8/18 Game Thread: Indians @ White Sox, 7:10pm CT
greg775 replied to NorthSideSox72's topic in 2011 Season in Review
QUOTE (Wanne @ Aug 18, 2011 -> 06:05 PM) Potency.... Anytime Dunn is batting fourth you can't like our chances, especially at home. I don't know how anybody could buy season tickets for next year knowing they'd have to watch that guy. If you are a baseball fan, he could ruin your experience single handedly. Ugh I just saw Omar is playing. Sox make it tough to be a fan of this team with this personnel. -
QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Aug 17, 2011 -> 01:28 PM) My extended family is attending the Saturday 8/20 game to celebrate my sister's birthday. We are arriving in several vehicles from various parts of Indiana but would like to park/tailgate together. My question is if there is any way to ensure that we can all park together, aside from having to meet up at some random gas station at some random Dan Ryan exit and then following each other to the parking lots? That's cool you are choosing a Sox game to celebrate her birthday. I hope the Sox do the decent thing and score a lot of runs and hit a few home runs to set off the fireworks.

Dunn got a hit and a walk tonight and no Ks. That's a pretty damn good night for him. Is he coming around?

QUOTE (DirtySox @ Aug 18, 2011 -> 04:38 AM) Juan has put up a .2 WAR this season. He isn't as putrid as he was previously, but it's a far cry from good. On a team full of lousy hitters, I stand by my statement that he's had a "good" season, especially for us.

QUOTE (iamshack @ Aug 18, 2011 -> 03:41 AM) Go piss in someone else's Cheerios. QUOTE (iamshack @ Aug 18, 2011 -> 03:45 AM) Oh well...just bounce back tomorrow, fellas. Continue winning series'. QUOTE (DirtySox @ Aug 18, 2011 -> 03:50 AM) The thought of a Juan Pierre extension makes my stomach turn. 1.) That made me laugh for some reason. Good line. 2.) That would be funny if we won the division by a game. It seems like that's been the sense of urgency around the team all year. That eventually we'll get it right. I'd rather get hot and win 10 in a row. 3.) Juan's had a good season, but it's Dayan time.

QUOTE (chw42 @ Aug 18, 2011 -> 12:02 AM) Cards fans I know hate LaRussa. He's like the exact opposite of Ozzie in a bad way - he overthinks EVERYTHING and tries to put his signature on every game. I see no way LaRussa returns. Where does this talk come from? So what if Jerry and he like each other? He's been Cards manager forever and they are going to want him back. So it's a matter of wanting to be a manager or not. If he wants to be a manager still, he'll stay in Looie. Any proof to the contrary?

I was impressed with the crowd last night, those of you that stayed. To be truthful, I was so pissed at our leaving runners on base I didn't care if we won or lost til I thought of the fans. I wanted that 'W' for the loyal fans who stuck around after Sergio's stinkbomb in the ninth and stayed until we finally won on Juan's hit. Fans seemed great. How many were there at the end? About 5,000? More?
-
So awful bats tonight? One run? Our team is so bizarre. Just when it looked like the bats were OK and we were playing better at home. Back to .500.
-
I think you guys worry about bullpen overuse too much. So we can't use Crain. All the other guys should be available.
-
QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Aug 17, 2011 -> 08:08 PM) why is Lucy starting? I like what TFlo brought We can't afford to have Lucy be Dunn-like at the plate. I hope he can get some hits.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Aug 17, 2011 -> 06:24 PM) It is possible, by the way, that the Sox win the division, AND Ozzie is gone in the offseason. Not likely, but possible. That is my ideal scenario. Only way that one happens is if Ozzie desperately wants to go to Florida and tells Jerry that. If we win the division, our record is going to be decent. People will be proclaiming Ozzie manager of the year for winning with a big ox hitting .160 and so many guys having blah seasons. Detroit's not going to blow the lead. Oz haters don't need to worry. He's off to Florida.

This season is a statement on organizational resiliency

QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Aug 16, 2011 -> 11:51 PM) Oh most definitely. I've seen several people use it as one of KW's "mistakes" or something along those lines. How can you not blame KW? The player isn't producing. It's like those who blame Ozzie for his players not producing. -
QUOTE (dielac @ Aug 17, 2011 -> 07:15 AM) We lose a game and we are the worst team ever. We win this game and the division is ours... Lets settle down people. 1/162. Agreed. The Sox were frustrating as hell again tonight. I can't believe they won the game. I'll take it. Yes. But that was 2 bad teams playing baseball out there. Or two very mediocre teams. If the Sox want to catch Detroit, they got a lotta work to do still.
-
Good win because we won. Great hitting early then the same ol s*** with men on base. Didn't we strand 16 in 14 innings? Some ballsy pitching but again that game looked like 2 bad teams out there. Love DeAza's two triples. Juan baby.
-
Of course I will. I was jumped for saying Juan is a "good" baseball player. He is a good baseball player. I stand by that statement and I'm glad he got the hit and we beat those assholes.
-
I'm out as well. Can't take it any more. I'l check the ¥ahoo scoreboard later. Kudos to the fans who stayed and tried to cheer these lousy clutch hitters to victory.
-
Epic fail. What a joke this team is. You think we'd luck into one of these extra inning walkoff wins at home. Way to move the runners. Way to score one f***ing run in extras in a "big game" the opener of a "big series."
-
The home team cannot squander opportunity after opportunity. If we don't score this inning, I say Cleve puts up a 4-5 spot and it's OVA. Too many chances. Gotta win now or forget it.
-
Rios needs a duck snort.

QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Aug 17, 2011 -> 05:02 AM) If he was on the team Guillen would of pinch ran/defensive replaced his ass by now. I'm glad I like Ozzie. So much less stress in my Soxfandom since I like him.
-
It's criminal to not win it now for Crain and those enthusiastic fans! Criminal.
-
You gotta give Hawk credit for announcing hard all 14 innings. The Royals announcers act like they hate baseball.
-
Craig is pitching awfully.
-
LOL at yet another horrible loss this season. Wow.
-
I can't believe Becks didn't make the clean play and tag the runner like Fathom said. Fail.
