  1. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Aug 7, 2011 -> 03:15 AM) Stewart looked good for those of you who couldn't believe it when I suggested he be the 5th starter the rest of the year. He'll have his ups and downs but I wanted to try and dump Peavy and his salary at the trade deadline. It would be great if he and Humber pitch well the rest of the way. They would really soothe the pain of losing guys like Gio and Hudson. I mean if those 2 are for real, we have that much less to b**** about going forward.
  2. QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Aug 7, 2011 -> 02:06 AM) I met Ozzie on Thursday at Rosemont. He was super cool. He may suck as a manager but he's always been a good person. It's too bad Oney doesn't follow in his dad's footsteps. I don't know why you guys think he sucks as a manager. People act like these managers actually are all that different. My only beef with Ozzie is he likes the bunt and his players can't bunt. Now I normally blame the players for failures. But it seems like he should take the blame for not making them work on bunting enough. s***, how long would it take to work with each individual guy on bunting until they have a clue on how to do it? Other than that ... I don't see the problem. I still don't blame him for playing Rios/Dunn even though Kenny gave his 'OK' for Ozzie to bench them. I mean cmon. Guys that make that kind of money don't sit the bench for long. They just don't. My only other beef with Oz is he could bat Rios/Dunn maybe seventh and eighth, but they still would be in the lineup and that means they still get 4 at bats a night.
  3. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 6, 2011 -> 10:54 PM) In this division of course they can. But they can only compete if they get good performances out of Peavy, Rios, and Dunn. There's just too much money locked up there to get around this kind of garbage. What do you 'rebuilding' lovers want the Sox to do then? Trade trade trade in acquiring prospects like KC does? What's wrong with keeping the pitching staff and working on the lineup via free agency? The Sox could have been smart and acquired Francour on the cheap this year and he'd have been EONS better than Dunn. If teams won't take 1/2 the salary of Rios/Dunn then I'm sorry, you have to simply release Dunn and let Rios be the fourth outfielder. By starting both of them, we are assured another season from hell. That's 2/9s of the order with both players batting in the 4-6 range in the lineup. Just way too big of black holes. Rios can sit and sulk; maybe he's lazy enough he won't mind sitting the pine and earning his money; Dunn we'll just have to cut if nobody will take him off our hands for 1/2 the salary.
  4. QUOTE (buhbuhburrrrlz @ Aug 7, 2011 -> 02:10 AM) too bad detroit keeps winning or we could climb back in this That's cause they know how to beat s***ty KC. Valverde is 8-8 this year in save opps vs. KC. The great: Sox pitching was awesome. Everybody has to be excited about Stewart. Paulie, Lilly, Lexi, Pierre scores two runs and is hitting .279, Rios with 3 hits somehow, DeAza with another hit and run scored, Morel a hit and a walk. The bad: Dunn three more Ks and down to .163; Beckham now at .245. Would like to see Oz sit Rios Sunday and play DeAza and CQ both. Unfortunately I smell Rios playing every day again thanks to his three hits. DeAza MUST PLAY!!!
  5. QUOTE (mcgrad70 @ Aug 7, 2011 -> 01:53 AM) A ridiculous waste of the closer here with a 5-run lead.. What further proof do you Ozziepologists need this manager is grossly incompetent? Are you crazy? He's hardly pitched at all in a week since we lost, uh, six in a row. Hmmm CQ gets a day off and Rios gets three hits and now CQ is rested for Sunday. And there was a meltdown when the lineup came out. It doesn't matter, folks. You just have to take the field and win the f***ing game. Tonight the Sox did.
  6. It's easy to say you want a rebuild. Going through it will be agony. The Sox need to be Yankees light. Sign a batch of free agents and Latin/Janpanese players while trying to not have the worst minor league system in baseball. We need to keep this base of good pitchers and start "rebuilding' our lineup. First step is to somehow get somebody to take Rios and Dunn off our hands with us paying only half the salaries.
  7. Why in the hell would Tony LaRussa want to finish his career with the Sox? I say no way in hell would he want to. He finishes in St. Looie then retires.
  8. QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Aug 6, 2011 -> 10:07 PM) I would love Mark back. Maybe a 3-year deal worth $30 million? I think that is fair for both sides. Mark has made plenty and clearly isn't money-driven, but the Sox also can't afford to just low ball him and insult him. My biggest worry about Mark is his desire to remain here. I think he senses the dysfunction and would probably rather go home to St. Louis where the likelihood of winning is higher and he won't have to deal with the shenanigans of this organization. I bet he'd sign three years for 36 million right now. These guys risk career ending injuries every time they take the mound.
  9. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Aug 6, 2011 -> 09:23 PM) How can Ozzie justify playing Rios for any reason? I don't give a s*** if Carlos was 0-35 against Pavano. Rios is literally the worst everyday player in baseball and stopped hustling a long time ago. What kind of a brain dead manager is this? It's obvious he's trying to get fired. How the hell can you get cute and play matchups with one of your 2 only good hitters? And to replace him with a no good piece of garbage like Rios?! WTF. This buffoon would probably replace Pujols with Rios if given the opportunity. Get used to it. Rios will be in the lineup for many moons to come. As will Dunn. Sox were willing to pay these guys long term; we'll have to suffer watching them long term.
  10. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 6, 2011 -> 09:55 PM) No he isn't. He isn't even been in baseball nearly as long as Humber If he gives us 7 innings and allows 2-3 runs that would be a good start to his Sox career.
  11. QUOTE (Wanne @ Aug 6, 2011 -> 07:22 PM) Ya know...not trying to be a conspiracy theorist here...since it's a tragic loss of life...but I find it highly suspect that the entire Seal Team involved in the "supposed" death of Osama Bin Laden died. Tell you the truth...I always thought the guy was dead for the past 6-7-8 years anyway. Just smells fishy to me...but then again...I don't believe one damn thing our government tells us anymore anyway. They're all liars. See: Pat Tillman murder Operation Fast and Furious just to name a few...and not to mention this whole Debt fiasco. Not trying to cause a s***-storm...just my inner-doubts about anything that's presented to the public. Hell...I'm still outraged that I found out a while back that people in congress are not subject to Insider Trading laws! Really?!? People go to jail for that crap...except if you work in Congress. IMO this country is going right straight down the s***ter. I'm a 2nd Amendment proponent...and proud of it. And I'll be damned if they send ATF to try and take my guns...because when the s*** hits the fan...I'll be glad I've got 'em. My credo has always been..."rather have them and not need them...then need them and not have them". I just DO NOT trust anything our government tells us...PERIOD. That's an interesting take. The government lying is not a good thing. When all the newspapers finally go all online, I would suspect we'll have even fewer checks and balances on this stuff. What news organization is going to supply the staff needed to root out corruption in government when news organizations are dying?
  12. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 6, 2011 -> 09:49 PM) I don't know youd apply hot, "Moderate with some potential" is more accurate. I guess I was wondering if he's at the Humber stage of his career entering tonight.
  13. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Aug 6, 2011 -> 09:44 PM) And where are these prospects? That's right. There are none. As long as he's here, you play him. If only to build his value up for next year. Rios has no business playing tonight at the expense of CQ. And my break does not start until gametime tonight. Why do you care so much, Jordan? This team had a six-game losing streak until last night. It's not like it means anything. CQ is 0-17 vs. Pavano. He'd prolly be 0-21 after tonight. Maybe Rios will close his eyes and connect a couple of times. My point is, who cares? It's a lineup of a bad baseball team. Maybe Stewart will pitch a two hitter and we'll win. (I cannot believe how the White Sox never win in a blowout. We either lose all kinds of ways or if we win it's in a tight game).
  14. Unless Mark really wants to get away from this dysfunctional team, I'd suspect he'll sign three years for 10 million a year. Right? The Cardinals won't pay him much more than the Sox would, correct? If he really wants to hit the payday jackpot, however, we have no chance of keeping him. Certainly some Yankee-like team will be willing to offer him five or six years. He's pretty damn consistent. But like many of you said, he probably doesn't want to pitch out East.
  15. QUOTE (Flash Tizzle @ Aug 6, 2011 -> 09:41 PM) If I'm Pavano, Konerko doesn't see one hittable pitch tonight. I love when righties walk Paulie to get to the lefty Dunn. That's always fun.
  16. Is this Stewart guy still considered a hot prospect?
  17. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Aug 6, 2011 -> 08:55 PM) I'm taking a two day break from all things White Sox. Now this doesn't mean I can't post in the diamond club or slam or other sub-forums. But I'm done with PH talk for now. Ozzie has sucked the White Sox life out of me. f***ing dumbass b****. I hate him so much. Oh, and to greg. If you defend this clown after this latest atrocity, then never talk to me again. At least when it comes to the White Sox. Atrocity? It's a yawn to me. I just hope we win the game. I've long ago given up on a title this year. Just win, baby. It'll be a minor miracle if we ever get to be one game over .500. I like CQ and hate Rios as well but yawn.
  18. Every time we win a game somebody expresses hope we can win the division. And we rarely win a game. Nothing wrong with optimism but s***, the Sox were due to win a game after dropping six in a row. Team is going nowhere. Even last night the horrible hitting continued with runners on base.
  19. QUOTE (Paint it Black @ Aug 6, 2011 -> 03:21 AM) Watch. This team is going to sweep or something and pull my gullible dumbass right back in. I've taken a break from white sox baseball the past two nights and I'll probably watch tomorrow..... Why are they moving Peavy back? Jake might have sucked it up and pulled a Buehrle and beaten them. Now we get this Stewart guy?
  20. QUOTE (sin city sox fan @ Aug 6, 2011 -> 02:41 AM) Let's all change our attitudes about this team starting today! We are ready to make a playoff push and the team needs our support to make it happen! Lets win it all come October! I like your attitude, but I can't hop aboard with glee yet. Too many stranded runners again tonight.
  21. Five runs were enough. We get two home runs from CQ and still score just five. 'We'll take the W, especially in Minnie.
  22. LOL. Two out double by a lefty. Our lefty woulda struck out.
