  1. QUOTE (Knackattack @ Apr 24, 2011 -> 12:52 AM) I just want something to happen. Don't sit idle with a bad team and insult the fan base by saying Brad Penny and Wade Davis are fearsome pitchers. Exactly. Brad Penny? My god. I'm assuming we had a lot of lazy pop ups and a few line drives right at outfielders.
  2. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 23, 2011 -> 10:26 PM) At this point, if we can put Rios on waivers and have someone claim him, you drive him to the airport. That's one contract that would be great to rid ourselves of. Great post. Might as well try it.
  3. QUOTE (Real @ Apr 24, 2011 -> 12:16 AM) I'd rather they keep losing Lower attendance and better chance of coaching staff being fired. Winning a game here and there would be detrimental more than positive unless they literally turn into a different team and win tons of games in a row which aint happenin' I don't understand this. It's April. Do you want a season from hell and no fun baseball this summer? I really think they should fire KW or Ozzie right now. I mean, unless they don't want to eat the salaries. The month of April is now classified as a disaster. That's one month of the season. Teams have fired guys in April before. I guarantee you Ozzie wouldn't be surprised if he got canned. He knows the drill.
  4. People hate losers and with this team already six out, I can't imagine anybody caring much about the White Sox, who as we all know, have a somewhat limited fan base to begin with. Even Ozzie won't garner much news. I think he's too embarrassed right now to give much to the press to work with.
  5. This might sound dumb, but do you think many fans will just give up after today? I mean, just totally forget about the White Sox? It's cliche, but the team is truly dead and missing in so many different areas. I mean us diehards will follow every game no matter what, but who would buy a ticket to see this joke of a team? I think Oz is gone soon if this continues. Reinsdorf can blame it on the payroll and how somebody had to be the fall guy. You can't just bank on the fact, "it's early." This team is ridiculously bad and dead. And we don't even know if we are ever going to close a game because we haven't had a save situation in so long. Q: Are the white sox soon to be old, forgotten news in Chicago until if/when they actually start winning??
  6. QUOTE (hawkubes @ Apr 23, 2011 -> 09:28 AM) Let's fire Ozzie and let's fire KW. I'm so sick and tired of this talk. Ozzie's a great manager (yes, he makes mistakes, who doesn't) the players want to play for him. Kenny Williams has made some great moves, i'm so tired of everybody talkin smack about KW's moves. He's doing everything he can to make the white sox a winner, and that's what they're gonna do. Let's go Sox :gosoxretro: I'm not sick of the negativity, just sick of this team's play so far. My god, what a horrible start for a supposed contender.
  7. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Apr 23, 2011 -> 03:37 AM) Seriously though, it's starting to feel like all of those Prior/Wood "simulated games" and "towel exercises" that we used to hear all about. Yes it reminds me exactly of that. Bhawk99 you are a little harsh I think. Nobody's ever questioned Peavy's 'want-to' in this matter. He can't help it if his arm has imploded at this stage of his life. I wouldn't call him a bum.
  8. Game Five was a thing of beauty. The Hawks just jumped them like a robber in a dark alley. It's rare a team can keep that up facing elimination three games in a row against a No. 1 seed. If the Hawks pull it off and force a Game 7, wow.
  9. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Apr 23, 2011 -> 03:30 AM) This is so f***ing lame. I thought this team was going to be dominant. Heaven forbid we ever have a hot start since 2006. I thought so, too. I thought it was going to be a great April after the first 3 series.
  10. QUOTE (since56 @ Apr 23, 2011 -> 03:25 AM) I knew Dunn struck out a lot but................OMG! It truly is amazing seeing him whiff so much. I would think the boo birds will be out soon if he doesn't start blasting some home runs. He's a big black hole in the lineup right now. He's got eight RBIs in 20 games. I'm not bagging on Omar, but I just knew he'd have an oh-fer tonight. All of a sudden we need Omar in the lineup. He's a once a week player on a good team.
  11. QUOTE (kwolf68 @ Apr 23, 2011 -> 03:05 AM) Trading for this guy was a joke...now all we're looking for is if the dude can play long toss or a simulated game. And when he does come back...how long until the next muscle pops out of joint. I can't imagine a scenario in which he becomes this dominant, injury-free stud ever again. Not his fault, he truly is a gamer and I like everything he's ever said to the media. I'd think he'll pitch his ass off next time he returns to the big leagues and prolly really seriously injure his arm and that'll be it for his career.
  12. I catch Grobber on the internet in the early am and love it.
  13. I'm starting to think this is all mental, playing hard, hard, hard, as well as the return of Bolly, of course. The problem is when you are down 3-0 and trying to come all the way back, can we keep the all-out intensity the next game(s)? This is what makes sports so exciting ... the possibility of coming back and winning this thing. Can we win this home game and bring it to Game Seven?? People on this thread seem more reasonable than the Sox boards, so tell me ... do you expect us to lose Game Six or win again?? I'm thinking Canucks win 4-1, with one goal an empty netter as we desperately try to prolong the series by pulling goalie with 2 mins left.
  14. QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Apr 23, 2011 -> 02:56 AM) At least the bullpen got the day off. Send Pena to the DL and bring up anyone withe a pulse. Beckham and Rios are killing this team as I Will give Dunn a learning curve to DH and a new league. Yuk on Dunn as well. Beckham shouldn't be this streaky. He needs to get his head out of his ass. He was great the first four or five games. I'm not a big Rios guy but he was starting to win me over last year.
  15. Mighty mighty Adam Dunn. He's so good it's scary.
  16. I'm losing interest early in this team and I am a die-hard. Just don't like what I've seen on mlb.com. Of course I didn't have mlb.com when we were 7-4. I bought it right after, lucky me. I just wonder what loyal ticket holders are thinking. I can't imagine many people "going out of their way" to attend a game if this keeps up. Lotsa goats on this team right now, no need to go through the list of current bums.
  17. Let's just face it. Sox aren't very good this year. Maybe it'll change. I don't see it.
  18. Didn't Beckham get off to a great start the first handful of games? Joe Torre once said when players are struggling, their confidence is shot and they can't buy a hit. When they are going great, after a certain period of time then get too anxious in the box and finally redevelop bad habits. The key is maintaining an even keel and many can't do it. That' why you fail 7 of 10 at bats and are still a good hitter if you do so.
  19. QUOTE (Paint it Black @ Apr 21, 2011 -> 04:22 AM) Man I can't wait when all the people on the ledge say they believed in this team all year. I'll never say that, because this team the past couple years has been so up and down you believe for a time, then don't. I can't stay blindly optimistic in this team. But if we somehow get good, I'll congratulate the team for the turnaround. I'm still waiting for the Sox to get their first late inning lead in about a week and a half. I truly think they'll blow it. Our next win will be like 9-3.
  20. That's the only reason for optimism.
  21. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Apr 21, 2011 -> 03:23 AM) I would normally agree with you. But I don't want to spot any team 10+ games. I don't care how early it is. The Sox look every bit as lifeless since those first two games in Cleveland that they did during last year's start. And I'm rather certain another 38-13 tear is not going to happen this time around. I can't believe people are not concerned. If we fall 10 games back, I don't care of what teams, it's going to take forever to make that up, no matter how well we play. Not all teams drop seven, eight, nine in a row. If any team that far ahead of Sox just goes 4-6 during its dry spell(s) it's impossible to catch up in six week span.
  22. QUOTE (Paint it Black @ Apr 21, 2011 -> 02:07 AM) Nothing. I stopped reading there. It's April. It's 7 games. They were going to lose 7 this year, it was just a matter of when. s***, we've got to be nearing one of the longest losing streaks in team history, April or not. It can't be too many more games than 10.
  23. I never thought we'd be this putrid offensively after scoring all those runs up to the point we were two over .500. I thought this would be the one year the offense would rake from start to finish.
  24. QUOTE (Paint it Black @ Apr 21, 2011 -> 02:00 AM) Firing the manager doesn't do anything to a group of veterans who know the game. I would maybe buy it if this team was full of rookies but they're not. If it worked everyone would do it all the time. It doesn't. Then what the hell do the Sox do? It's 7 in a row and counting in f***ing April. i wish some beat writer or radio guy would get Reinsdorf to do an interview NOW. Like fathom said he's got to be furious. I mean I'm usually the most patient fan and I'm furious. The guy spending the money to see Adam Dunn suck and everybody else suck has to be LIVID. Make Jerry talk. His team is putrid.
  25. QUOTE (Chet Kincaid @ Apr 21, 2011 -> 12:48 AM) Who do you want fired and how would it help the Sox? You think if Ryne Sanberg was standing in the spot Ozzie is standing right now, Rios, Beckham, Dunn and Pierre would start hitting? Do you think if Rick Hahn took over for Kenny Williams, Matt Thornton would become a top notch closer and Jake Peavy's arm/back/shoulder/adnoids would heal and he'd be able to pitch tomorrow and be an ace? Who should be fired because of Alexei working the count and hitting a weak pop up? You know what, I normally would be the one to post something like you just posted. But this is just unacceptable. I guess it has to be Ozzie who should get the boot after today's game. He's the easiest one to can and make a statement to these rich players who are playing like s***. We're not even in these games. If not, I'd settle for Ozzie completely going ballistic in the locker room; throwing over the food table, calling out the veterans. Something. Or Jerry Reinsdorf publicly ripping into the team. How the hell is this happening with our payroll? Seven in a row??
