F*** It, Part 2: Electric Boogaloo. Its just the Cubs

QUOTE (Springfield SoxFan @ Jun 23, 2011 -> 04:34 AM) Good analysis, agree totally. Pen was SOLID tonight. Hawk is a former player, not a journalist. He's not going to ask a fellow player a controversial question. No f***ing way. If they paid Hawk to be a journalist, fine. They don't. SO he don't ask no tough questions. Who cares? -
QUOTE (South Side Fireworks Man @ Jun 23, 2011 -> 04:29 AM) AJ won the game with his triple and probably saved the game by letting Ozzie & Coop know that Peavy had nothing left. If they leave Peavy in, the Sox probably lose. Too bad they didn't listen to AJ in that Oakland game. Great post. If it was up to Peavy he'd be left in every game, every pitch, every inning. Peavy was toast and AJ demanded he be taken out of the game. Any of you play sports? I've been b****ed out many times by teammates. Yes it's wrong to do it on TV and in a stadium full of people, but AJ didn't trust Oz to get Peavy out of the f***ing game. So what if AJ is a prick? He helped save today's game. If Peavy doesn't like it, fight AJ. I think both would get their shots in.

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jun 23, 2011 -> 12:08 AM) In my opinion its pretty clear you keep KW and get rid of Ozzie. You can say KW should be clairvoyant and know that Dunn would fail, you can say that Rios was risky and that the Jackson trade didnt pay off, but in each of those moves, Kenny was trying to improve the team. If you are going to have a GM who gambles, you better be prepared for some busts. But I like that he takes risks, I like that he convinces JR to spend money. Id rather a GM go big and bring excitement, than a guy who just plays it safe and settles. Yes but he went big and came up small. The 'big' is the amount of money he has to pay busts Peavy, Rios and Dunn.

QUOTE (GREEDY @ Jun 22, 2011 -> 10:21 PM) This forum is more "what have ya done for me lately" than any sports related website I read. Some might get upset in an individual at bat by Paulie, but for 2 years now he has been incredible. He could go 0-for-20 and I guess some would bury him, but it's undeniable how good he's been.

QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Jun 22, 2011 -> 08:23 PM) Who cares? I care. I don't care what the team is I don't want to face them when they're on a roll. Oh, and I actually root for the Sox to win, so that's another reason. This team has proven it can lose to the worst teams out there and beat the best. So why does it matter? The competition does not matter to this team. it either comes to play or it doesn't.

The hatred of Rongey on this site is flat out embarrassing. I mean WTF? Do you listen to his show?? How does somebody have a "tendency to politely and eloquently let you know you are an ignorant dumbass?" Uh, he doesn't hang up on every caller. The caller has the right to talk back at Rongey.

QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Jun 22, 2011 -> 10:34 PM) Ozzie loses games with regularity with bad, over-aggressive "small ball" moves. KW cannot be faulted for Dunn, that should have been a slam dunk, and may be over the rest of the contract. The Peavy move was risky but not a horrible decision, so far it has worked out close to worst case scenario. The Jackson trade was stupid, and the Rios waiver claim was perhaps too risky, although who would be in CF now otherwise? KW has a good team on the field, they're just not playing well. Ozzie hurts the team every day, he goes. How can Kenny not be faulted for Dunn?? He picked him up and he sucks. Kevin Pritchard got fired in Portland for taking Oden over Durant when every GM in the country said go with Oden. Pritchard paid the price. Fired. The Jackson trade was a travesty. A total fai. The Rios waiver claim was horrible. Rios is miserable. The World Series was great and KW deserves credit for that.

QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Jun 22, 2011 -> 09:46 PM) But he's not productive...so that fact doesn't matter. We aren't talking about Adam Dunn from 2004 to 2010. We are talking about the 2011 Adam Dunn who has no confidence, a poor swing and is just an awful batter right now. The past is the past, what's important is now. Cmon. I despise Adam Dunn's hitting ability, but the guy is in a multi year contract and his name is Adam Dunn. Unless you cut him, you play him and you don't pinch hit for Adam Dunn. Cmon, you disagree with that?? You are paying him so much f***ing money. He hits until he's cut or hopefully traded. If you are the manager you don't pinch hit for Adam Dunn. You watch and sadly shake your head.
-
That's kind of an offensive statement. Konerko is god right now. Period.
-
QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Jun 22, 2011 -> 07:28 PM) When Adam Dunn is batting .021 against lefties and a lefty comes into the ball game at a crucial time, you can most definitely pinch hit for him. How many times has he been pinch hit for in his career since he's been productive? I'd venture to say, uh, never?

QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Jun 22, 2011 -> 07:29 PM) If Kenny really had the power to make Viciedo play everyday then he would. My gosh, can people not read between the lines?? I disagree that a grown man like KW would lie to the media when it involves himself. I can see him lying about making trades, etc. But this is about his manhood. He said clearly the coaching staff doesn't feel it needs Viciedo. He added that if he felt strongly the team did he would need to meet with Ozzie and state his case more forcefully. Why is it so difficult to believe that right now Ozzie wants Juan and KW is going along with it. If Juan continues to suck, KW needs to visit with Ozzie. You really believe Ozzie has the power to shoo KW away from his office and say, "I want Juan. You keep your Viciedo."
-
QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Jun 22, 2011 -> 08:06 PM) You can say it all you want, but when the owner tells you to follow your subordinate's demands, than your left with 2 options: 1) resign 2) make sure as much blame as possible gets put on said subordinate My gosh KW said in the article if he wanted Viciedo it was up to him to meet with the coaching staff and make his case more forcefully. Do some of you even read the articles before posting about articles??
-
QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Jun 22, 2011 -> 06:57 PM) That's Ozzie's choice pretty much, or atleast it's become that because of JR's loyalty to Ozzie leading to this ridiculous organizational power struggle. True, but if KW wants Viciedo, like he said in the story, he has to meet with Ozzie and make a stronger case for it. He's the boss or that's what he said in that interview lastyear, that he was Oz's boss.
-
Great quote by AJ. Dunn's whole existence right now is being told he is a pile of dung. I wouldn't boo him if I was at a game, but I would continue to laugh. It's sad. No Sox fans wanted to see him suck like this. It's a shame for him, but he's hitting something like .120 in the Cell. He's as bad as any pitcher would be with that many at bats.
-
Ozzie. Kenny's highest paid guys have flamed out the worst. Rios, Dunn, Peavy. Getting rid of Hudson was insane. If you can't get Jackson for 2-3 lousy minor leaguers, don't make that deal. And paying Viciedo this kind of money to be in the minors is also insane. Bye bye, kenny.
-
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 22, 2011 -> 06:33 PM) This paragraph is why I love Kenny. If he or Ozzie has to go, I hope to god it is Ozzie. I could point to quote after quote in past articles why I love Ozzie. KW should be fired. This team he put together is dogs***.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 22, 2011 -> 04:44 AM) Now he really outdid himself in the post-game. "You never pinch hit for Adam Dunn." C'mon, if he's so mentally weak that he can't recover from the humiliation of Lillibridge, Beckham or Castro hitting for him until he gets his act together...you'd have to think that even he would agree it's better for the team for someone else to take a shot. They obviously aren't going to bench him for Viciedo, but Ozzie in the next couple of weeks has to be open to other options in those situations. Nick Swisher contributed a lot more in 2008 than Dunn has so far and Ozzie was willing to pull the plug on him for Wise. Dunn has a much bigger contract, but they basically allowed Swisher's value to go to zero...just a salary dump. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 22, 2011 -> 07:07 AM) You obviously didn't hear the nonsense for 45 minutes with Barry Rosner. Seriously, 20-25 minutes were spent debating the "manliness" of wearing Buzz Lightyear children's sunglasses. At least I'll give Rongey credit for admitting that they really were "filling dead airtime" and not entertaining anyone at that point. And then Rosner at least five times intimited he had some semi-secret solution to the nation's energy crisis. It was inane. Surely there was SOMEONE better to talk to for a full 45 minutes at a Cubs/Sox game. As far as "scaring him away" by saying anything or something critical...I'd like to think it would make him better at his job to hear both positive and negative feedback. Now it's not like he can come to my classes in China and provide me feedback, lol. By its nature, he has a very public job, it goes with the territory. If nobody notices you at all, that's when you really know you're in trouble working in a media. job. As far as Rosner, who cares? Like you said, they were goofing around and filling airtime. I heard it. I thought it was OK. And as far as the Dunn argument, uh, he's right. You don't pinch hit for Dunn ever. It's his opinion and it happens to be right. His Pierre discussion with Gonzales was great. He brought up all the Sox talk points and they both threw out the pros and cons. The bottom line is he's a good host and just because he doesn't agree with you guys on Pierre doesn't mean s***. I really truly don't think Rongey cares what you all think of him. He shouldn't. Fans are fanatics and lunatics and hear what they want to hear. Whether you guys want to believe it or not, Pierre's been hitting about .260 and a lot of guys on the team suck balls worse than Pierre.

QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Jun 22, 2011 -> 05:20 PM) we've really run into some bad luck this season in terms of facing a rotation's top starters, catching teams when they're hot. And now the Nationals seem to have caught fire (9-1) right before they come to town. I'm hoping things balance out in the 2nd half. Who cares? The Sox have underachieved. If they fear the Nationals then they deserve to lose another series. The Sox fate will be decided by how they do against the Central. So far signs have been that they will be b****slapped all season again by Central opponents.

That was rather enjoyable despite all the runners left on base again. Mark is a pleasure to watch as is Sergio. Paulie. And those doubles we hit to left were pretty to see. Not enough of em, but those were nice.

QUOTE (Soxfest @ Jun 22, 2011 -> 05:52 AM) I cannot listen too him for 5 seconds he is a ass kissing SOB. He is a joke and people everywhere laugh at his dumbass comments that are NEVER ever any fault of the White Sox Brass. You guys are brutal. Rongey visits this site and you bury him. Shame. I listened to the rain delay show and his interview with Mark Gonzales was awesome! They discussed the Pierre issue and Rongey sounded LOGICAL and not a homer. You people slay me. Rongey is a professional!

F*** it, I've Got This. White Sox vs Cubs 7:10 first pitch

QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ Jun 22, 2011 -> 05:47 AM) I'm pretty sure they can use "anxiety" for the DL, I think it might have entered that point for him. I know I'm in the minority and outside of about a 7 game stretch he has done nothing to make me think this but, I think he'll turn it around. At this point he won't end up with 40/100, but I can see 25/70ish... which would be a letdown coming into the season, but 18 HRs and abput 45 RBIs would help. I was thinking the last game or two... is Paulie absolutely that red hot or are teams still respecting Dunn behind him a little or is it a mix of both? I thought of that, too. The protection in the lineup thing helping Paulie. But when you see pitchers just go after Dunn and whiff him, it doesn't make sense. Dunn isn't even walking much any more is he? Pitchers are just whiffing him away. -

QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ Jun 22, 2011 -> 05:42 AM) are you seriously just writing it off completely? obviously he's been a major disappointment until now, but he's still got over a half a year left and a few years, let's see if he settles in some. My only hope is the Frank Thomas article saying it takes time to learn to be a DH. That's my only hope. -

QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ Jun 22, 2011 -> 05:41 AM) they absolutely can pinch hit for him, if some of this is mental then the damage of him looking horrible against a LHP or getting pinch hit for is probably neutral. From what I've seen, he's missing a ton of mistake pitches. He is going to K a lot no matter what, even if he heats up and hits 10 HRs in 20 games or something, he is going to K a significant amount of times, he just looks that much worse since he's not hitting the ball out of the park on a regular basis. Perfect example was in Arizona, I believe, when PK hit one, Dunn K'd and Rios hit a homer... Dunn has 2 great pitches to hit and fouled them off where in the past he likely demolishes one of those pitches. Great post. I just can't see pinch hitting for the big fella. He's supposed to be all everything and is failing. But did we sign him thinking he'd never face a lefty? I think you have to pretend he's the old Dunn and let him bat. If he fails he fails. That said, I wouldn't be against a fake DL stint for him to once again try to get his act together. -

I don't know how Paulie does it, but he's been so good the past 2 seasons and more. But the past 2 seasons he hasn't even ever had a cold spell has he? Knock on wood. If he doesn't make the all star game they should just cancel the game. -

Oh. Well I guess the Dunn signing looked good on paper, Heads. But he's turned into yuk.
