  1. If the O’s seriously balked at that price then, they aren’t the trade partner for the Sox. 2.5 full seasons of Dylan Cease for that and they passed, cmon man. Let the free agents sign, once they start signing the more teams will be interested in trading prospects for starting pitching. Make Baltimore get desperate if they really want Cease. Again the Sox hold all the cards
  2. “In that case it’s not gonna be any top 10 prospects”
  3. Kjerstad it is then, start the write up on your forum and let’s all get everyone on board
  4. Could we be overvaluaing Dylan Cease, sure 100% but the Sox hold all the cards here, it’s not like he is making $30 mil next year and are trying to dump salary, I guarantee you most if not all teams would happily slot in a dude for the next 2 years, making a measly $10 mil max, has made 30+ starts each of the last 3 seasons, with Cy Young potential for prospects. It’s about finding a deal that makes sense for Chris Getz, if it’s not out there then so be it, last thing he’s gonna do though is settle for a lackluster return (Cowser & Ortiz)
  5. So then if you’re Chris Getz, essentially everyone is off the table as a headliner outside of a dude who came up and stunk in his first taste and the wonderful Jim Callis isn’t a fan of, what would you do? If Elias isn’t willing to play ball then again there really isn’t a deal to be had with the O’s
  6. Their fanbase wouldn’t be as open to trading him of course. He struggled so let’s give him up instead of Kjerstad who looked more competent or Mayo who is raking in the minors
  7. I know it was 60 ABs but Cowser stunk last year in the bigs, if you’re trading a Dylan Cease and you’re seeking pitching back, your main return can’t be a positional player coming off a terrible first major league stint. We all saw what other major league GMs saw. Sox can get better than him. This isn’t me saying Cowser won’t be good but too much risk giving up a proven major league top of the rotation arm for Cowser
  8. If Elias isn’t is willing to give up more than Cowser(MAYBE) or Ortiz as the headliners than there really is no business to be discussed here
  9. It’s even more foolish to trade him and not get the value that a frontline arm with 2 years left on his deal should command. Kjerstad, Ortiz (neither of whom had any hand in a 101 win season last year) and an arm of your choosing is fair value for a TOR arm. Trading a 26 year old MVP candidate with 4 years left of control is incredibly foolish.
  10. Why? Sox have the leverage, they don’t HAVE to trade Cease, and it sounds like they prefer pitching prospects over positional prospects, O’s don’t meet that criteria as much as others do. If Mayo or Kjerstad aren’t in the deal then I’m moving on, not worth it then.
  11. Ortiz doesn’t move the needle as much as a Kjerstad or Mayo would though. He’d be a really fine 2nd piece but not the main piece in a Cease deal
  12. I just don’t see the Sox taking this deal, they value Cease much higher, rightfully so. If Mayo/Kjerstad aren’t the headliner then there’s really no reason to budge from the Sox side
  13. Im fine with waiting it out 100% if it results in Mayo or Kjerstad as the headliner, just don’t see a reason for the Sox to settle for anything less than one of those two as the headliners. A trade for a top of the rotation arm for 2 fulls seasons is supposed to hurt, moving Cowser/Ortiz/Norby doesn’t hurt enough
  14. If BAL said “no” to this then move on, they aren’t serious about acquiring a front of the rotation arm. Their message boards are saying this type of deal could land a Logan Gilbert, they’re just as looney as we are.
  15. Kjerstad/Mayo+Ortiz/Westburg+any pitcher they don’t want is the least I’d accept from the O’s. If they or their forum don’t like it then trade him to someone else who gets desperate either now or at the deadline or hell hold onto him for 2 years. No reason to settle on Cease when we know he’s closer to the 2022 version than last year’s. Opening day game against the Astros is who Cease is during big time performances, that’s what teams are going to have to pay for, not some early 98 degree August game against the Royals when nobody wants to be there
  16. If that’s the case then the Braves being favorites make all the sense in the world. I personally hate the idea, they desperately need offense in the system on top of pitching of course but idk about you guys, I’m tired of watching Sheets, Romy , Colas, Remillard, Lenyn, or anybody not named Robert for that matter get any amount of ABs.. I’d like to think this is simply a negotiation tactic to have teams with lesser pitching up their offers
  17. Yankees, Orioles, Red Sox, Reds, Cubs, Giants, Angels, Rangers, Padres, Mets, Braves, Phillies, Jays, Cards, Rockies could get weird, and hell why would you count out the Dodgers. Whatever the O’s and Reds were offering before I sure as hell hope for their sakes they’re ready to play ball now
  18. Yankees, Orioles, Red Sox bidding war for Cease
  19. We’re all sweating this out, refreshing X, searching far and wide for any sort of rumors on Cease or any other player but we all know it’s gonna be radio silence until we get a notification from the White Sox X/Twitter account directly breaking the news that they’ve traded Dylan Cease.
  20. Dylan Cease, Corbin Burnes, Shane Bieber, Tyler Glasnow, Blake Snell, Yoshinobu Yamamoto, Jordan Montgomery Angels, Braves, Cards, Cubs, Dodgers, Giants, Mets, Nationals, Orioles, Padres, Reds, Red Sox, Rockies, and Yankees all need pitching to varying degrees, if Chris Getz fumbles this…
  21. Both sides would have to agree to a floor and a cap and they never will
  22. I think the Dodgers are gonna be the favorites at this point and if the Yankees miss out on Yamamoto ?? I truly hope Mike Elias feels that pressure to pay the asking price if not more
  23. A potential Cease suitor down if this happens, cool with it though, wasn’t high on the DBacks potential offers unless it included Jordan Lawler which he never was. Figure to be in on Cease: Orioles, Dodgers, Reds, Red Sox, Braves, Padres, Giants, Mets, Cards, Rangers, Yankees, DBacks
