QUOTE (CrimsonWeltall @ Aug 11, 2011 -> 10:24 PM) So he's not only lying to and being disloyal to his SO, if he's not practicing safe sex, he's potentially exposing her to diseases as well. Nice. QUOTE (God Loves The Infantry @ Aug 11, 2011 -> 10:29 PM) Which raises another question... How on Earth does Greg know that they have unsafe sex? I mean, is this guy running around saying, "Hey guys, I f***ed someone. She wasn't my wife. I did it bare too! Yeeehaw!"? Worse, does Greg get to watch? Lot of fishy s*** going on here. 1.) I know. That is pretty rotten. It should be illegal if wife catches something. 2.) I said "one guy I know." Some cheaters like to talk about their exploits. He's a good friend and he told me his philosophy on cheating and some of the girls he had he didn't use safe sex. I prolly should dump him as a friend but like I said I know a lot of cheaters. He's not a bad guy. He told me once that when he had a heart health scare he felt it was a sign he ought to clean up his act and not cheat anymore. I don't cheat but some do. And some will talk about it if they are friends. Why was that so hard to believe? Another question is: Would u dump a friend if he cheats on his wife?

QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 11, 2011 -> 10:04 PM) Yes Omar batting second really truly hurts our chances of winning on a given day. Juan better have amazing days if we hope to win when Omar is hitting second. Juan had two hits yesterday and it still didn't help too much.

QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Aug 11, 2011 -> 04:31 PM) I don't think there's much grey area to it. If you cheat, you're a bad person. I don't believe anyone is actually stupid enough to not know that cheating will directly hurt someone. Interesting topic. I don't know if the people I know who cheat are bad persons. This one guy has 2 kids and is a good dad. He just has a lot of money and cheats like crazy. I truly think it's an economic thing. People that are rich and famous sometimes tend to be selfish and feel they deserve to be satisfied sexually at all times. I truly respect guys who do not cheat. But to those who do cheat, it seems like it's a lifestyle thing. They don't think twice. They just cheat. And most guys I know who cheat have a lot of money and/or clout. I am amazed that some of the cheaters I know don't even practice safe sex all the time with the cheatees. That is pretty sad.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 11, 2011 -> 08:44 PM) Greg, you're six days too late with the Rios comment. Although it sure would be nice if he knew how to bunt...not that Dunn or Beckham would have driven the runs in during the 8th. Rios isn't fooling me with one good week. I want DeAza.
-
Thank goodness no Omar. Dunn is hitting where he should (I mean if he has to play at all). Too bad Ozzie won't bench Rios and play DeAza. Sad.

QUOTE (Greg Hibbard @ Aug 11, 2011 -> 07:29 PM) The Sox will finish this season over .500; I don't really understand why people don't believe this. Yes, they have seemingly stumbled recently. They were over .500 for the month of May, over .500 for the month of June, at exactly .500 for the month of July, and are at exactly .500 in the month of August. They are over .500 in the second half, even with a 6 game home losing streak. They will be over .500 by the end of August. That will take care of itself. GB is everything. Sorry to disagree with you. Maybe because they've had plenty of time to get over .500 and upon creeping right there, they faceplant again. Wake me when they get over .500.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Aug 11, 2011 -> 02:29 PM) That's good to know, I'll take that option. Apparently, I'm a moron. I've been a season ticket holder since 2004, and I don't plan to give that up because of this season. And since we've moved into a primo location for our section, and I don't want to lose it, I'll be renewing, which means paying the postseason invoice. But it's criminal to have a team this bad force its fans to pay for playoff tickets (ha ha) or lose their prime locales for next season. I can't believe teams pull that s***. Wow. What if we were 10 below .500? Would they still pull this crap? They could at least wait until mid September. My god. This is not a playoff team. It's been an embarrassment. I didn't know of this policy. My bad. p.s. I can't believe you ticket holders aren't outraged. They don't need to do that this early. This team is not a playoff team. They should at least wait until Sept 7. They don't NEED to do this this early. What a greedy POS move.

QUOTE (TitoMB @ Aug 11, 2011 -> 06:53 PM) And we have, what, 4 more years of Done? This could go down as the worst signing in the history of the White Sox. It already is the worst signing in the history of the Sox. Those that hated Kotsay can say the same thing about Dunn. The team was hot and last night he could have helped bail us out and he goes 0-4 ... again. We can't win a division with that guy playing every day and he's gonna play about every day. f***.

QUOTE (Stan Bahnsen @ Aug 11, 2011 -> 05:41 PM) Irrelevant. Liriano was about to be DL'ed/benched when he no-hit us. I know. I was just meaning to point out that Chen is a hack who like most pitchers this season has rejuvenated his season by facing our bad lineup. I fully expect him to mow us down again.

Do you guys think our s***ty economy could lead to riots? All it would take is for some serious uprisings in downtown LA or Chicago or Boston or Philly or anywhere to start chaos.
-
QUOTE (Reddy @ Aug 10, 2011 -> 02:20 PM) really? come on - who cares anymore? people in authority have affairs. I honestly dont think that precludes them from being great at their job, and thus, i couldn't care less if they have them. we don't think less of our ballplayers if they do the same thing - so why should we about our politicians? Some people cheat; some don't. I respect those who do not cheat. I went to a bachelor party in Vegas a few years ago where 80 percent of the guys were married. All 80 percent of those guys were hunting for women. Most of them got laid. Amazing how many cheaters are out there.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 10, 2011 -> 09:24 AM) Trading Beckham at his lowest possible value just doesn't make any sense. Rios could be the leadoff hitter. Or Lillibridge/DeAza. Ramirez would be the 3rd best option. Go with Door #2. Rios would be a disaster at leadoff as he has been everywhere else. Lilly is a sub. He is not a starter.
-
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 11, 2011 -> 02:23 AM) Ozzie also didn't get Lillibridge or Ramirez into the game as PH'ers. At least both those guys can get an extra-base hit or a homer...Lilly should have hit for DeAza against a LHP. Ramirez could have hit for Vizquel. Do all fan message boards second guess their manager after losses like this? Wow it is relentless. I can't wait til we hire a bad manager. This site will be something else.
-
Somebody should ask Lilly in the media if he tries to hit a home run every at bat. It sure looks like that is his approach to me. He is a puzzling little fella.
-
Anybody who orders postseason tickets is a moron. That is a crime you lose your seniority if you don't order them for this s*** team. Wow.
-
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 11, 2011 -> 03:20 AM) We probably have to face Chen and/or Duffy, right? God help us if Ozzie doesn't play Lillibridge and expects Dunn to hit a lefty for the fourth time all season. Chen has been crap since devouring the Sox two games in a row.
-
QUOTE (hawksox13 @ Aug 11, 2011 -> 03:17 AM) I'd like to hear one logical/reasonable/sane reason why anyone thinks this Sox team is going to win this division. Not. Going. To. Happen. Will we ever get over .500 is the real question. I say no f***ing way. Well the home run derby stopped and we lose. f***. We got to hit 2-3 homers a night to win. Frasor looks like another cruddy acquisition. Giving up a bomb to Baltimore is inexcusable with the Sox again flirting with .500.
-
QUOTE (flavum @ Aug 10, 2011 -> 05:33 PM) My thing was-- get over .500 and within 3 games of Detroit. So sweep the O's, and the Tigers lose one more in Cleveland, and it'll be "game on" for the final 45 games. I have to admit, the power surge the last 5 games has been nice to see. This team has actually been watchable. Dammit. Omar second is ridiculous. I'd rather have Beckham up there if Lexi is getting the day off. s***. And the power surge you mentioned has been THE KEY to our finally winning some games in a row. Dunn seventh is perfect; Omar second, ugh.
-
Well, Dunn figures to hit about 15. Can Lillibomb catch him? Doubtful. p.s. The only way we can win this division is if Oz/KW keep batting Dunn seventh. Fourth is a killer to our lineup. A total killer.
-
I forgot about longing for Tank cause it's obvious Sox won't let him play in the bigs this year. He'll be a September call up and rarely play. Next year is a different story. They'll let Pierre go without resigning him and it'll be Tank time. Obviously the plan was to keep him in the minors all year. I disagree with it but I got over it cause they wouldn't bring him up.
-
QUOTE (chw42 @ Aug 10, 2011 -> 03:54 AM) Morel has 20 HR power at best. That bomb he hit tonight suggested great potential.
-
QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 10, 2011 -> 03:19 AM) Then why do you support the bunt? I don't want us to bunt only because our guys can't bunt. I understand the situations in which he sometimes wants to bunt. That is my confusion on that issue. I've said Oz deserves scorn because he's calling for the bunt and not demanding they learn how to bunt. Also we have NOT until this trip been bombing multiple homers. If we can start hitting home runs like this, whether we bunt or not will be inconsequential.
-
QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Aug 10, 2011 -> 03:43 AM) Well first and foremost, I can't f***in stand Ozzie and to say he's a good manager at this point is pretty ridiculous. But anyways, I'm not even mad at the way he's handling Sale and Santos right now because to be perfectly honest, it just doesn't matter. Those two are just so damn good right now, it just doesn't matter what spots you put them in. That being said, it's some of the strangest managing I can remember seeing, it really makes no freakin sense. QUOTE (chw42 @ Aug 10, 2011 -> 03:53 AM) Guillen is overmannaging the bullpen like Tony LaRussa. But I can't complain about the Santos/Sale thing at all. Although if I'm Chris Sale, I wouldn't be so pleased that Ozzie is deliberately letting Santos vulture saves away from me. 1.) Why is it ridiculous to say Ozzie is a good manager? Is it his fault his team waited until this road trip to start hitting some home runs or multiple home runs in games? If our offense had done a flip for the first four months we'd be in first place. Why does it make no sense? Sale got 2 outs and Sergio one. As far as using Ohman, I hate Ohman but he's on the f***ing roster! He has to pitch some. I didn't read the whole game thread but were some people mad Floyd was still in the game in the 5th and Ozzie had nobody up? That would be stupid criticism. 2.) Sale shouldn't be upset. He succeeded. Sergio succeeded. We won the game. If complaints of Ozzie are centering on him using guys (Pierre, Rios, Dunn, Ohman), the blame should be 50-50 with KW because KW put them on the damn team!!!
-
He's looking like a major league hitter of late. If he is actually improving, look out, cause we all know that glove is already golden.
-
QUOTE (kwolf68 @ Aug 10, 2011 -> 02:58 AM) Team is kinda fun to watch again...trouble is we're still possibly 5 out and making up that ground is going to be very difficult. Kudos to Morel for that bomb. And Quentin's bomb as well. Folks, we go as far as our long ball takes us. Keep bombing away, White Sox.
