Hamilton is a much better CFer, and any perceived hitting advantage Garcia may have had is not happening this season. Leury has started more games in the infield / OF corners (10 + 13), vs. 17 in CF. He’s also been inserted as a pinch hitter for real ML hitters, which is completely asinine, since he is literally the worst hitter on the team. Tony is obsessed with playing this guy everyday, when he should have been limited to rotating with Hamilton in CF only for the 30 games Robert has missed, and maybe a start a week spelling people for a rest. Instead, Tony made him an everyday player, over better options, both before and after Robert’s injury.

Who are the White Sox Rivals?
Yes, it was the Crosstown Classic, with proceeds going to charity (not Jerry and the Tribune). They stopped sometime in the late 1980s a few years before interleague. I worked a few as Andy Frain usher, including one disturbing incident at Wrigley. A woman and her young (9-10 years old?) daughter were standing behind the first base dugout and they respectfully asked Ozzie's autograph as he approached during pre-game activities. Ozzie took the chewing tobacco out of his mouth and threw it at them, soling the girls clothes. Never liked him afterward.

Don't forget Cease who laid an egg against weak hitting Cleveland. Reasonable expectations for Keuchel's 4 year deal were 25-30 Starts / 160 IP / 4.00 ERA. White Sox Starters, last two outings Lynn 12 IP 0 ER (0.00 ERA) Giolito 13 IP 2 ER (1.38 ERA) Rodon 12 IP 6 ER (4.50 ERA) Keuchel 9 IP 5 ER (5.00 ERA) Cease 9.3 IP 7 ER (6.77 ERA)

Benetti to call Olympic baseball
No, just leaving radio once again to fill in for Jason once again on TV for Jason’s olympics. If radio was Len’s long term priority, another broadcaster would fill in for Jason / Steve on their off days. This was all agreed to as part of the hiring process, and discussed publicly in terms of Len’s work across both mediums, and not surprising. Just like to keep him on radio, at least for a few seasons, before he takes over permanently for Stone or Benetti. Radio has been a revolving chair, with Andy Masur taking over for Farmer for the 60 game season last year, and now Len bouncing in and out of the booth this season to fill in for both over at least a dozen games.

He doesn’t wear gold chains, so he’ll get a pass, at least for a few weeks. Most here don’t value defense compared to offense, especially up the middle, compared to offense. If he plays a majority of games in CF, shifting to RF (not left) for Hamilton starts, he will be a great addition, regardless of how he hits. Adam showed much improvement last year hitting, and is an upgrade over 30 year old Leury Garcia in all aspects of the game.

Not good losing Len Kasper on the radio side, though Conor McKnight has been a solid fill-in. Wondering if Len’s radio stint will last as long as Steve Stone’s (a single season) before transitioning to TV full time.

Steve Stone / Yoan Moncada's "Lack of Effort and Interest"
Carlos Febles (Red Sox Third Base Coach) “But when you see a guy like that, and something that people don’t know is he works hard. He goes out and he would do everything you asked him to do. That makes you feel that he’s definitely going to get it. A lot of guys are talented, but they don’t push themselves to the limit. And he does.” Steve Stone Opinions are just that. Facts are facts. Tell him what you want and if he doesn’t like it tell him to hustle everyday and we’ll have no problem.

Jose Abreu - BAD in high leverage situations
Agree, Tim also is in the same conversation as Abreu in terms of current fandom and post career Mr. White Sox possibilities. Really hope the Sox can keep Tim for his entire career.

2021 MLB Catch-all Thread
Personally don't believe Brenly should continue as a ML Announcer. The story also contains a link to Stroman's twitter feed, with the tweet below and another you can click in the article where someone responded twice to Stroman's message below calling Stroman the n word twice. Stroman stated he gets messages like this more often than people can comprehend, and implores young athletes who encounter this to never let outside hate sway your internal mentality, and to Rise Above! I'm interested in how his former partner Len Kasper will broach this during the next White Sox radio broadcast. In an unrelated note, looking for a twitter comment by Len regarding Brenly's comments, I came across notification Len and Jason will have Rick Hahn on an upcoming new podcast.

Jose Abreu - BAD in high leverage situations
Ernie and Minnie are "Mister Cub/White Sox" for their play on the field, their class handling breaking the color barrier here, and decades as serving as beloved ambassadors for the game and for their respective teams until the day they died. That said, I believe Jose Abreu and his counterpart Anthony Rizzo can serve as the next few generations of "Mr. White Sox / Cub" depending on their post on-field careers, and whether they remain in Chicago. At minimum, both are outstanding representatives and leaders for their teams on and off the field. There is no rational reason to hate either, even if you're not a fan of their respective teams, or even of baseball.

Classy moves by Carlos Rodon and Jerry Reinsdorf
https://theathletic.com/2606689/2021/05/23/white-sox-notes-billy-hamilton-and-tim-anderson-zack-collins-and-carlos-rodon-dylan-cease-has-growing-left-to-do/?source=emp_shared_article&redirected=1 Excellent article, as always, by James Fegan today related to the post no hitter gifts given by Carlos Rodon, Jerry Reinsdorf and artist Cody Sabol (commemorative paintings for the two players). Jerry to Carlos and Zach: Nice rings commemorating the no hitter. Rodon to Zach: Engraved commemorative watch and putter. Rodon to the entire team: Special Johnnie Walker Blue Bottles engraved with the No Hitter Date. Perhaps the biggest gift Carlos handed out were his well earned compliments of Zach Collins.

Scary play with a collision between Pham and Kim today. Cub haters here will appreciate the fact the dropped ball ended up resulting in a double play, as the runners on 1st and 2nd stayed on their bases, resulting in a 6-5-4 DP while players watched the injured players. https://www.mlb.com/cubs/video/kim-pham-collide-on-popup?q=TeamId%20%3D%3D%20%5B135%5D%20Order%20By%20Timestamp%20DESC&cp=CMS_FIRST&p=0
