Lillibridge actually got one hit so they probably see that as progress and will keep playing him. Yikes. Your suggestion is as good as any. Might as well go down fighting with Pods and AJ at 1 and 2.
-
Well we have to have somebody be the fifth starter. It can't be Jose any longer obviously. Richard will be the next sacrificial lamb to start.
-
We looked great last night, then this? Oz needs to implode again. Was Harrison that good? Even AJP who has been hot, didn't get a hit. Is it possible this guy simply deserves credit?
-
Thome's having the kind of year Paulie had last year. He needs to get his head out of his ass. He's too good for this. It's got to be getting embarrassing for a guy like Big Jim to suck this badly. Carlos Quentin? What's wrong with the big bopper? He is sucking madly.
-
I don't want a youth movement like the Royals' last one. They sucked for what, 15-20 years before appearing to have a good team this year.
-
Four hits off Harrison at home? My god. This is going to be a different kind of year. Lillibridge actually got a hit? What's the record for most at bats in the big leagues without an RBI. I think he's at 49 at bats or 50 now.

Hot, cold, hot cold. We're gonna get shut out again??
-
Will Jose be released or sent down? Or DL'd?
-
Surely our team will get booed tonight.

Can somebody give me the link to chat again?

Just saw Jose's line on yahoo. I'm sure it's already been discussed on the thread ... bye bye Jose. You have to go down to the minors for a month or so. This is brutal. Is he going to be 0-5????

He should have put the ball in play the other night with the man on third against KC. I don't understand why a guy as powerful as Jimmy doens't hit to all fields enough that teams wouldn't put that shift on. A lot of people say 1/3 of his homers go to left, blah blah. Then why is there a shift if he's so effective going to all fields?

GM Ken Williams criticizes pitchers for not protecting hitters
greg775 replied to Wanne's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Too bad our pitchers are such pussies Kenny had to take it to the media to get it done. Now we will see suspensions/fights when we finally do plunk some hitters. -
The thing you have to love about him, among other things, is his approach. Why all pitchers don't get the ball and deliver it as quickly as he does is beyond comprehension. It's the way to pitch. Even if you are getting rocked, it seems to me, getting it and delivering it, is the way to go, not delaying delivery forever.

Don't want to take a win for granted. Man, Nix with the nice job at ss and the homer. AJP with a homer; Paulie continuing to hit well this season. We score six runs despite oh-fers from Thome, Quentin, Fields and Pods.

Although it's early, Buehrle getting the Cy Young
greg775 replied to wilmot825's topic in Pale Hose Talk
All Star berth, possible. Cy Young, nope. But you have to admire Mark which I'm sure everybody on here does. He's a mighty popular stud pitcher. -
We shouldn't have given away game two of the series the other night. That was disappointing. They are on a roll right now. It's Zack-mania in KC.
-
What's going on there? Have they figured out why so many HRs? It's got to be a concern.

Ozzie with his usual empty threats after loss like this
greg775 replied to caulfield12's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I think that is the best thing I've read about the matter. I don't want to see Lexi out more than a game or two, because we don't have decent big league players waiting in the wings. Nix is not going to be the answer at ss. He just isn't. -
Ozzie with his usual empty threats after loss like this
greg775 replied to caulfield12's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Here's the AP story. Oz trying to light a fire under Alexei. Hope he isn't out of the lineup more than 2 days. I personally don't think Nix is the answer. CHICAGO (AP) — Alexei Ramirez got the night off Wednesday, and he can expect to rest on Thursday, too. The Chicago White Sox’s game against the Detroit Tigers was postponed because of rain Wednesday night. The game was called after a delay of 1 hour, 13 minutes. A makeup date wasn’t announced. White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen was planning to give his struggling shortstop the night off. Ramirez, a spark plug for the 2008 AL Central Division winners, is off to a slow start that has Guillen worried. Ramirez is hitting .211 with one homer, after hitting .290 with 21 home runs last year and finished behind Tampa Bay’s Evan Longoria for AL Rookie of the Year. He will likely be out of Thursday’s lineup against the Tigers. “I always tell my players, give yourself a chance. Get good at-bats. But when you see one at-bat after another, after another, after another, and no results, no adjustments — we talked to Alexei a few times,” Guillen said. “I don’t mind 0 for 4. I don’t mind struggles. I don’t mind being in a slump. But how are you in a slump? How do you do something about it? I need some offense, and that’s the reason we’re going to put (Jayson) Nix back there. Because I need the offense.” Guillen is not going to wait for Ramirez to get going since his club has lost four straight.Nix is 3 for 7 after being activated from a rehab assignment in Triple-A Charlotte. “There’s one thing about Nix. I never fall in love with any players until they show me they can play in the big leagues. But he’s got three games, two games, and every at-bat this kid fights. He might not get a hit, but he will fight. And we’ll see what happens. I’m not saying the Missile is going to be on the bench for the rest of the season, but I’ve got to send a notice,” said Guillen, who did not talk to Ramirez on Wednesday. -
OOps, thanks for the clarification. That's interesting stuff on how he liked Walker. I personally don't think hitting coaches matter that much, but I guess that's open to debate. Also a good DeLuca take on the situation. http://www.suntimes.com/sports/deluca/1562...eluca07.article

I just think it's dumb when there's a runner on third in a tie game and the shift is on in the late innings that he doesn't consider just making contact with the ball and slapping it to the left side. There's one infielder between third and second base and it's a tie game with a runner on third where if we score we win. I know what he is is a HR guy, but I don't quite understand why in that case you wouldn't just hit it that way and win the game. I guess that's why he gets paid the big bucks and I'm just a second guesser.

If Rowand hated him so much, why did he take his calls in 2006 when he was with a different team? Did he have a Zen-like trance over Aaron?

All I can say is I disagree. The Broadway I was watching had me not believing what I was seeing. It looked like soft slop, so unusually bad I thought I'd start its own thread.

Where is the nightly we suck after we lost thread?
greg775 replied to qwerty's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Things were looking good last night after both Fields and Dye homered. The starting pitching and relief corps is what let the Royals get back in the game. It's easy to say get rid of the big bopper lineup but it often serves us well. I don't know why we can't get a sacrifice fly in a crucial situation, though. That is maddening and most of these hitters know how to loft the ball in the air.
