Chicago White Sox vs. Texas Rangers
QUOTE (flavum @ May 16, 2011 -> 08:11 PM) When Pierre gets booed tonight, it's more for Ozzie than Juan. Oh cmon. You boo Juan Pierre you are booing Juan Pierre. Boo Ozzie when he brings the lineup card out or takes out a pitcher. Why boo Juan Pierre?? What the f*** is that going to accomplish? He's not the only goat on this s*** team. Boo f***ing Adam Dunn if he doesn't have a big game! he's key this homestand. Dunn should be booed if Pierre is booed. As far as the game ... Rangers are damn good. They have played good ball and have played in a million big games the last year and 2 months. We need to play well or we gonna get waxed!! Cmon Edwin.

Hawk and Wimpy Reunite
QUOTE (Pants Rowland @ May 14, 2011 -> 12:47 PM) This^^ Hawk and Wimpy were a great tandem. It has been a long time since I enjoyed listening to the commentators of a Sox game. Stone is a brilliant baseball man, but I think Hawk and Stone both have high ego personalities that need to be paired with a guy like Wimpy who is relaxed and easygoing but confident enough in his own being not to get pushed around or get hazed. I loved listening to the old pair last night. It's cool the way Wimpy jumped in and yelled 'yes' on the "put it on the board, yes' call on Paulie's blast. Stoney won't do it, which is fine. Stoney's a pro, but it was cool hearing Wimpy jump in as DJ did.

Floyd-Ross: This time its personal... Sox @ A's
A win Sunday and it'll be a good road trip. Baby steps. A loss and it's a rather blah trip again, but at least over .500. 5-4, 4-5, whatever.

Floyd-Ross: This time its personal... Sox @ A's
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ May 14, 2011 -> 10:26 PM) Blah. No point of even commenting on Pierre and Pena anymore. This has been one boring ass game. I really don't enjoy watching this team. I do because they're my favorite team. But there's like 10 other teams I enjoy watching more than them. QUOTE (iamshack @ May 14, 2011 -> 11:03 PM) I'm serious dude. Very few fans are blessed enough to grow up cheering for a team that wins titles or goes deep in the playoffs more than once or twice a decade. It's what sports is. You can either embrace that fact or take up selling Longaberger baskets with your aunt. Two good posts. Last night's game was boring, too. Sox are slumping at the plate again. Second post is true, as well. Deep runs are rare.

Posada
QUOTE (oldsox @ May 15, 2011 -> 02:54 AM) Now that it looks as if Posada will be in the Yankees dog house, Kenny will probably offer our six best prospects in a trade for Jorge, and then double his salary to make him feel better about himself and assure him that he will never bat lower than 6th in the lineup. Ozzie will say something that no one can understand. That's a pretty funny post. I liked it.

Oh good, our offense is in the tank again. Bring up Tank. NOW!

2011 AL Central Catch-All Thread
QUOTE (knightni @ May 14, 2011 -> 01:03 AM) Yankee fans want a white lefty batting Golden god on their team. Shades of Ruth, Mantle, and Mattingly (plus Josh Hamilton). Yeah but they'll be cheering for him for four years I guess until he's a free agent.

THAT'S A WHITE SOX WINNER
QUOTE (Andrew @ May 14, 2011 -> 05:57 AM) Wow. I love the win, but not sure what you were watching. It was a fastball and AJ caught it and applied the tag. If it woulda been some bad breaking ball, Crisp is safe. You have an aggressive style of posting.

I have hope
QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ May 14, 2011 -> 06:48 AM) If the Sox don't win the division, I really hope the Indians or Royals take it just so that people will have to see and admit that it is possible. Me too. I don't the Indians or Royals are bad teams this year and I think Cleveland easily could win the division.

THAT'S A WHITE SOX WINNER
QUOTE (BigEdWalsh @ May 14, 2011 -> 04:50 AM) Thank you Coco Crisp for your attempt at stealing home (Well done, AJ!!!). I can't believe how well that worked out for the Sox. Perfect pitch for that situation. Nice tag by AJ. AJ had a good defensive game tonight, although obviously he still can't throw anybody out on steal attempts.

The Humber v B-Mac Spectacular
QUOTE (Andrew @ May 14, 2011 -> 04:47 AM) So you didn't see the scoring, but you witnessed the failing to score. Is that right, Greg? I'm not harping on anybody but Ozzie. He doesn't pitch. He does put people in to pitch, however, that jeopardize wins. But you have to...y'know....WATCH. to see how that transpires. Whatever - do/think what you want, I don't care. Some people watch the whole thing. No at this moment I still don't know how we scored. Hawk and Wimpy I don't think ever went over our scoring in the later innings. How can you possibly be mad at the people Oz used on the mound tonight. He may suck on occasion but what was wrong with tonight's managing? He used Crain, Thornton and Sergio pretty well I thought. Seriously what was so bad? Maybe you wanted Crain in longer? One could argue and say Oz played that correct.

THAT'S A WHITE SOX WINNER
QUOTE (Jake @ May 14, 2011 -> 04:41 AM) Pitched well but could certainly be argued that we won a game in which we were outplayed. Good teams get wins like this, glad we had one go our way. Happy to have another WGN broadcast that I can see here in Memphis. Good win. I don't know about being outplayed by much. Oakland had one decent inning. Funny how other teams load the bases with nobody out and find a way to score 3 minimum though. It could easily have been an extra innings loss if we were still playing horribly. Oakland steals home to tie it and eventually wins it in a walkoff. None of us would have been surprised at that outcome. Horrible offense tonight, though. Lot of horrible pop ups and bad at bats. So what though. Sox won. A great win considering the opponent.

Hawk and Wimpy Reunite
QUOTE (bigruss22 @ May 13, 2011 -> 06:27 PM) Wow that's awesome! I used to go to the Abbey after Christmas every year as a kid, I loved it (my parents had their honeymoon there and kept going back because they would get killer deals around Dec. 27th every year). The Abbey is awesome.

The Humber v B-Mac Spectacular
QUOTE (Andrew @ May 14, 2011 -> 04:19 AM) This team is so f***ing pathetic. Where did that come from? I actually watched the entire game AFTER we got the 4-0 lead. I didn't see how we actually scored runs. white I wasn't happy with our anemic offense in the innings I watched, I never sense tonight we were pathetic. Decent enough pitching by Humber. OK defense and great play by AJP on the steal of home.

2011 AL Central Catch-All Thread
QUOTE (High Mileage @ May 13, 2011 -> 06:12 AM) Royals just took 2 of 3 from the Yankees in New York. Their fans were booing them tonight in the 2nd inning through the 4th. They chanted "MELKY! MELKY! MELKY!" and cheered loudly for him all series. They also cheered Eric Hosmer, who homered in back to back games. Goddamn I hate the Yankees!!! Is this true? If so Yankee fans are bonkers. Why the f*** would they cheer Hosmer? I don't know why Yankee fans would be in such bad moods. The team has had a decent start.

MLB Attendance problem? (KC, CLE, Cubs, NY teams)
QUOTE (High Mileage @ Apr 22, 2011 -> 08:34 PM) I don't believe there is much (if any) concern about attendance here in KC. The organization pretty much waived the white flag on the '11 season with all of the talk about 2012 and our farm system. Moving Greinke and DeJesus surely didn't help either. Last year, there was at least some expectation that they'd be able to contend (I know right), and despite our "hot" 12-7 start, people are still waiting for the team to come back down to it's expectations this year and/or waiting until June for the prospect(s) to get here. It also seems like we've played a lot of day games already this year... If KC keeps winning, the place will be 30,000 plus all June and July and the first 2 weeks of August. Problem is they've already had a ton of home games. KC doesn't draw squat in April and May, at least not the last 15 years when people have been resigned to s*** teams. KC will be fine.

Juan Pierre
QUOTE (oldsox @ May 7, 2011 -> 06:32 PM) Gotta bring up Tank soon. Another big game last night. Why is this such a tough decision? Might as well bring up journeyman 3B Mcpherson (sp) at same time. That'll make room for other minor league promotions at third, OF. When Tank comes up he has to play ever day like KC's Hosmer. Or else it's stupid. Just dump Pierre for Tank.

Heyman "Count on" Danks filling for free agency
QUOTE (bigruss22 @ May 11, 2011 -> 06:48 PM) Wins mean something, but not much. You just can't blame a pitcher for being outstanding but losing almost every game just because he has no support. But at the same time, you can't discredit a pitcher for holding onto leads late in the game, etc. It's a common perception nowadays that wins mean nothing. I don't know how this perception took hold, but it's ridiculous. To be 0-6 is embarrassing.

AND THAT'S A WHITE SOX COME BACK WINNER!!!
QUOTE (The Baconator @ May 13, 2011 -> 03:49 AM) To the point of people 'hating watching the end of games'... sometimes it's not that they have given up or are tired, it's just that the stress is too much. My father is this type (and it has irked me for years)- he left the room during the '05 Illinois/Arizona Elite 8 game, missed the 'Bush Push' in the '07 ND/usc game, left at the end of the Texas/usc championship game, game 2 of the WS, and it goes on. Beyond my father, I have a couple friends that just get too stressed to watch something that they are so invested in. I don't get it myself (hell, I watched every game of the '07 season on Gametracker because I didn't have tv but couldn't miss a minute) but I do get that some people are just wired that way. If I ever feel that way I just pinch myself and tell myself to watch the f***ing game. I was worried of course in the 05 postseason but watched every out of every playoff/WS game. Yes if we would have lost those close games against the Stros it would have sucked. But we won 'em. Might as well watch it all. Sometimes I feel like turning regular season games off on my mlb.com but only do when my computer gets hot. Question for any computer whizzes... When I use my work laptop and watch the Sox, the laptop gets real hot and even hums a bit. I tend to turn it off between innings when that happens and after the commercial it makes it thru the next half inning fine then starts humming and gets hot again. Is the humming just the machine cooling it down? Can I keep watching inning after inning with no cares? Or is it telling me it's going to fry? The laptop I have at home doesn't hum or get hot at all.Thank you. Question has been on my mind.

AND THAT'S A WHITE SOX COME BACK WINNER!!!
QUOTE (hawkubes @ May 12, 2011 -> 08:14 AM) He also had a lot of emotion out there. At first on his errant throw where that lil' grinder for the angels was running toward first on the grass (and was called out for it). Maybe I'm making too much out of it, but I loved how pissed off Jake was when they pulled him from the game due to pitch count. Probably not, but maybe he lit a fire under this team's collective behind. Maybe he did light the fire. He definitely is a bulldog personality wise. He will pitch til his arm falls off that's for sure. He's also just another starter. He's not dominant. Not a flame, he's just another guy in our rotation. How can you say he's better than Floyd, Danks (0-6), Mark and Jackson. I'd include Humber too. He's been really good.

How to Get Viciedo in the Line UP
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 12, 2011 -> 05:35 PM) How often in our blogs do we diss any player with questionable defense and yet Juan pierre gets a bye. I'm guess its because he walks a lot, steals base half the time he attempts or is it because of his RBI totals. Can't we dfa him and recall Viciedo Where do you get that Juan Pierre gets a bye? He has been public enemy number one for six weeks now. Man Juan Pierre is really under the bus this season. He's become the new Kotsay/Wise. He stinks, but he did get on base 3 times last night as well as dropping the deep drive. That ball was hit pretty hard and deep. It's Peavy who gets the bye on here. He's beloved.

How to Get Viciedo in the Line UP
You don't want to start Omar or Lillibridge on a team serious about winning anything of significance. Just put Viciedo in right and CQ in left. Or gamble and put Viciedo in left.

AND THAT'S A WHITE SOX COME BACK WINNER!!!
That wild pitch on the intentional walk was hilarious. I have never seen that before on an intentional walk in a Sox game. Lot of heroes has to help team morale. Omar: Big hit and sac fly. Thornton: A save. AJ: 4 hits. Dunn: 4 hits including a bomb. Paulie: Defense. Teahen: Defense with nice scoop by Paulie. Thank you Angels for pissing it away as well, but we've pissed away so many it was good to get one given back to Sox. Paulie's play at the end ... wow.
