  1. QUOTE (fathom @ May 7, 2011 -> 04:51 AM) Cause it basically gave up an out to move Ichiro to second when he could have stolen the base probably at 95% success rate. If he was on 2nd, then bunting would make sense. But ... it worked. Again, you guys are a tough crowd.
  2. QUOTE (Real @ May 7, 2011 -> 04:50 AM) Keep losing! Pleaseee! It's the only chance for changes! Damn you CQ, why do you have to be so awesome! I don't understand this reasoning. He already has the Sox buried enough that he should be fired. We don't have to lose any more to prove Ozzie deserves the boot.
  3. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 7, 2011 -> 04:47 AM) Ummm, no. How would AJ possibly throw out Ichiro stealing? I think even Pierre could probably have at least a 75% success ratio against AJ and our pitching staff. You guys are a tough crowd. How can you argue it was a good decision when they took the lead?? (Likely for good; forgive me for not believing in the boys in grey).
  4. That terrible decision is working out just fine. It's called moving runners into scoring position which can in itself chance a batter's approach as he faces an RBI situation. Of course it matters not to Sox hitters who this season fail whether runners are in scoring position or not. It was a very good decision to bunt.
  5. It's like we are the Washington Generals. We come to town and lose and all the fans have a good time.
  6. Look at that, a sacrifice bunt. Yes the bunt is called for at times when the book says play to tie at home, win on road. Though Ozzie gets roasted for bunting.
  7. I just hope they are targeting the right prospects for the trades that will be coming. I don't see this team doing squat on this road trip and at some point everybody will be in agreement the Sox buried themselves in one simple 5 week span to open the season. I mean if they go 2-7 or 1-8 will some of you still be hopeful of a turnaround?
  8. QUOTE (Paint it Black @ May 5, 2011 -> 03:40 AM) Everyone in this thread will be back in 3 weeks. Since I'm still watching, tonight and tomorrow because of no night game and no game at all, I plan on reading more and watching the NHL playoffs. You won't be saying that after this road trip I believe.
  9. Can you imagine if the White Sox somehow, someway got hot and crept to within four or five games at some point the second half? I know there's no way in hell that could happen, but let's say somehow, magically, it did. Once again ... you'd go back to all the games the Sox pissed away in April and early May as preventing a serious division run. I mean to those who think it's "still early." Even you must agree we have pissed away so many winnable games (like today when Minnie's 'closer' was trying to give it away in the ninth by hitting Lilly) that there's no mathematic way in hell we actually could win this division. By some utter miracle we might be able to get it to 4 or 5 games at some point, but to win it? No way. When is this team simply going to become less dysfunctional?? Game after game we pissed away in April has ended any chance of winning the division. It's just too many games to make up in the loss column.
  10. The team has been horrible at home as well as the road. The home losses have been really really bad and come in bunches just like the road losses. I doubt we'll hear excuses. The Sox know they suck.
  11. QUOTE (La Marr Hoyt HOF @ May 5, 2011 -> 02:09 AM) See Kotsay 2010 ... JP is thrown out 50%of the time ... and is a Cub to boot. Would rather start The Elf Ugg on the elf. I'd rather start one of the three starting outfielders for our AA or AAA team.
  12. QUOTE (flavum @ May 4, 2011 -> 09:00 PM) It makes me wonder if they converted all of the early saves, and actually started the season 11-2, or whatever it was... Would they be a good team now? Did the bullpen woes infect this team mentally, and they just can't get out of it now? It's just a bad team with no balls. That is a great question. I do think we have a fragile team, we usually do, and I think it would have been different. I can't even remember the blown saves now, but that one night we blew a three-run lead in the ninth against some team that wasn't even playing well at the time. That was a killer. I definitely think our players are fragile p*****s and the bullpen implosions pretty much put the team in the swoon that buried them by the end of the first week of May.
  13. QUOTE (Tex @ May 5, 2011 -> 01:57 AM) Hmm, what are the Rangers doing? Now that the Sox season is shaping up to be a really bitter pill to swallow, I will probably sneak a few more peaks at Ranger's games than I would have. Not switching allegiances, but I just can't watch a passionless piece of crap team. What are you going to do with a little extra free time? Good question. I love baseball but to think of no meaningful games in June and July ... crazy. I know I won't be watching any Sox games from start to finish. Will probably catch parts of games here and there, especially if they change the roster and I want to see new guys play. I personally as a fan don't want to see AJ and Juan Pierre bat again this season. I could do without seeing Adam Dunn again as well. Bring him back next spring training and let him try again to actually get a meaningful hit in the first five weeks.
  14. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 5, 2011 -> 01:44 AM) Well, Vizquel probably will still be useful as a player- coach for both Lexi and morel True, but Ozzie will play him if he's on the roster and on the team.
  15. QUOTE (pittshoganerkoff @ May 5, 2011 -> 01:55 AM) I try to remain positive, and for some reason I still watch the games. However, I'm starting to think that watching a Kids Can Play II team would be much more enjoyable than watching what's going on now. I watched the end of today's game while remaining positive. I just was amazed (again) at the awful at bats in the ninth. Their closer looked like horses***. We're at home, a supposedly desperate team and we can't at least TIE the game? I hate to be a negative nancy this season, but god, how much can a sane person take?? It's driving me crazy watching it. I'd rather see a guest fan come to bat with the game on the line than Juan Pierre and Omar.
  16. QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ May 5, 2011 -> 12:09 AM) Guillen thinks he is in the NL. He is not going to bench Pierre. He thinks that the leadoff hitter is a position and requires a 40 yard dash time over talent. Problem is he's become another plodding base clogger. He can't steal a base anymore and can't bunt for hits. He bad. I do think he'd be an effective pinch runner going first to third and second to home on a single. That's about it, though.
  17. QUOTE (Jenksy Cat @ May 4, 2011 -> 10:54 PM) Milkman being a douche, thats new. I'm fine with attacking the players, its 100% on them. Having a panic attack over how we should fire everyone involved with the organization is comical to me. Nobody's having an attack. We just think the fact KW and Ozzie's team already is out of the race is grounds for firing. We've played our last meaningful game of the entire season and it's may 5. That's difficult to do. Think about it. This team is off the radar until spring training 2012. Amazing. I mean if that's not a fireable offense?? If you are not going to fire Oz, KW, Walker, etc., then you at least have to start dropping bodies. I'd start with Pierre, Morel. AJ will fret, but he probably should be the backup catcher now. Once again, by the time Peavy hits the ML club we're out of it. Amazing. If he has a couple good outings, see if you can trade him to the Yankees or Red Sox. Trade Mark and Paulie as well. These trades will be vital for the future of the team. If they are rotten trades, we will be done for a long time.
  18. Fire both now. This is big boy land, the major leagues. Both have single-handedly cost the Sox zillions of dollars in revenue the rest of the year. It's tough to be out of the race after five weeks. The Sox have accomplished that. Kenny and Ozzie should both be shown the door today. Who cares at this point if Ozzie goes on to win many WS titles with another team (which he'll do). It's hexed up right now in Chicago. I think Ozzie will have success somewhere else; Kenny I think is done. He'll be a scout like Jerry Krause.
  19. After this road trip, the season will officially be over. I hope the Sox accordingly start to make some changes and plan for the future. Losing two straight to Minnesota in the Cell, a horrible team that entered the series in as big a mess as Chicago, tells you all you need to know about our team. Also, losing 3 of four to Baltimore, a team about to get boatraced by the Royals in Kauffman, tells you how horrid the Sox are. I'm actually looking forward to seeing the "rebuilding" mode in action. Again, after a 2-7 or 1-8 trip, even Ozzie, Kenny, Jerry will realize it's time to rebuild, reload or whatever you want to call it. Start selling off the pieces.
  20. There's no reason for Omar to be on the team anymore. It's not a contender. No need for a 43 year old to be batting/fielding on a non contender. If we were a contender, he'd have some late inning defensive value. Not now. Dump him and Juan Pierre immediately. Also, I know we have a lot of candidates for the No. 9 spot in the order, but we have to dump enough dead weight (send Morel down) so we can bat AJP ninth which is where he should be batting the rest of his career. He's a horrible offensive player right now. I don't know how he hit a home run the other day. Was the wind blowing out??
  21. LOL. 3-0 then 3-2, then pop up. Hilarious. But don't fire anybody. It's still early.
  22. take another. Yu can't hit, sir. Now comes the whiff.
