  1. I've been against this idea all the way, but I'm getting close to the point I don't want to think about Gordon Beckham for a while. If we had ANYBODY halfway decent I might agree, but I dunno if I want to see Omar out there every day or Nix/Omar at 2B when Teahen comes back. But I understand where you all are coming from finally. It's simply depressing to watch him bat and make out after out. And that bunt try was horrid. He had to be on his own there, I'd think. I don't know about the unwritten rules of baseball, but him getting a bunt single might have been a horses*** move there. I'm not mad at Beckham for that, just sad at his overall horse-s***tiness.
  2. Exactly. Aside from the fact I no longer hate Juan Pierre, that game was ultimately disappointing. I mean what a pathetic display. Didn't we have second and third nobody out? Or was it one out? Either way, my god. We had a struggling Cub team defeated right there. Marmol may be good, but Jeez. Lexi was horrid. Paulie couldn't get it out of the infield and it was obvious Quentin would pop up if he hit the ball. I told the people here, "Game over, pop up coming. He won't hit it out in the rain and it's all or nothing with him." Weak ass CQ pop up. Disgraceful performance. We are going nowhere, but we already knew that. My hat is off to Juan, however, for actually sroking a single to center. He's the only guy in that order who had a chance of getting a hit in the ninth inning. OK, maybe Paulie. He's stroked singles to center before. I agree it's time for a scapegoat for our offense. Don't know who is the goat, I'd be open to suggestions (Walker?) but somebody has to take the fall for this pathetic offense. Did I say I love Juan Pierre? Well, I do now.
  3. I just completely disagree with that line of thinking. I really do.
  4. For the record ... I will never utter a bad word about Juan Pierre again. Welcome to the team, Juan. You are da man.
  5. If we get no hit ... I will be speechless. I mean WTF. We'd won four in a row and the pop up syndrome returns against the Cubs. Wow.
  6. It would be emblematic of our season. We win the series but get embarrassed by a no no on the Sunday game of the week by Lilly.
  7. Pierre sucks but he gives us an option of some weak-ass hit at least. Kotsay might find a hole with a grounder if he doesn't pop up.
  8. Well we know damn well we ain't gonna get a hit with our uppercut swings. We're doomed to face this bitter embarassment unless somebody tries to hit a f***ing line drive single to the opp. field me thinks.
  9. With out hit it up in the air mentality, looks like a no no.
  10. Amen. He pitched well again and many don't want to give him props because he gave up a run in a huge pressure situation when the base hit was a flair and he got hosed on the walk. I suspect many don't like him cause he's fat and rich, but that's just my theory.
  11. How bout Bill James himself? He's not that old.
  12. The voice of reason. I like it. How can anybody argue with this post? This makes the most sense to me.
  13. This might sound dumb because baseball is a long grind, but doesn't it seem like the Sox are playing playoff intensity baseball against the Cub? And guess what? We play well and win. Do the Sox play "hard" every night, especially against the lowlife Indians and Royals? I'm just wondering if the nights we sleepwalk and suck has something to do with mental frame of mind. Or is it just that we are a mediocre team? I hate to use the "playing hard" analogy but to me it seems these Cub games have been intense and we've played well as a result. Is playing hard a misnomer or only appropriate to football and basketball?
  14. Good, long post, Kenny Hates Prospects. I read it.
  15. Exactly. There's no way any Sox fan should be mad at anything Peavy said there. His answer is A-plus on all counts.
  16. Amen. The starters are finally doing well. As far as Jenks, I can't wait for the day he actually blows a save. There will be such an epic meltdown. The anger will be melting computers everywhere. Why can't the Jenks haters at least give the man credit when he does his job? There was nothing wrong with that ninth inning except for the walk he gave up in the rain. You people that want perfection must be great employees. Your companies are lucky to have perfect people. I pray you guys get your wish and we trade him. You will see thornton and/or Putz blow their share of saves as well. it's the nature of the closer role. Why fat Bobby brings out the hate in everybody when he coninues on a remarkable career baffles me.
  17. You haters are f***ing insane. He didn't get hit hard. he did the job ... again. Putz also gave up a double. What the f*** with the Jenks hate??? Give me a break already. It was a competitive game and inning and he got the save!!!!!
  18. He had a two-run lead to work with. He didn't get hit hard. He got the save ... again. He is da man.
  19. That's like saying the word 7 at the craps table. Somebody will punch you unless it's on the come out roll.
  20. Yikes. As far as jinxes, this might classify as something to jinx the ninth as well as my Putz line.
  21. Putz did well. Now it's up to Bobby to do well again and not cause an all time implosion. Nice job Putz.
  22. f*** no. I want to win. I got nothing against him. I just haven't seen much of him yet.
  23. I finally get to see many of your hero's pitch. Putz.
  24. That doesn't bode well. The roof gonna cave in the 8th and 9th?
