White Sox (Humber) v. Yankees (Burnett) 6:05pm
greg775 replied to Reddy's topic in 2011 Season in Review
QUOTE (jeffro2525 @ Apr 25, 2011 -> 07:37 PM) Sox are gonna win 3 of 4...I have a good feeling about this series...I was dreading it all week last week. Now I suddenly have renewed optimism. I think the Sox head home at worst 10-16, 11-15. It would make no sense to win 3 of 4. The Yankees feast on teams playing as s***ty as the White Sox. -
QUOTE (gatnom @ Apr 25, 2011 -> 05:53 AM) What's most likely? He hits about 40 home runs with an OPS around 900. Man if he pulls that off after this start ...

QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Apr 25, 2011 -> 04:25 AM) I think all of Western Michigan heard me scream after Smith's goal. Lost my voice. Now I have to reschedule a final exam so I can watch game 7. Cool. Think they'll let you reschedule a final?

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 24, 2011 -> 10:12 PM) Tell me about it. I have premium club levels I couldn't sell for $10 on Stubhub last weekend. I'll never go that low again. QUOTE (oldsox @ Apr 25, 2011 -> 03:08 AM) I am not the type of fan who gets his nose out of joint because of a six game losing streak, but this franchise has done a U turn in the last couple of years that defies intelligent thought. It's going to be a tough road to reverse it, but some sort of shake up is required, Kenny. The moves of acquiring Rios, Peavy, and Dunn collectively are killers. The other bad moves are just window dressing. I don't know how Kenny survives, nor do I understand how the Chicago Press doesn't hang him out to dry. I'll be pulling for a win in NY, but I don't expect anything positive. That's my rant. No more negative posts from me. Man, how much do those tickets normally go for? Six game losing streak? How bout 10 of 11 with more heartbreak coming in NY?

Awesome victory. Crawford came of age in the OT. He did not deserve to lose that game and thanks to that great goal, he didn't lose it. Don't know what will happen in Game Seven, can only hope the Hawks remember Game Five. Their fans will turn on them if we can play like we did in Game Five, remember the boos at the end!! No matter what happens, what a story. Hawks didn't die. Wish our Sox would play with that kind of heart. And love you Crawford for that work in OT. Crawford was pumped and made some great saves.

QUOTE (ChrisLikesBaseball @ Apr 25, 2011 -> 01:20 AM) I'd hope I could find some rational thoughts on what's become a really reactive and irrational message board that sometimes shows signs of being an intelligent grouping of baseball knowledge. Then I'd realize that if there's a rough stretch, everyone wants someone fired, just so the team can keep doing the same thing, with a different over-paid, face in the locker room. I don't think it's so irrational. Most of us have never called for changes in the past. There's a difference between wanting somebody fired every season, or finally getting fed up with the dysfunctional play. This team is going to lose 3 or 4 in NY and look at what our record will be. Same ol pattern of not being able to beat Central teams as well, is continuing.. I mean ... s***.
-
Well, let's hope it doesn't start like the third period did. We need one of those lucky bounces you all were mentioning earlier. My naked eye tells me the Canucks are clearly the better team tonight. Can we sneak out a win somehow? If we can, they'd have that goalie situation going on entering Game 7. I don't feel confident; just don't about the OT. How do you guys feel?
-
That turnover was costly. Pretty damn good shot on goal. I don't blame our goalie on that one.
-
Damn that's a s***ty goal. 2-1. Vancouver is motivated.
-
You guys like what you see? Or is Vancouver skating well and too much on the attack for the Hawks to handle?
-
Yes baby!!!! Tied it up!!!!
-
Lousy start for the Hawks. Vancouver IMO is playing very well. We got to get this baby tied up soon.
-
Walker getting fired would be interesting, but I don't know if it would be effective enough. If anybody gets fired it should be Ozzie. And when Ozzie is replaced, Kenny should also be blasted publicly by Reinsdorf if he has the guts to go to the news conference.

QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Apr 24, 2011 -> 09:46 PM) I would tell Sale to pack his bags and move to Charlotte for the rest of the year. No sense continuing to hinder his progress while this ship is sinking. May as well try and salvage the future. Some decent ideas in here. I agree on Sale. Make him a starter in minors, now. I would see if Joe Torre is interested in managing the rest of the year and bring him aboard now, in time for the Yankee series. I fear the Sox can't afford to pay Torre what he'd need to return. He's got to be bored doing whatever he's doing now. If we can't get Torre, I'd start trading anybody who makes a big buck. Paulie, Mark, etc Normally I wouldn't be in favor of "rebuilding" but the Cell is going to be empty anyway after the Yankees have their way with us.
-
QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Apr 24, 2011 -> 10:59 PM) Bring in Lou Pinella or Joe Torre. I am serious. Torre is a great idea. I'd do it now. However, you know what? Sox will not pay him the money. No f***ing way. They won't pay Torre.

QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Apr 24, 2011 -> 07:42 PM) I didn't watch past the last out. Was Miggy being an idiot? I didn't see it either but he probably laughed at how easy that sweep was. White Sox love to hit those lazy lazy pop ups. What was it, 9-0 and 3-0 and the first game we got a couple runs?? The bullpen still hasn't had a chance to blow anything in 11 games or so. Wait til we finally have a lead in NY. -

QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Apr 24, 2011 -> 07:34 PM) Jamarcus Dunn with another rough day at the plate. Forget the Dodgers, Selig should take over the White Sox. Because this s*** is disgraceful and detrimental to the game. The Yankees must be licking their chops. Have you ever seen the Sox enter a series in which it's guaranteed they lose 3, probably all four? Oh wait, Tampa Bay this week. -

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 24, 2011 -> 07:31 PM) Ummm....Mark Teahen and Juan Pierre say hello. Probably AJ Pierzynski as well. You might be able to dump Buehrle's contract for nothing in return. I don't think Konerko's going to be moveable without sending a financial subsidy along in return. Just depends on a contending team having an injury there....but even with an injury, taking an aging 1B at this stage in his career is a big risk for any organization because of the multi-year implications down the line. Teams can start dumping contracts in a hurry and suddenly have one of the lowest payrolls in baseball. I would think the Sox will do that. The Cell is going to be empty anyway. Probably the first thing they should do is dump Dunn, but with our luck the minute we do he'll hit about 20 homers in 20 days. -
I'm pinning this loss on the pathetic losers and coaches on this team. Wow.
-
If you are sick of the negativity, get ready for apathy. This kind of record and the team is heading to New York to lose a minimum of 3, possibly four more?? Wow this team has done what is impossible to do. Be irrelevant in one month.

QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Apr 24, 2011 -> 07:23 PM) Your 2011 White Sox. Worst record in baseball! And heading to NY for four. Wow. -

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 24, 2011 -> 07:22 PM) Keep a couple details in mind...the Chairman probably made $20 million last year with a struggling team, and he basically committed that $20 million to the roster this year. If the attendance figures come in similar, he's at break even. If there's a drop in attendance, that'll push him towards losing money...but there's also a possibility that there may be insurance dollars coming in again if the Sox hold a policy on Peavy, which has been rumored ever since we traded for him. Those insurance companies must be in the habit of just giving out money insuring baseball pitchers. -

QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Apr 24, 2011 -> 07:21 PM) 1-10 our past 11 games. LOL. That's pretty hard to do, actually. Exactly. What are they going to say if they lose 4 in NY? One of the worst stretches in modern team history with this payroll? Wow. -

I don't see how the Sox will turn this thing around in NY. This sure looks like a team that just flat gave up after the stretch of horrible relief outings. 4 games in NY? We win one if we're lucky. I mean cmon. -

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 24, 2011 -> 07:10 PM) Then they're going to have to start charging $50 for upper deck tickets or they won't ever be able to afford him. Danks simply isn't the kind of player who puts fannies in the seats like a Braun or Fielder. Or an Adam Dunn. Oh wait.
