Osama Bin Laden Dead
QUOTE (bigruss22 @ May 2, 2011 -> 03:18 AM) My mom just came into my bedroom and said "Obama is dead." I about stopped breathing for 30 seconds until she realized what she said and corrected herself "Osama is dead, Obama is speaking soon." That's a pretty big mistake from your mom. Oh well, give her a hug anyway.

Dunn
Would I be a bad fan if I blamed many of our offensive problems on high-paid, low-producing Dunn? If he had had a decent April, just a f***ing decent April, we wouldn't be 10 out already. He has had plenty of key RBI situations and FAILED. Oh I forgot, he's all screwed up because of the appendectomy. Maybe I'm cruel for blaming him when he had that problem. All I know is he's sucked and the team offense also has sucked. If he was hurt I'd rather have had him sit out all the games or do a minor-league rehab rather than him resemble a big dung pile.

QUOTE (klaus kinski @ May 2, 2011 -> 02:45 AM) All-out? Great, great line. That should be a headline in one of the Chicago papers.

This Team is Trash Garbage...
QUOTE (lostfan @ May 1, 2011 -> 11:04 PM) It's to the point where they lose and I'm not even upset anymore... it's pretty bad that it's April and I'm already there. It's not so much what their record is so early in the season, it's how awful they're playing and I don't see any end in sight. I don't get mad either because I expect us to lose every single game. That is amazing it's gotten to this point, but s***, even if we ever lead again late, our bullpen will probably blow that game. Remember Lilly's 2 great catches in NY to save yet another loss? This team has lost five in a row since winning the first two in NY?? That's insane. I mean loss after loss after loss. This team is total, utter garbage and I also see no end in sight. Sox just go out there and lose almost every day.

Make the Case for Ozzie
A lot of us don't like Cora, either. I like Ozzie and am thankful for his tenure. I just think this god-awful start after last year's equally schizo-play means he does deserve the boot. Don't know if it will help at all. I would prefer KW and Oz get axed the same day, truthfully.

We need to pack the The Cell Tuesday & Wednesday
QUOTE (sin city sox fan @ May 1, 2011 -> 10:42 PM) Anything less than 35,000 for these games would be embarrassing. Sox fans need to be true fans....not fair weather fans. QUOTE (sin city sox fan @ May 1, 2011 -> 10:54 PM) To the fan base. To the organization. To the players. To everyone. If you can't support our team except when they are winning at a 75% clip, Jerry might as well knock the payroll down to $25 million per season, average about 12,000 fans per game, and make a nice profit off TV revenues. QUOTE (sin city sox fan @ May 1, 2011 -> 11:02 PM) These two teams will still be the ones battling for the division title come September and the games played at this point could make the difference. I realize that not everyone can afford to go to every game....but based upon the crowds thus far, there's a lot of people who haven't gone to any games (or just a few this year). If the fanbase is not going to support this team, why should the players give a damn? Anybody who wants this team to give a 110% effort every nite should also be willing to give that effort as a fan. QUOTE (sin city sox fan @ May 1, 2011 -> 11:14 PM) Seattle's not convenient for me....its still 250 miles away and I'm making the effort to be there. If I lived that close to Chicago, you bet I'd be at the Cell for this key series on Tuesday and Wednesday. Sin City I like your enthusiasm, but with all due respect nobody should go to the Twins games unless they just love the baseball experience. The team is a total disgrace, has played horrible baseball at home. Even bad bad teams generally can muster a .480 to .500 record at home. This next road trip screams 3-6 at best, likely 2-7 and by that date the Sox truly will be out of it. There's really no reason to go to the games unless you love the balpark food or the Cell experience. These rich ballplayers deserve nothing right now. Now if Oz and KW get fired tonight, I'd change my tune a bit. It'd show Jerry is fed up and perhaps we truly could start over at 0-0. What you are saying about supporting the team through thick and thin IMO is dumb because these are millionaries. p.s. Poor Milkman has to be on the brink of a little vacation. No need to call sin city a "tool" and in the next thread stand by his word.

"Mayday, Mayday" 5/1 Gamethread
QUOTE (Real @ May 1, 2011 -> 10:13 PM) Do yourselves a favor, dont pay for tickets to see this dogs*** until they win at least 3 in a row in convincing fashion. Save yourself the headache and the money. That's a pretty good idea unless ... a.) You simply love baseball and are at your best when in a major league ballpark. b.) Love the ballpark food and I assume it is still great at the Cell. c.) Have a designated driver so you can drink 10 beers which I assume are about 10 bucks a beer now so you can drop an even 100 bills on brew. If you love baseball you might as well go to the games, just do not expect a victory on the way to the yard and while in the yard.

"Mayday, Mayday" 5/1 Gamethread
Enough is enough. You can't get swept at home by f***ing Baltimore. Fire Kenny and fire Ozzie tonight both. Go with that Hahn guy as GM and promote Cooper to manager. I really don't want Buddy Bell. But if it has to be Bell, make it Bell. s*** happens and the team's performance in April and now MAY means it's time to clean house. Even that ninth inning. I mean yes the pitcher was wild, but pick your spots and take a hack! Paulie had at least two meatballs to slam. Rios had no intention to hit; he was trying to draw a walk. bad call? So what. And AJ. He was obviously no threat to get a hit off that slow tossing closer. FIRE SOME PEOPLE TODAY. Please.

Nine Back in Loss Column
QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ May 1, 2011 -> 07:00 AM) I haven't even been watching the games. I watched them all for the first two months last year, hell I watched them all in 2007, so I know bad stretches when I see them. But this year is just particularly unwatchable IMO. The "all in" campaign that now looks like a complete joke, the early losses due to dropped fly balls, bad bullpen work, and bad defense, and the shellshock this team (particularly the offense) has been in since those horrible early losses. All of it combined just makes this team impossible to watch for me, and this is the first time I can say that in all of my time as a fan. I pay attention to the box score, results, and our record and standings place every day because I'm no bandwagon fan. But these games are too pathetic and painful to watch. People can keep saying it's just April (May now), but facts are that our start cost us a playoff spot last year, and the odds of a 25-5 run again are VERY low. A mere 3 game winning streak seems impossible right now. This team at current pace will surpass the 2001 team for the most disappointing in my time as a White Sox fan. This is a good post. I understand what you are saying. It truly is painful to watch simply because it's the same thing every f***ing night, except for two nights in New York and the offense was putrid in both the victories there as well. If the Sox were winning once in a while, it'd be watchable, but right now it truly is torture. Can you imagine trying to sell tickets when your most loyal fans simply can't bring themselves to watch this trainwreck? If the Sox get swept by Baltimore, somebody has to be fired. This is just too much. It'd be different if the team hasn't been so rocky for three seasons now. I've been watching a lot and I can't believe how bad a hitter Adam Dunn is and how sick it is to see highly paid ballplayers hit pop up after pop up and weak grounder after weak grounder. Did you see the stat the Sox are hitting something like .210 the last 14 games or something wild like that??
-
Dunn
Adam Dunn again had a chance to save the Sox tonight. Bases loaded with nobody out I believe. Close game. He again strikes out. How many times can this guy fail? I didn't notice on TV how many boos he got for that stellar at bat. He should have been booed off the field. I mean guys ... how long are we going to wait before we deem this guy an utter failure?? He is as bad a hitter as I've ever seen.

Make the Case for Ozzie
It will be really interesting to see what happens if KW doesn't fire Ozzie. Ozzie can't go on any of his Oz rants the rest of the season because they are not cute when this team is this bad. Ozzie will just have to sit back and take the flogging of the fans and the media. This is a big boy's game. Ozzie knows it. He definitely should be fired right now. The question is ... will he be fired?

2011 White Sox Catch-All Thread
QUOTE (since56 @ May 1, 2011 -> 03:12 AM) Watched tonights game. I felt like laughing at times. I felt like crying at times. Was just plain pissed off most of the time. I watched it too. I'm constantly totally amazed at how many weak pop ups our guys hit. And how games just utterly turn to crap and steamroll out of control at some point. Do you realize since the bullpen implosion when we were 7-4 or whatever, we have had what, one save situation? Two save situations? We're not even in games.
-
Make the Case for Ozzie
You can't make a case for him right now. Normally I'm not a fan of booing, but what else can our fans do? The Cell must be an utterly depressing place to be. Nobody goes to the park hoping to "boo" their lungs out, but what else can the fans do? This team is a piece of s***. Utter piece of crap. As far as Ozzie, nobody can defend him. You either fire him (which even he probably would accept as something he deserves) or ride this out with him. The team is 10 out in the loss column. It will take well past the all star break to catch Cleveland at this point (Cleveland is not going to lose 8 in a row; they play too well at home) and that's if the Sox start playing ball. So again ... there is no defense of Ozzie. The question is, do you fire him now? Cora and Buddy Bell are very depressing options; I'd do it if you could get Torre. Or you keep him because of the team's track record under his leadership and ride this storm out. I think he should be fired, but again, only if you have a name lined up. It has to be Torre or Bobby Cox. s***, by now, Cox might be bored out his ass and agree to take over.

Nine Back in Loss Column
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Apr 30, 2011 -> 10:51 PM) Lol@ that being a pet peeve. Greg, you are the greatest poster to ever live. Thanks. Can you believe the Sox are 10 back in the loss column as April concludes?? My god. This is like a bad dream. I mean if the Indians just play winning baseball at home the rest of the year and win four of every 10 road games we'd never catch them even with a good sizz. Sox are going to take a big hit in concessions and parking this year, that is for sure. I'm assuming the team gets to keep most of the money on concessions and parking.

2011 White Sox Catch-All Thread
10 back in the loss column. Sox are by far the worst team in the league. Can't win at home or on the road. I mean a 5-4 road trip would be a miracle after this homestand. We're going to be 12, 13, 14 games out by the end of that trip.
-
Nine Back in Loss Column
The Indians have won 11 in a row at home. Once you start dominating at home, you can continue that even with a mediocre baseball team. Royals may be slumping, but at least they also are rolling at home. Sorry if I'm so pissed. But I have one pet peeve. That my favorite team play good baseball or decent baseball the first month and not be nine out in the loss column after one f***ing month.

Nine Back in Loss Column
QUOTE (bucket-of-suck @ Apr 30, 2011 -> 09:45 AM) This thread is ridiculous. There are more than 5 months left in the season! Why do some people always revert back to this? I'm saying the team is on life support right now and sticking by it.
-
Peavy had rotator cuff tendinitis
Finally some good news. Maybe Peavy will give the team a spark when he returns. Hopefuly the team won't be 15 back by then.
-
Told You So
But Marty, you didn't think the starting pitching would be great? "On paper" it again looked dominant. And the addition of Crain gave the Sox "on paper" a damn good bullpen. And adding Dunn gave the Sox a ton of pop in the lineup. Add to that Morel looking great at the end of the year and an emerging young combo of Beckham and Alexei, how did you know this team would suck??
-
Nine Back in Loss Column
The White Sox, after another horrid home loss, are nine back in the loss column. At what point do you start to worry that the team has dug too deep a hole to possibly climb out? 10, 11, 12, 13? I mean I think this team is already on life support.

GAME THREAD: Orioles @ Sox, 4/29, 7:10pm
Six hits and awful pitching. That's the way to win games. Another home loss. Now the Orioles get to feast on the Sox. Good luck selling tickets, Sox.

Told You So
QUOTE (Marty34 @ Apr 30, 2011 -> 04:30 AM) Love this board and I take no pleasure in being right predicting this as a mediocre team (at best) during this offseason, but what were optimists thinking? How did you know? I fell for the hype after signing of Dunn and Crain. Team is really really putrid.
-
Dunn
If the crowd gets liquored up tonight and this homestand, it might be Dunn who starts getting many of the boos.
-
The GREAT Daniel Hudson
Edwin Jackson should be our closer and Sergio our main set up guy with Thornton. Sale should be in the minors starting.

GAME THREAD: Orioles @ Sox, 4/29, 7:10pm
QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Apr 29, 2011 -> 05:40 PM) With current ticket and parking prices, the payroll, and the way they're playing...I'd have no problem booing if they started out poorly again. Oh yes, they'll boo them off the field if they lose again tonight. I just wish the team would abide by the cliche and take them one game at a time. It seems like we just go out and lose, lose, lose and drop games in bunches. What are we, eight out? This is getting so ugly so early. I don't care if it's Cleveland. We fall 10 back heading into that 9 game road trip? The season will be over in mid May.
