  1. I think u guys take this all too seriously. I think what Oz said was funny and I hope it was a shot at his current players who have not been in a pennant race all year. You had to laugh AGAIN tonight in the 8th. Bases loaded nobody out and nothing. Not one insurance run. Joke of a team. Oz will be loving Florida next year. He won't have to watch Rios and Dunn (I realize Dunn mercifully didn't play tonight). BTW, our record is pretty damn good of late when Dunn sits isn't it?
  2. QUOTE (TaylorStSox @ Aug 27, 2011 -> 06:45 AM) I wouldn't even bet that he can make enough contact to get a ball out of the IF. It's one thing to be like Rios, make contact and not be able to drive the ball. It's another to be like Dunn and miss the ball by a foot on 75% of your swings. I've never seen anything like it, in any sport. It's the equivalent of Reggie Miller airballing half of his 3's. It's insane. Yeah but the offseason magically will turn him around and we're going to have to hear about how great he's going to be next season.
  3. LOL. Ichiro no problem rapping a hit off our lefty. One on nobody out. He prolly should bring in Sergio now.
  4. We actually deserve to lose after that ninth inning faceplant.
  5. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 27, 2011 -> 04:44 AM) Lillibridge is just awesome right now. Very short, compact swing. He's a power hitter. Not a knock on him. It's amazing but the little Elf is a true power hitter. His whole approach. And he's actually a better one than Dunn which is hilarious.
  6. LOL. Bases loaded nobody out and they can't score. As Hawk said ... again.
  7. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Aug 26, 2011 -> 04:56 PM) The Sox just have to weather the Peavy/Rios/Dunn contract storm as best they can. And they should do so with no fans in the stands. That's a hurricane to weather.
  8. QUOTE (jwmann2 @ Aug 26, 2011 -> 04:38 AM) I say put Dunn and Thome at the 3 and 4 holes in the batting lineup and tell them to start swinging recklessly. Couldn't hurt either. Might wake Dunn up. I think Dunn swings recklessly enough. He has what, 160 Ks? If he swung hard at every single pitch then he would never walk, which is the only way he ever gets on base. Can you imagine if he didn't at least have a decent eye at the plate? His strikeout totals would be earthquake enducing.
  9. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Aug 26, 2011 -> 04:02 AM) Naturally, Chicago is a great representation of what happens when a father passes a team off to his son because after Bill Wirtz passed on, the Blackhawks continued to be a terrible team. Thank God we took care of business in the 05 World Series and didn't lose those close games to Houston. I am seriously thinking it's gonna be a long, long time before we are sniffing the WS again. It would take some creative managing of the current roster and adding free agents cause our minor league system is the dregs. And yes I realize Peavy, Dunn and Rios pretty much killed any chance of adding decent (on paper) free agents.
  10. Why do the Indians want Thome? Are they in the race? I'm thinking Sox and Tribe have pretty much been eliminated. Cleveland was eliminated by losing all 3 to Detroit last week. We were eliminated ... well you know when we were eliminated. What is Cleveland doing? Also, haven't Cleveland fans treated him really s***ty since he left town? This is going to be all time hypocritical again when he gets a standing ovation vs. the Royals. I mean I know fans are puppets, but it seems pretty s***ty of management to show what buffoons Cleveland fans are. Now these fans, who booed him since he returned to the AL, now will cheer him madly cause he's wearing a Cleveland uniform? Nonsensical and makes the Tribe fans look very bad.
  11. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Aug 26, 2011 -> 02:38 AM) Dan Uggla's slashline on July 4th: .173/.241/.327/.568 Dan Uggla's slashline since July 4th: .341/.411/.707/1.117 That's all we needed from Done. Just a sustained stretch of dominance. He's the biggest failure in White Sox history. The problem is we have to keep thinking about him for 3 more seasons cause until the contract runs out, there's always the chance he reverts to the old Dunn and some diehards will insist he's going to get it back. Hopefully our fans won't bite this winter when we hear all the glowing reports of Dunn getting in shape; Dunn hitting off a tee; Dunn improving. I would hope they won't buy season tickets until Dunn is removed from the roster. How can you pay thousands to watch that guy?? Just seeing him whiff and hit into DPs would have to ruin an otherwise enjoyable ballpark experience. I hate Rios as well, but at least Rios is still hitting over .200. Dunn is an F. Rios' grade is D to D-.
  12. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Aug 26, 2011 -> 03:00 AM) Yes, he's probably going up scared or trying his hardest to not strike out...and that puts pressure on him and he can't just play baseball like it naturally came to him. So after stinking for an entire season and having the Sox throw this year's 14 million or whatever down the toilet, he'll magically start hitting next year just because it's April 3 of a new baseball season?
  13. QUOTE (Swingandalongonetoleft @ Aug 22, 2011 -> 02:04 PM) Yeah, Alex "awful at baseball and life" Rios. I've wanted Dunn on the White Sox for a long time. Despite his s***ty year, I want him hitting 4th in 2012. 2011 can be succinctly attributed to mental issues. Are you joking? It's not in green. Assuming you are serious, mental issues? WTF?
  14. QUOTE (flavum @ Aug 25, 2011 -> 09:01 PM) 7 out. Tragic Number: 27 QUOTE (oldsox @ Aug 26, 2011 -> 12:24 AM) More talented? Because of Rios and Dunn? Put those two guys on the Tigers and see how well they would do. 1.) It is tragic. s*** season. 2.) I'm glad these 2 stiffs are getting their share of the blame and not just Oz. With Peavy still mediocre, it could be the 3 Salary Stooges next year.
  15. That is the truth. Thank goodness.
  16. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 25, 2011 -> 05:28 PM) Well, at least Merkin's reaching the "Wait til next year" point. That's exactly what I thought. It's going to be a sickening offseason with Sox fans being asked to believe Peavy and Dunn will magically be great again and Rios will work so hard in the offseason.
  17. I would love to see Cubs hire Ozzie. I just want him to stay in Chicago, don't really care which team he's managing at this point.
  18. The Sox definitely need to sit down with Dunn and ask him, 'Seriously Adam, we know we have to pay you, but would you consider retirement if you are not hitting .250 or better in mid May with at least 8 homers by then? I mean a guy with his approach has to hit 30 home runs to be even serviceable. That's five measly home runs a momth. Considering all his Ks and DPs, don't you agree 30 home runs minimum for Dunn or he is pretty much worthless to a club??
  19. Isn't ALvarez showing signs of being a bust? Thornton is a throw in at this point. He's aging and now hittable.
  20. QUOTE (ROC Sox Fan @ Aug 25, 2011 -> 05:31 AM) THIS. WTF. Just because a guy ain't at 100 pitches you don't go to the bullpen? So pissed off right now. We have an off day tomorrow, why don't you go to the bullpen in the 7th with a rookie on the mound? Ugh. I'm a pessimist and I'm ready to be all out. All Out is the only place to be. This team never had a prayer and yet refused to make any significant changes. Even DeAza hasn't played enough until CQ got hurt. Flowers is playing cause AJP and Castro are hurt. No changes. Except for Zach and some hack relievers. I'd think they'd want to announce Oz and KW being gone soon so they can get a manager hired right at the end of the season and get a GM here to start planning his rebuild.
  21. Ozzie has one year left, right? This is about the time last year they asked him about his contract and all hell broke loose. I would think that question has to come up soon. Ozzie seems to be a realist about such matters. Wonder if he'll say something wild like, 'If I was jerry I wouldn't extend me.'
  22. Sox are really getting smoked, 8-0. There really was no rhyme or reason for our good road record. That was kinda crazy when you think about it. It's going to be weird as a fan starting next season. There's really going to be no reason to believe if most of these guys are back. Nobody in the media has given us any hints on Ozzie and Kenny assuredly being gone. You'd have to think that story will leak soon. They both have to be out.
  23. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 25, 2011 -> 05:04 AM) Just for fun, not a good last two days for Kenny Williams: - Hudson dominates and goes 8.2 innings and gives up 2 runs - De Los Santos gets a win - Brandon Allen hits two mammoth homers - Nick Swisher hits two homers - Jason Frasor picks up loss for Sox - Zach Stewart gets bombed by Angels Wow. You have to throw Dunn in there as well. The continuing Dunn suckiness.
  24. QUOTE (zenryan @ Aug 25, 2011 -> 05:03 AM) I know hindsight is 20/20 but was there really a reason to send Stewart out there in the 7th? Probably not, except Ozzie tends to give up on games this year, probably knowing how bad the offense is better than anybody. He probably figured the 4-0 lead was in reality about 10-0. As skipper he prolly shouldn't think that way.
