  1. I'd think there'd be more blaming of Kenny for rushing him if that happens. Although we have a lot of people on here who assess batters' swings, etc. If he is showing some big perceived flaws in his stance, swing, approach, yes the anger will be out in full force. And the calling for Walker's head again. Actually the law of averages favor Beckham. How many of our new callups/guys acquired via trade do anything great right out of the gate?
  2. That's a hilarious quote. Good stuff, Oz. I like the way he responds to angry fans' emails.
  3. I don't know why Oz needs to lose sleep on this. Pick either Fields or Getz to bench. I'd prefer benching Fields and putting Beckham there. But just do one of the two.
  4. I'm surprised they didn't bring him up to start this series to face pitchers his own age. Would have been a nice start seeing the young pitchers 4 straight nights.
  5. 3B at Charlotte should be a sign. Bye bye Josh. If Getz is healthy I'd rather see Beck at third, Lexi at short and Getz at 2B.
  6. I did not realize that. What's been his preferred position in the minors this year?
  7. I wish him the best. Good luck Beckham! That said ... Oz and KW are making a big mistake not just giving him 3b Send Fields down. Fields can't hit for power anymore. He needs work in the minors. We don't need a singles hitter at 3B. That is the only answer. Or move Lexi to second and let Beckham play ss every day. Moving Beckham around is dumb.
  8. My god. We get a break in the schedule and are down through half this game. If we lose this game, that is disgraceful to drop 2 of 3 to the A's at home. Get your head out, white Sox and win this game.
  9. My take: Ozzie is an above average manager. We're lucky to have him. Players play for him. That said, he'll be fired some day like they all are. Brian Anderson is an average to below average player. Good fielder though. Wise is a below average player. Anderson is better than Wise. Neither are anything special. Oz should be playing Brian almost every day. But if he doesn't, it is not that big a deal. Wise and Anderson both are nothing to be happy about.
  10. Yeah I just saw the Zambrano article on the Trib website. Says the team is not happy he skipped the flight. Wow. May have to apologize to his teammates. He's a great talent, but kind of a flake. That loss tonight by the Cubs is the kind of loss that back in the day ended the Sox season. Seems years ago (pre Ozzie era) we'd lose a horrific heartbreaker like that one and go in the tank and our season was Ova. This will probably blow over when he apologizes, but interesting that the team is mad.
  11. Maybe cause he works fast and appears to have a clue out there and appears to be a competitor. So far there's been a lot to like. Obviously there will be nights he gets rocked, but so far so good.
  12. These calendars are always great. Rest assured you are helping spread Sox love all over the country. It's always on my desktop.
  13. I know Colon has been OK this year, but wouldn't you rather try Whisler? Bartolo's line today was pretty ordinary to bad against a bad A's team.
  14. That is horrible behavior. Clowns on the f***ing phone. It amazes me at minor league games how many people have their backs to the action while they visit in a picnic-like setting. Somebody's gonna get killed by a foul ball to the back of the head. Can you imagine the good ol days when nobody had a f***ing cellphone? Yes people survived w/out them. Yes they are nice to have when you lose your friend in a crowd or need to call some chick late at night while you are at the bars or whatever. But cellphones in the big scheme of things, suck, especially in the hands of anybody at a ballgame.
  15. These were my predictions. It's cool to re-read what all of us loudmouths thought in preseason. I'm wrong on the setup man. Our relievers have been pretty good. I even like Dotel this year. 0-for-1. Lexi has been good defensively. 0-for-2 Dye is Dye 1-for-3 Paulie has been great 1 for 4. CQ has been out 1 for 5. Lexi has not hit this year for the most part 1 for 6 We contend (maybe) so I'm 2 for 7 or 1-for-7. That really sucks. What are all of you??
  16. It's all dreamworld. Frank would need a long extended stint in AAA which would be dumb for all concerned. He'd come up and the only place he could play is DH which we have one. Platooning he and Thome would be dumb. Also even though Frank is unemployed he won't come back to a team, any team, to sit. He wants to play. I wonder what he does every day in Vegas? Bring him back as third base coach or hitting coach NOW. I'd go for that.
  17. Frustrating to lose to another pitcher nobody's ever heard of. Yeah, he's a great prospect. I won't moan and groan, just say I feel for the poor fans who were in attendance for another blanking in the Cell. It's no fun to be in the stands when your team doesn't do s***.
  18. I sometimes get frustrated by the strikeouts, but I always love when they show his face with his helmet off when the team is celebrating a win or something. He's old school with the crew cut and popeye body. He's a big dude and a Hall of Famer. Wish we could make the WS with him on the team. He may not be here next year.
  19. Nice move by Ozzie pushing Colon back a day. Now only if they would do the same on Tuesday. Cmon Oz, push him back. Let's keep winning.
  20. I can't help but think of that recent post. "Gavin's (last) season was not a fluke." Whoever posted that, good post!
  21. I was really shocked when he whacked that two-strike pitch deep in Kansas City. He got some big hits in that series. Weird that he couldn't build on the road trip with 3 K's tonight.
  22. Anderson is pretty speedy if he could scoot home that quickly from second once the ball landed over Guillen's head. My guess is we got lucky on that play. We had a lot of luck that series.
  23. I'm just saying when a pitch is that close to a teammate's face ... if you are ever going to retaliate on something it's on a scary fastball right at a guy's face. Usually inside heaters aren't that scary. Stone did mention that this happens with the Royals a lot, so there was some question in Stoney's mind.
  24. Yeah it seems we made a lot of basic mistakes that series and still swept them. Worries me a little because it appears the Royals are THAT bad again.
  25. I also was waiting for Jenks to plunk him in the shoulder because that really was a scary pitch toward Lexi's face. I had mixed emotions, though. I wanted Bobby to wrap up the victory. I was hoping Oz would address it in the postgame, however, blasting the Royals for throwing at him. I wonder if anybody will write about it. Usually pitches aren't that close to the face. He'd be f***ed up a long time had he gotten hit with that one in the face.
