There was no Acuna, Pérez or Romo in the lineup today.

We need to go with our better players even if they are lefty vs lefty. They can’t be worse than Perez and Romo.

I think Tony Romo would do better than our Romo.

They are two outs dressed as baseball,players. Hitting them back to back is even more brutal. We dodged a bullet with them in a 1-0 win.

Junior Perez and Romo hitting back to back is brutal. It’s like playing the game with 7 players. At least, Acuna is coming around.

Sox did acquire Thome today with the 34 th pick acquired.

At least the Sox got Thome’s son with the pick from the Gonzo trade. Regardless, Gonzo was a #1 pick and was coming around….

It would help if the line up today did not include Junior Pérez hitting fifth, and Acuna and Romo anchoring the bottom of the lineup.

Venable needs better lineup construction. Also needs to up his energy level and kick some butt when needed. He looks too low energy and stoic in the dugout. He does not look like a capable manager for a team in contention. IMO.

It helped that Jose Ramirez is out and Naylor was traded, both Sox killers in the past.

Sox pitching need to cut down on the gopher balls, particularly with men on base. Also we need a reliable, consistent closer. We would have swept the Guardians with a reliable closer. The D was nothing to write home about today. With Mune back , we should be able to increase run production to minimize high leverage closing situations. IMO.

Sox first inning defense was the worst of the season. Looked like the Keystone Cops on the field.

And both in walk off fashion. Need to beef up the bullpen ASAP. It’s our Achilles heel today. Offense is not our problem. Relief pitching is. With Mune or without him, we still have a problem with the pitching side. Need to start planning for deals at the trade deadline.

ESPN has the Sox playoff odds now at 65.6% up from 20.9% in May, the largest odds increase of any team. Conversely, it had the Guardians playoff odds in May at 88.7% and now at 72.4%. Sox trending in the right direction. I would venture to say Sox should be favorites to win the Central, and make the playoffs. You can put it on the board. Yes!

Maybe he should have been given the take sign on 3-1, as he has a tendency to swing at balls out of the zone.

Rather take my closer chances with Taylor than with Seranthony
