QUOTE (bucket-of-suck @ Apr 30, 2011 -> 09:45 AM) This thread is ridiculous. There are more than 5 months left in the season! Why do some people always revert back to this? I'm saying the team is on life support right now and sticking by it.
-
Finally some good news. Maybe Peavy will give the team a spark when he returns. Hopefuly the team won't be 15 back by then.
-
But Marty, you didn't think the starting pitching would be great? "On paper" it again looked dominant. And the addition of Crain gave the Sox "on paper" a damn good bullpen. And adding Dunn gave the Sox a ton of pop in the lineup. Add to that Morel looking great at the end of the year and an emerging young combo of Beckham and Alexei, how did you know this team would suck??
-
The White Sox, after another horrid home loss, are nine back in the loss column. At what point do you start to worry that the team has dug too deep a hole to possibly climb out? 10, 11, 12, 13? I mean I think this team is already on life support.

GAME THREAD: Orioles @ Sox, 4/29, 7:10pm
greg775 replied to NorthSideSox72's topic in 2011 Season in Review
Six hits and awful pitching. That's the way to win games. Another home loss. Now the Orioles get to feast on the Sox. Good luck selling tickets, Sox. -
QUOTE (Marty34 @ Apr 30, 2011 -> 04:30 AM) Love this board and I take no pleasure in being right predicting this as a mediocre team (at best) during this offseason, but what were optimists thinking? How did you know? I fell for the hype after signing of Dunn and Crain. Team is really really putrid.
-
If the crowd gets liquored up tonight and this homestand, it might be Dunn who starts getting many of the boos.
-
Edwin Jackson should be our closer and Sergio our main set up guy with Thornton. Sale should be in the minors starting.

GAME THREAD: Orioles @ Sox, 4/29, 7:10pm

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Apr 29, 2011 -> 05:40 PM) With current ticket and parking prices, the payroll, and the way they're playing...I'd have no problem booing if they started out poorly again. Oh yes, they'll boo them off the field if they lose again tonight. I just wish the team would abide by the cliche and take them one game at a time. It seems like we just go out and lose, lose, lose and drop games in bunches. What are we, eight out? This is getting so ugly so early. I don't care if it's Cleveland. We fall 10 back heading into that 9 game road trip? The season will be over in mid May. -
QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Apr 28, 2011 -> 10:32 PM) And soon, the Indians will find themselves in the same spot. However, I don't see the Royals falling way below .500 I don't know. I like the Indians a lot better than the Royals, who play hard, but unfortunately for this city, have no starting pitching. KC fans are hoping home will cure what ails the Royals. It definitley was a rotten road trip for the boys in Blue.

QUOTE (hi8is @ Apr 28, 2011 -> 08:38 AM) you're quickly going to the "waaaa waaaa waaaa" crew. I don't know how you can not blast this team for its play so far. There's really nothing positive to say, so it's either b**** a bit or just shut up. I notice there aren't many threads on here, so many have just shut up. I'd rather rip Dunn, Rios, Beckham, AJ, Jackson, the entire bullpen except Sergio cause it makes me feel better. I'd give the Sox performance in April an F. There's really no other possible grade, except F.
-
Oh boy, nine hits tonight. Dunn is really a special talent. As is Rios. And excellent pitching. A 2-2 split in that series was a minor miracle thanks to the miraculous catches by Lillibridge. Boos are in order when the team returns to the Cell. Piss poor road trip.
-
Sox may or may not do well tonight, but that lineup should be one of the weakest CC faces all season wouldn't you think?
-
4 hits, no runs. Sox lose 6-0.

QUOTE (since56 @ Apr 28, 2011 -> 12:55 PM) How much longer until Morel and Beckham are starting at Charlotte? Vizquel and Teahen should play more. Pierre and Vizquel should bat one two. I wish it wasn't this way but I have seen about enough of Beckham and Morel is not MLB ready yet if ever. If A.J. grounds out to the first or second baseman again I'm am going to...........well something. Yuk on Pierre/Omar 1-2. Teahen should never play more. Beckham has to start hitting for this lineup to be successful. Sending him down or benching him would be dumb. AJ is no longer a good hitter; I think we just have to face that.

White Sox (Buehrle) v. Yankees (Tub O' Goo)

QUOTE (Thad Bosley @ Apr 28, 2011 -> 06:21 AM) Stop it. They are no luckier to be 2-1 in this series than the Yankees are to be only 1-2. D'ain't hittin', either - at least these last three games! I don't get why some of you are so patient. I look at the standings and want to vomit. I look at our box scores the last 15 games or so and want to vomit. -
At 10-15 you'd think there still would be a guy to take the fall somewhere. This team has had a horrendous month with the bats resembling brittle, rotten wood.
-
Dunn has to start hitting some bombs. His performance has been a factor in the Sox being a pathetic last place team so far with an offense about as exciting as Princeton's in basketball back in the day.
-
10-15, last place in the division, seven back in the loss column, the mighty white sox had a helluva April. What a joke. 15 losses already. Pathetic effort from this punchless team.
-
Beckham's up for good. His minor league days are done. It's sink or swim up here. He's been streaky so far with the Sox. He'll certainly get hot again. Though streaky hitters appear to be the Sox norm on Team Inconsistency.

Dare I say Sox are lucky to be 2-1 in this series, mighty lucky? Team.Can't.Hit. -
QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Apr 27, 2011 -> 02:07 PM) The morning after... not nearly as devastated. We got some AMAZING moments in a series that looked to be over a week ago. The Blackhawks fought and didn't go out like b****es and reminded the Canucks that we're still the Champs for another month or so. I can't be disappointed after being treated to one of the best hockey games I've ever watched. Our table launched at BWW when Tazer tied it up. That is one of the greatest moments I've ever seen in a hockey game, and I've seen a lot... complete jubilation. The game REALLY reminded me of the Gold Medal Game in the Olympics last year. Great post. Losing sucks but it was a great game. Just think if the hawks could have scored on that OT power play. There was a legitimate chance to win it right there. What electricity there would have been for the next series.

QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Apr 27, 2011 -> 02:48 PM) I have always been a Lillibridge fan. The guy gives it his all every game he plays. You have to love it when people in the position Lilli is in, and others too, suceed. I am real happy for Lilli and the team. QUOTE (bmags @ Apr 27, 2011 -> 04:29 PM) Last june when he was hitting bombs left and right he earned a spot in my heart. He lost it in september, but that june was fun. I don't know why people act like Lillibridge has never contributed anything. Like you said, he had some highlights last year as well. There always has to be a whipping boy. Some people actually wanted Milledge to stay as last man on the team when it was apparent a Little Leaguer could track a fly ball better than he can.
-
QUOTE (iamshack @ Apr 27, 2011 -> 06:19 AM) He'll be fine. He's gone through these stretches before. Now that the bullpen has stabilized a bit, I suspect he'll have a chance to get a few low-leverage opportunities and get some of his confidence back. I don't want to be a Debbie Downer, but if Lilly doesn't bring the leather, we're all despondent about our closer situation right now. To you folks who called Lillibridge (sp) worthless ... he proved tonight he's not worthless. He single-handedly saved that game.

White Sox (Floyd) v. Yankees (Nova) 6:05pm

QUOTE (iamshack @ Apr 27, 2011 -> 05:34 AM) Hah, Greg, you crack me up. Great, but you have to admit all managers play for the tie in that situation. You bunt like the Yankees did.
