  1. Hey this game was unwinnable. Bruce Chen was starting. We coudn't expect to win this one. Now we'll take the next two with no problem ... sure.
  2. LOL Melky baby. Fans booing heavily. SELL THOSE PLAYOFF TICKETS FRONT OFFICE. What a joke.
  3. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 13, 2011 -> 03:50 AM) I was wondering this question earlier: Is Dunn having the worst season in modern day professional sports history for an established player? I thought somebody said yes to that question. Maybe some yahoo writer or somebody. I think he's worst since 1910 or something.
  4. They really don't need to bring in Soria, but prolly will unless they score a couple this inning.
  5. I love Ozzie, but not playing DeAza is another fireable offense for him. Rios' one good week was typical Rios. So he has a couple good games against horses*** teams and everybody loves his raw ability and has to play him. GIVE ME DEAZA please.
  6. Sell those playoff tickets, White Sox. I know all teams allegedly do it, but I'm still appalled people have to buy playoff tix for this team or lose their spot in line for next year. Nice bats, Chicago.
  7. I turn on the TV and log on and see we have one f***ing hit. Nice. BTW KC got swept all four in Tampa w/out the Rays sweating.
  8. QUOTE (pittshoganerkoff @ Aug 12, 2011 -> 07:08 PM) Espy is his dog. The dog wrote that post. Oh. Thanks for the info.
  9. If he goes oh-for-April and May next year again I sure hope he retires.
  10. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 12, 2011 -> 06:35 PM) 18/31 steals when he led the majors in 2010 and when that's his main weapon....that's not surprisingly good. His defense is worse than last year. He's making $8.5 million (part of it is subsidized from LA, granted). Sure, he's had a lot of clutch hits in the last two months and his average has risen to a decent number for a singles hitter, but it's not like he's a bargain by any stretch of the imagination. If Dunn/Rios/Peavy and Beckham didn't exist on this team to disappoint us, Pierre would return to his previously vilified status (of course, if they were all hitting and pitching well, we'd be in 1st place going away and Pierre's average season wouldn't matter much). Morel's a bit harder to pick on as an often overmatched rookie making the league minimum. Pierre may be not worth his salary, but few baseball players are. People buried him early and most of those people won't admit he's had a nice season. He's not great, but he's been decent in his final year in a WS uniform.
  11. QUOTE (God Loves The Infantry @ Aug 10, 2011 -> 11:42 PM) Yeah, those Asian dudes running the Western Union shop that got destroyed totally looked like rich oppressors of the poor (er, in this case, suburban brats acting up because a drug dealer got whacked). I hope next time a looter shows up to wreck those guys' livelihoods, claiming that he's just showing the rich that he can do what he wants, the dude with the mini mutton chops beats him to death with a steel pipe. Little bastards deserve it. They should be arrested and thrown in jail for a long time, but that's a lot extreme. I hope they get caught and put in jail a long long time and I hope the shop owners had insurance.
  12. QUOTE (iamshack @ Aug 12, 2011 -> 05:52 PM) Well you obviously just have your moral compass dialed-in super tight on this particular issue, because honestly, on here, you come off as a guy who doesn't give a flying f*** whether you hurt someone or not. I've learned to understand your particular brand of humor, but you don't strike me as someone who is all that concerned about other's feelings. And just as a disclaimer, I have honestly never cheated on any woman I was in an exclusive relationship with. I have been cheated on myself. I got over it, just like I get over all the other evil s*** human beings do to one another on a daily basis. Some people, my guess is those who have been cheated on, seem to be extraordinarily sensitive in regards to this. Ah but people on here sometimes assume different personality/alter ego than their real life. Does greg refer to himself in the third person in real life which made one guy flip out and apparently get suspended a couple weeks ... perhaps, perhaps not. I have never cheated on anybody but know a ton of cheaters and have not dumped them as friends or told their spouses. That may make me a bad person. I hope not.
  13. I'm not the brightest bulb. What did Mark mean by all the barks.
  14. QUOTE (Real @ Aug 12, 2011 -> 06:49 PM) I'd rather have Vizquel at 2B over Beckham, Gordon is clueless with a baseball bat. Please no more Omar. We can't win a division playing Rios. Just sucks that Oz won't play DeAza. Will Gordon and Hosner go deep off Zach tonight? Fathom is right. This screams KC 11, Sox 5
  15. QUOTE (chiguy79 @ Aug 12, 2011 -> 02:40 PM) We would also be in first if Pierre could catch fly balls and Thornton was ready to pitch in April. If we are going to make a run, Dunn should not be in the lineup. QUOTE (Paulie4Pres @ Aug 12, 2011 -> 06:09 PM) I have never seen an every day DH bat ~.160 over the course of an entire season. It blows my mind he is still in the lineup pretty much every day. Do people realize how bad you have to be, to bat .161? 1.) How many games did Juan cost us? I love how this has become a commonly accepted belief on here that somehow Juan Pierre has cost us as much as Dunn/Rios, etc. Bulls***. AJ and Juan have had surprisingly good seasons and both get no love. 2.) Yes we do. We know how bad Adam has been, how historically bad.
  16. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Aug 12, 2011 -> 06:01 AM) When he hits over.270, I call him Juan Dog. Under .270 and it's Slappy. Mark is a badass. I want someone to work with Gordon badly. That is one great post.
  17. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Aug 11, 2011 -> 11:39 PM) This. And I don't know why it needs to be more philosophical. It's a simple concept. But cheaters don't think it's harming another person because in their minds their wife will never find out.
  18. QUOTE (MexSoxFan#1 @ Aug 11, 2011 -> 11:20 PM) This is where Ozzie has to grow some balls and tell Dunn he needs to get his head outta his ass and send him down to the minors to work on his game or flat out sit his ass.Done is just brutal and he's killing us.DL him, send him to Mars, I don't know, just get him the hell away from this team! He's definitely not helping our team's push toward .500. I think we'd all be 100 percent happy to see him sent to the minors or given the rest of the year off, but that can't and won't happen.
  19. QUOTE (chw42 @ Aug 12, 2011 -> 02:56 AM) He's definitely hated, but there's a lot of hated players that don't have a negative WAR (still). He's been damn good for a long time now IMO. Most buried him after his first error of the season and haven't let him off the hook since his second error. I'm not a big fan of Mr. Slappy, but .281 is .281.
  20. QUOTE (zenryan @ Aug 12, 2011 -> 04:17 AM) The Tigers have 13 games left against teams with a winning record. The Sox have 25 games against teams with a winning record. If Detroit plays .500 ball, they'll win 85 games. For the Sox to get to 85 wins, they will need to play .600 ball the rest of the way. That is asking an awful lot for a team with a losing record 117 games in. Let's face it the best we can hope is to win four of our final six vs. Detroit. That's if we play well. All the people who kept saying how early it was all season ... it's now late. It's time to win, win win. We gave away so many games early that figure to again come back and haunt the Sox. Sox are four back in the loss column entering a series vs. s***ty KC. You'd think that's a recipe for greatness, but we know the drill against KC.
  21. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 12, 2011 -> 02:36 AM) Go for it! I'll trust you guys who know our prospects the best. Does Sale have 3-4 good, effective pitches? If so, he's a starter, right? If he only has two, he's a reliever.
  22. QUOTE (MAX @ Aug 12, 2011 -> 01:48 AM) The sox best home stand was a 5-2 mark in may. They need to do something like that again. You got to take 'em one at a time I know, but it's time to really, truly sweep a homestand. So as to not jinx the team, I will reiterate no way in hell that will happen, and in fact KC could easily take the series. New York and Boston kicked our f***ing ass all over the Cell and the Royals have our number again this year.
  23. QUOTE (winninguglyin83 @ Aug 12, 2011 -> 02:32 AM) Sometimes I wonder how Dunn faces the other guys in the dugout and clubhouse and on the plane. what a joke. It's easy to face them. He makes more money than any of 'em. He gets the last laugh.
  24. Juan Pierre 3-5 two RBIs and a run scored. He is hitting .281. Give it up for Juan Pierre. The most productive hated player in America. Also ... Mark, Konerko, Lexi, Sergio. Good road trip. It's put up or shut up time at home.
  25. QUOTE (iamshack @ Aug 11, 2011 -> 10:43 PM) Yeah, I get that. I guess I was hoping for a little more philosophical response. I guess I'm just pointing out I am not sure marriage is a brilliant concept... When people get married they make vows. If they are going to go that route (let's face it, many people marry because they want to have families and be GREAT parents) they should remain faithful. You are taking a vow. Don't go that route if you don't want to stay faithful. That said: I know tons of people who cheat and think it's natural.
