  1. I know Colon has been OK this year, but wouldn't you rather try Whisler? Bartolo's line today was pretty ordinary to bad against a bad A's team.
  2. That is horrible behavior. Clowns on the f***ing phone. It amazes me at minor league games how many people have their backs to the action while they visit in a picnic-like setting. Somebody's gonna get killed by a foul ball to the back of the head. Can you imagine the good ol days when nobody had a f***ing cellphone? Yes people survived w/out them. Yes they are nice to have when you lose your friend in a crowd or need to call some chick late at night while you are at the bars or whatever. But cellphones in the big scheme of things, suck, especially in the hands of anybody at a ballgame.
  3. These were my predictions. It's cool to re-read what all of us loudmouths thought in preseason. I'm wrong on the setup man. Our relievers have been pretty good. I even like Dotel this year. 0-for-1. Lexi has been good defensively. 0-for-2 Dye is Dye 1-for-3 Paulie has been great 1 for 4. CQ has been out 1 for 5. Lexi has not hit this year for the most part 1 for 6 We contend (maybe) so I'm 2 for 7 or 1-for-7. That really sucks. What are all of you??
  4. It's all dreamworld. Frank would need a long extended stint in AAA which would be dumb for all concerned. He'd come up and the only place he could play is DH which we have one. Platooning he and Thome would be dumb. Also even though Frank is unemployed he won't come back to a team, any team, to sit. He wants to play. I wonder what he does every day in Vegas? Bring him back as third base coach or hitting coach NOW. I'd go for that.
  5. Frustrating to lose to another pitcher nobody's ever heard of. Yeah, he's a great prospect. I won't moan and groan, just say I feel for the poor fans who were in attendance for another blanking in the Cell. It's no fun to be in the stands when your team doesn't do s***.
  6. I sometimes get frustrated by the strikeouts, but I always love when they show his face with his helmet off when the team is celebrating a win or something. He's old school with the crew cut and popeye body. He's a big dude and a Hall of Famer. Wish we could make the WS with him on the team. He may not be here next year.
  7. Nice move by Ozzie pushing Colon back a day. Now only if they would do the same on Tuesday. Cmon Oz, push him back. Let's keep winning.
  8. I can't help but think of that recent post. "Gavin's (last) season was not a fluke." Whoever posted that, good post!
  9. I was really shocked when he whacked that two-strike pitch deep in Kansas City. He got some big hits in that series. Weird that he couldn't build on the road trip with 3 K's tonight.
  10. Anderson is pretty speedy if he could scoot home that quickly from second once the ball landed over Guillen's head. My guess is we got lucky on that play. We had a lot of luck that series.
  11. I'm just saying when a pitch is that close to a teammate's face ... if you are ever going to retaliate on something it's on a scary fastball right at a guy's face. Usually inside heaters aren't that scary. Stone did mention that this happens with the Royals a lot, so there was some question in Stoney's mind.
  12. Yeah it seems we made a lot of basic mistakes that series and still swept them. Worries me a little because it appears the Royals are THAT bad again.
  13. I also was waiting for Jenks to plunk him in the shoulder because that really was a scary pitch toward Lexi's face. I had mixed emotions, though. I wanted Bobby to wrap up the victory. I was hoping Oz would address it in the postgame, however, blasting the Royals for throwing at him. I wonder if anybody will write about it. Usually pitches aren't that close to the face. He'd be f***ed up a long time had he gotten hit with that one in the face.
  14. I didn't know he was tagging on the play. I didn't see a replay of where he started on his race home. I agree with you on your comment. I'm now just saying it was a darn good idea on his part to try to score. If we don't score the runner from second on a drive off the wall, that is pathetic and we might go on to lose because of the ridiculousness of the situation.
  15. That was a big play by Brian running through the stop sign. If we only get one run off a bomb over the right fielder's head ... I am thinking things might have gone to hell after that. Thank goodness Brian scored. You've got to score a guy from second on a blast like that, although I guess I can see why the runners would hesitate until they were sure. And it did kick to Guillen quickly. I'm just glad it worked out. The bottom line I would think is Brian deserves a lot of credit for his baserunning there. Don't know what to think about the 3B coach. The throw did seem to beat him and it was a great slide!
  16. He drew the nice walk late today. That was a good at bat. He didn't go fishing.
  17. Yeah there was a radio promo on "Sweep the Sox." I think they really thought they'd get well on the Sox. They didn't. Praise for Pods. He's proving a lot of people wrong. I admit I didn't want him back. Maybe he's destined to only play decent baseball for the Sox, nobody else. His contributions today were huge obviously. He set the tone nicely. Gotta keep it going obviously, but this was a nice win. I admit I didn't want Pods back and praise him today. Are any of you who were down on the Pods acquisition changing your tune?
  18. Whisler's mother has to be a happy woman.
  19. I was a little worried after Teahan got that hit. I was envisioning a home run that would have been crippling. Then he threw that high heat and followed it with an amazing curveball. Hail to Bobby Jenks!
  20. I don't know about that. I'm sure he knows what he's supposed to do. It just ain't easy to hit a baseball after the pitcher sets you up, then throws that two-strike pitch in the dirt. He's doing fine right now. I'd rather have him out there than ANY of our other options. As far as next year ... of course we've had a hole in cf for a long time now. Anderson's defense is comforting out there and he's hitting OK. He's doing pretty well IMO.
  21. I don't see any hope. Zack has shown no signs of suckiness. He's ruled all hitters this season. Our only hope is if Jimmy somehow times one or two and has a multi-homer game. I don't see our righties hitting him. No way. I'd play AJP even if he's due for a day off. Tonight though ... Great use of small ball tonight. Royals fans have to be pissed at the s***ty defense. Butler getting in the way on the bunt with second baseman covering. I know Hillman sort of called out Butler in the postgame interview. Said it's a play that has been around 100 years and Butler needs to know what to do.
  22. Great game. Mark B outstanding. It must be tough for Mark to pitch the night after a lefty takes the mound. That's wild we have three lefty starters. Poor Danks tomorrow vs. Zack. Another lefty.
  23. Has Clayton always worked this quickly? I like it. He could become a pretty cool story if he keeps this up. He is fun to watch pitch right now.
  24. So many studs tonight. My favorites though were in order: Clayton, Lexi, Fields, Anderson.
  25. Another first-round draft bust for those of you in love with baseball's draft.
