  1. Conforto is a better defender than Castellanos but it’s not by a huge margin from what Mets fans have said. Give me the dude who hits over the defense in RF.
  2. Jerry is definitely not spending $40 mil per on a 37 year old pitcher.
  3. Sox need to move on from Rodon, his shoulder is probably a mess, them not giving him the QO after the year he had is very telling IMO. Stroman won’t come to the Sox unless they give him the most money which they won’t. Thinking it’s gonna be Sonny Gray, Sean Manaea, or Chris Bassit as the most likely bets. They probably prefer Montas-Castillo but don’t want to give up Vaughn which at least for Luis Castillo I’d do it in a heartbeat
  4. Would probably make Crochett available I’d think, then could Vaughn + Crochett headline a deal for Bryan Reynolds. Maybe then go all in for Scherzer
  5. 1B is a position that can be replaced probably easier than most positions, if Vaughn is the cost for guys like Castillo, Ketel Marte, Bryan Reynolds, Flaherty (not saying he’s available) you do it. Why you’d even think twice about it is beyond me. Vaughn may end up being a valuable hitter but this team is in contention right now and any of the names mentioned above make this team much better than what Vaughn can contribute right now.
  6. Bryan Reynolds would be fantastic but would probably require more than what Hahn is realistically willing to give up. OFers within reason I think: Winker and Meadows But they should just sign Marte, Castellanos, or I guess Conforto. I’d rather they go the trade route for a 2B (Ketel Marte would be PERFECT, Cronenworth, Jeff McNeil, Brandon Lowe, Whit Merrifield or if not a 2B then trade for a SP1 (Castillo)
  7. The issue wasn’t only the pitching though it was the offense, outside of 1 inning that series they were struggling to do much of anything. I really believe the team does need a shakeup because as others have mentioned too this team is way too redundant. Get a big bat who can carry an offense when it slumps because it really feels like with the current lineup when 1 guy slumps the whole lineup slumps.
  8. Astros will find a way to keep Correa too, this is pretty frustrating, know it’s super early in the offseason but Sox need to make a big move on offense (not named Conforto) and in the rotation
  9. I hope they get Correa, the Sox need some competition in the division
  10. Think it would cost less, Reds are selling off everything with $$ attached. Thinking younger prospects with more control
  11. Which should 1000% be on the table if they’re not going to spend money on fixing 2B or SP
  12. I’m all for either Marte/Castellanos RF and an Adam Frazier/Ketel Marte/Semien 2B. I know who the owner is but that’s who they should be going after cuz it’s not my money
  13. What if they sign a right handed RF who hits both righties and lefties well
  14. Castellanos, Simien, trade Vaughn++ for Freddy Peralta/Luis Castillo
  15. Im looking at Conforto’s defensive metrics and at least from a DWar standpoint doesn’t look that much different from Castellanos’ defense. Idk I’m sticking with having the best players on this team that’s in contention for a title, I think Castellanos would make this lineup very tough to deal with. Yes defense is an issue but again I really think 1 if not 2 of Eloy/Sheets/Vaughn/Abreu can be dealt to fix those defensive holes the Sox have.
  16. But IMO he’s a better hitter than anybody else on this roster, isn’t that what we want? As much as we want to say defense/pitching was an issue, the offense was just as shitty in the postseason… So why not add Castellanos who can hit RIGHT NOW, during a championship window. I get the DH/corner overload but he’s a better hitter than any of the DH/corner OF types they have and then allows you to shop Sheets/Vaughn/Eloy/Abreu to fill other holes. We can agree to disagree but Castellanos hit both LHP & RHP very well, regardless of handiness the dude just hits and brings an attitude something this team lacks. For a team who offense looked so inconsistent all season I’m surprised people want to pass up on his bat.
  17. Are they not fits because of their defense? Because at least you might be able to say Castellanos might be a better hitter than anyone currently on the Sox.
  18. Is that a bad thing though? To cover other needs like a SP1/2 or 2B maybe a Brandon Lowe or shooting for the moon here Jose Ramirez? Feel like Castellanos bat brings consistency and power something the Sox lacked this year regardless of injuries and brings an attitude too something this team really does lack IMO. I don’t know about you guys but I feel like I’d be able to put up with Castellanos defense for a .300 30 HRs 100RBI hitter who hits both LHP & RHP well that’s why I don’t understand the lack of love for him when this team looked so streaky.
  19. But wasn’t Conforto pretty bad last year?
  20. Is the only reason nobody wants Castellanos because of his defense? I’m trying to wrap my head around this? He’s been one of the most consistent hitters the last 3 years, isn’t that what the Sox need? I understand the defensive issues but this would allow them to put Vaughn, Eloy, and or Sheets on the block to see if they can improve other areas.
  21. Other than TA, Giolito, Robert, and Hendriks everyone should be available in trade talks
  22. Would be cool if the Sox can turn that switch on soon…
  23. Exactly this, I don’t understand why everyone thinks there is this switch that can be turned on and off by a team whose core has 3 games worth of playoff experience. Trying to do my best to stay away from the ledge but these types of losses against contenders (whether the Blue Jays make the playoffs or not) is still concerning.
  24. I get that this game is just another game of a long season but shit I don’t know why everyone thinks they’re just gonna be able to turn it up a notch come playoff time. This team on talent alone should be able to win these games: Abreu, Robert, Eloy, Moncada, Vaughn 5 core players should be able to carry this offense at least that’s what we have been led to believe.
