Ted Williams's Cryogenically Frozen head beaten with monkey wrench
Lol. That has to be the wildest story in the history of American sports. Ted Williams ... the icon. If you'd told Ted Williams 25 years ago that this would happen to his body upon his death he'd look at you like you were a kook.

2009: A Big Step To Our Next World Series
I can't believe you are pinning this on Jenks. The set up men were way bigger goats than Jenks. And the hitting was horribly non clutch at times, especially on that road trip from hell and the killer 6 games vs. the O's and Royals at home preceding that series. The hitting definitely deserves more criticism than Bobby. Also, the defense deserves way more negativity than Bobby. And even my man Jermaine ...he's a bigger goat than Bobby.

10/3 Sox @ Det 6:05pm CSN
Can you believe how good Freddy has been? Man. The Twins simply have to beat the Royals. They've come this far they have to win. I mean the odds of us beating Verlander are not good. Granted, Minny beat Greinke today and anything is possible, but to come this far, Minny simply has to beat the Royals at home to assure the playoff. And this time they get the playoff in the dome. I sense anything could happen tomorrow, but I'm thinking we lose to Verlander just because he's having a great year and the game means so much. I'm thinking the Twins lose as well and Detroit takes it w/out a playoff. I don't think KC's gonna get swept and I don't think we're gonna sweep the Tigers. Go TWINKS.

trading buehrle
The teams in this division that blow certainly play us tough the past couple seasons. We need to start consistently winning series against Central teams before I'd say we're ready to dominate the division just because we have the best starting rotation.
-
Rogers suggests trading for Fielder
Why would he do that? If he reads these boards (and that's a big if) and gets ideas, more power to him.
-
Cowley and his Takes on the Sox
Why is he a hack? He provides great information and judging from his opinionated twitters, seems to enjoy what he does. Puts some life into his writing. I think his stuff is good. If he's critical ... who isn't in talking about the Sox? Most of us on here rip certain players/coaches.

2009: A Big Step To Our Next World Series
True, Bolt, but with all the veterans we have on the team and the addition of Rios with plenty of time left in the season, with Peavy ready to lead us to some important Sept. victories and anchor the postseason rotation we should have won this horses*** division. I don't think the season was a success.

LMAO@this article
Seems like a very dumb reason to take a guy in the first round.
-
2009: A Big Step To Our Next World Series
Saying this season was a success is ridiculous. I won't go through all the holes in our team that must be filled to even win our crappy division next season. You all konw them. We finished third in a horses*** division. It was not a successful season. We had one winning surge to speak of ... one the entire mediocre season.

how about konerko to the giants for
Konerko has pretty good numbers in homers and ribbies. I don't know why they'd "laugh in his face." Unless you are assuming he's over the hill at his age. He's had a f***ing good season, one of our few bright spots during a s***ty year.
-
LMAO@this article
Then why did they take him in the first round? To fool other teams into wanting him in a trade?
-
trading buehrle
I think his trade value is just fine. But we'd be dumb to deal him. He's very popular.
-
LMAO@this article
It's easy to laugh now. Kenny thought Owens and Fields could play and Broadway could pitch, etc.
-
how about konerko to the giants for
Why wouldn't we sign him? He's past the stages of getting an incredible deal.

Alex Rios
Fair enough. I just thought 30/30 was asking for a lot from him. Maybe he needs to work on the mental approach this winter if he has all the physical tools. Even though he's rich and set for life financially, if he wants to be a special player in White Sox lore, he's going to have to improve ... and fast. I'm sure our pitchers will like the face he's out there chasing down deep drives. We all know he can field.
-
Cowley and his Takes on the Sox
I don't know why you guys hate Cowley so much. Maybe it's his critical comments and jokes at the Sox expense on Twitter. But we're just as critical of the Sox on here as he is. Maybe moreso. I think he's good. I like reading him and he's informative.

Cowley and his Takes on the Sox
I won't take the bait. I'll just say I consider Richard a good prospect and I'm sure the Padres consider him one as well. I am damn glad we have the stud Peavy. It's OK I guess we didn't "steal" him. I just liked everything about Richard, especially the way he was copying Buehrle. If he keeps pitching like this, and one or two of the others pan out, I'm sure the Pods will be happy with the trade since they wanted to dump Jake for money reasons.

Sox vs. Tigers, Peavy vs. Jackson 10/2/09 6:05pm CSN/ESPN/MLB
I don't share that sentiment. I prefer Detroit or the Twins to beat the Yankees. Why would you root against our division? Just curious. I think it'd be funny to see the Yankees go down. Their owner would implode and all their fans. Go Twinks/Tigers.

Alex Rios
Can people who want people like me to quit beating a dead horse and writing the same negative opinion of Rios over and over please please stop tempting people like me with posts like the above? Can we all just agree we hope Rios will turn it around next year? You all get the fact I've been down on Rios; I get the message that some of you really like him.

Cowley and his Takes on the Sox
Little surprised in all the Peavy love he didn't mention Clayton Richard ihas a 1.88 ERA over his last four starts, held the Dodgers to one hit over seven innings in his last start and has allowed 15 hits in his last 24 innings. Richard is 5-2 with a 4.08 ERA and the Padres are 9-3 in his starts. That deal couldn't have been made w/out including Richard? Yes I love Peavy. Yes I'm a Richard fan. Yes I realize 10 posters are now going to shrug off Richard as a prospect because he put up these numbers "in the National League."

2009 MLB Catch-All Thread
If Detroit does make it, I sure hope Verlander gets to start Game One and not the game on Sunday. That would really really make the playoff series interesting. You win Game One behind Verlander and steal Game Two a few hours later (assuming it's night game, then day game in games one and two) and before you know it ... upset city!!

2009 AL Central Thread
Would like to see the Sox help out and beat Detroit. I'd feel pretty good if I was Leyland, though. That split vs. Minnesota wasn't bad at all for Detroit. Detroit averted disaster, though admittedly all of Motor City wishes the Tigers had wrapped it up at home today.
-
Alex Rios
we also might have won without a horrible bullpen and bad hitting attack and bad baserunning. Let's face it, there were plenty of reasons we had the record we did.
-
Alex Rios
He deserves a D for what he did in Chicago this year offensively. As far as next year? He deserves a clean slate to start next season. At least we've heard nothing about him having a bad attitude or being lazy so far. That's a good sign. Hopefully he'll have a good spring, impressing Oz and Kenny and not stagger into the season with no confidence. He's making a lot of money and will need to produce or he'll likely be the target of boo birds. Hopefully at the plate he won't resemble the guy we saw make out after out this year.

White Sox Parking- Is my math correct?
I feel for you guys who weren't around at Old Comiskey when parking and ticket prices were cheap. Steinbrenner ruined it for all fans. Used to be baseball was really affordable before he decided to try to sign all good players (and some mediocre ones) at whatever the cost.
