AND THAT'S A WHITE SOX WINNER!!!
Nice win. Clayton looked great on my TV. Good to excellent fastball at times and he baffled their lefties nicely. He pitched well IMO. And Lexi at least for that one at bat raked that pitch into the seats making me hopeful he's really gonna heat up just as he did last year. I will say in watching the game, I'm sort of amazed we didn't knock out that starter. Some of those pitches we take at the plate were screaming, hit me. I swear a lot of pitches our guys took were as meaty as the one Dye deposited late. Nice win. And for those of us praying we are contenders, Detroit lost.

Peavy Rejects Sox Offer; Deal Now Dead
Not sure if you meant to bash Clayton with this post. I don't care who he's facing it was a very nice outing. Obviously he should be given more chances to start, especially with our rotation somewhat of a mess on the back end. His fastball on TV looked good to excellent at times and he did a nice job against the Bucs' lefties. I'd rather see him out there than Colon. As far as those saying it'd be nice to face the Bucs 19 times like the Cubs do ... we've had a similarly bad team in our division for years in the Royals and we don't always maul them. I give Clayton much credit for tonight. I could give a f*** who we were playing. Nice job.

How Important Is a Sweep of the Bucs?
The key to that sentence is being 6.5 games behind. By falling behind that much, with the Angels next, you risk being 10 out soon and if you are 10 out, forget it. The Sox need to sweep this series and take five of six on a relatively easy homestand.

Who do you root for tomorrow night?
Of course. Why would he jeopardize that? It's always about the money. Also, you ever been to San Diego? It's probably the nicest place to live in the country. If he has a no trade clause to certain teams, you have to sweeten the deal if you hope to get him.

Sox vs Pirates, 5/22/09, 7:11 PM
Good win. Hopefully Floyd will build off this performance. Unfortunately Detroit is red hot and we can't afford to play s***ty baseball any more. If we drop to 10 back in the next week or so, it's OVA.

We have a turkey on this team!
I've been out of town. Did Sox release Gobble yet? It says a lot of negative things about our franchise that we continue to go to Royals rejects. It's embarrassing.

"He's Next"
If that's true, that doesn't say mucha bout Fields. You earn your way onto the field. When you get the opportunity you make the most of it. If Fields is that fragile, f*** him. He can rot in the minors some more.

Quentin Hurt
Quentin's crumminess is killing this team. He can carry a team. Our lineup on paper is not that bad when you pencil in last year's CQ and Lexi. What is our record in the games CQ has had what could be considered a strong game this year? Lexi and CQ had to hit to make up for the inconsistencies of our big boppers. And thanks for nothing to Fields, who has really stepped up when given the job. CQ isn't healthy, maybe that's the reason for his crumminess.

Thing is, if Walker works as hard as Oz says, working all day with these guys, he's probably pretty well liked by all. It might be tough to axe him as the fall guy. You are right, the players never get blamed. The best thing I guess now is reinsert Anderson and play him every game once he's back. I don't know what they can do with so many players strugglng at the plate. I'd be tempted to say send Alexeii and Floyd down a month, but Nix, Gets, Fields, Lilly et. all are so bad. I hate to say there may be no solutions except firing Oz for shock value and that won't happen.

You know you have a s***ty team when you assume you will get swept in a four game series. I think most of us figured this would happen. Something's gotta change. They better win five of six or all six on the homestand after this sweep, cause the Angles will sweep their ass.

Did anybody envision Lexi being this bad this April and May? Yes I know he started slowly last year but cmon.

There usually does need to be a scapegoat. If we suck vs. the Twins and Pirates at home and are 10 below .500 or something, most baseball teams would probably find a scapegoat somewhere. Usually it's the skipper but like somebody pointed out, Oz's resume looks to be too good to make him that.

Paulie really fixed what was ailing him. If KW trades him soon, I hope he robs some team. We need help and Paulie looks like he's got it figured out this year.

Will attendance take a hit this year or have the Sox sold so many season tix they'll be fine attendance wise?

Last year was a good, successful year. How can anybody argue that? I can see what they were trying to do this year, mix high paid vets with low paid young talent. The young talent can't hit and in the case of Floyd, pitch, while the vets haven't been miserable but are not producing a lot of runs.

So suddenly Gavin Floyd stinks and we have two good starters. Our third best is Bartolo Colon. Many of you knew Gavin was a fluke. Our scouts and baseball people thought he was good enough to reward monetarily. Lexi is hitting .212, Fields .231, Miller .214 and Lilly .164. Quentin is hurt and may keep getting hurt because opposing pitchers plunk him constantly. Getz is down to .240. We can't come close to beating a real team like Toronto. It's gonna be a long summer.

White Sox @ Blue Jays 12:07pm WGNHD
Not necessarily. Depends on who the younger players are. If their names are Lillibridge, Nix, Fields, maybe not. I live in Kansas City. The young players here the last 10 years have not been so fun to watch.

I'm not baseball retarded. I have a different opinion from you. You don't know anything about my knowledge of the game of baseball excapt apparently I don't agree with you. I know the game of baseball. I'd call you a name in response to you calling me retarded, but I don't want to get banned. Some people are in love of the unknown, the draft, in which there are NO GUARANTEES. I prefer to win every f***ing game my team plays. If I still lived in Chicago and had season tickets, I'd be pissed as hell if the games in September were tanked for some unknown draft pick.

Question for Greg Walker haters...
If the Sox want to change hitting coaches that'd be fine with me. It'd also be fine if they keep him. I blame the hitters, not the coach. This has nothing to do with Walker, but our hitters ... Once again watching another game tonight I see several Royals and Oriole hitters whacking hits to the opposite field. It's something I'm not used to seeing when I see the Sox on TV. I can't believe so many players feel they need to pull everything. s***, Jose Guillen goes to right field and dribbles a two run single through a big hole between first and second, one our big boppers would not be willing to do. What a concept, hit the ball through a hole with two strikes. Ozzie's response via mlb.com A lot of people blame Greg Walker," Guillen said. "But this guy is in here every day, 12 o'clock, 1 o'clock, working with those guys. The last thing Walker is doing is being in this clubhouse. He's out there working with the players, giving them information -- out there trying to figure it out." Many questions have arisen from the fact that the White Sox have combined to hit just .230 while averaging 3.2 runs over their past 12 games. But Guillen was adamant that Walker should not be included in those questions. "We just don't get it done," Guillen said. "Don't blame Walk. All the fans out there, if they know about hitting, don't blame Walk. If they're going to blame Walk, then blame me for giving Walk the job. "Greg Walker works his tail off every day to get those guys better."

Sox @ Jays 5-15
Since you brought it up, I'll bite. I want to win as many games as possible. I don't like to see my team lose. Period. Yes I would rather win meaningless games in September and August than lose them in hopes of lightning in a great draft pick bottle. There are no guarantees in the draft. If I had season tickets and went to a batch of games, I'd be royally pissed if the Sox were pissing away games in the hope of improving the draft stock several spots. I'm not saying "I'm a real fan!" I'm saying personally I want to win every f***ing game. Sorry.

The 5 Steps of Soxtalk's grief status
I know you didn't mean it that way, but those five stages of somebody dying were really sad. Man, sad stuff. As far as the Sox ... I just don't feel it. Maybe the team will heat up after the Jays kick our ass all weekend. I can't imagine us winning more than one game this series. Probably will get swept.
-
Sox @ Jays 5-15
Wow, we hit two homers and still got blown out. Usually we win when we hit some deep ones. Danks gets lit up ... this team is scary bad right now. If we win a game this series, I'll be very surprised.

San Diego needs a SS...
Lot of stuff in your post. Lilly has not been a f***ing bench player as you put it. He's been playing a lot of baseball and making a ton of outs. He's hit worse than most pitchers would given as many at bats. We could direct our anger at Oz for playing him or KW, but at some point you get sick of seeing Lilly out there since he is the one with the bat in his hands. Forgive me for not wanting to watch him ever bat again. Yes there will be b****ing about our other players who should not be on a ML roster. You've got to admit we have some very bad fringe baseball players on this team. Right now I'd settle for Lexi and Fields start to prove they are studs, not duds. And Quentin start being Quentin. We've received a break. We could be a ton of games out if we were in the Jays' division. It's time to start playing baseball and not get shut out on a fairly regular basis.

Question for Greg Walker haters...
I'd love to see a candid interview with Oz on what exactly a pitching coach does and how much he used on in his career. Ozzie was a free swinger who I would think used a hitting coach to toss him pitches for extra hitting and that's it. Why do people think players listen to hitting coaches?? You think Ortiz is listening to a hitting coach despite the fact he's yet to hit a home run this year?? Why do people put so much emphasis on hitting coaches?? It's a tired cliche to blame the hitting coach or the pitching coach. I would think if any hitting coach deserves credit or blame it's the one who gets these guys when they are right out of high school/college in rookie ball.

San Diego needs a SS...
Why in the hell would San Diego want a guy who can't hit better than Carlos Zambrano, Gary Peters, Bob Gibson. Why would they want a guy who is one of the worst hitters in baseball, maybe THE worst until he fixes his horrible approach/swing?
