
