White Sox Winner!!
That's a good record w/out Lilly. Who will we bring up if CQ is DL'ed? Better not be him.

Quentin heading back to Chicago
How did he hurt the heel anyway? Poor CQ. He's been banged up way too much for a young potential stud. We're playing well, but man our outfield is pretty weak without CQ. We have Pods, BA and Dye. Pods and BA sometimes are decent; hope they suck it up and have a good few weeks if CQ is DL'ed. It's no time to slip. Twins are kicking butt; Detroit is excellent and KC the last 3-4 series against us has played us very tough.

Sox @ Angels 5-26-09
Man, you are a tough grader. We won the game.

Is Josh Fields a bust?
Was this a joke? Or is the poster 10 years old, which is possible. Josh Fields needs a lot more multi-hit games to prove he's a big leaguer but I wouldn't blame Walker. At least the Walker stuff is Baseball Cliche 101. The Royals are not hitting right now and after every anemic performance the talk shows are lighting up about getting rid of Kevin Seitzer as hitting coach. Earlier this year, they were clamoring for Dave Duncan's head in St. Louis, so much the columnist wrote the fans need to shut up, that Duncan is a Hall of Famer. And since that Cub series, the Cardinal staff has been great, temporarily shutting up the fans. Who are Cub fans blaming for their eight losses in a row? It's a cliche you gotta blame either the skipper or one of the coaches.

Hey haters
So what's the word on CQ by now? Is he on the DL? Pardon my ignorance. First time I've heard a pop is a good thing. Tell that to my lower right leg last summer when jogging up hill. Ouch.

What it takes to get back into it by the All-Star Break?
Good analysis, but in reality what we need is a kick ass winning streak. Without winning eight or 10 in a row at some point or going 8-2 or 9-2 or something, forget it.

2009 Cubs thread
Cubs have lost 8 in a row. Still makes me wonder: What's the longest losing streak for a team that ultimately wins the division? I still think they will win that division. -- i haven't followed the Cubs closely this year. How are Harden and Lilly doing? I know Dempster got lit last night, but is he having a bad season after last year's dominating one?

2009 AL Central Thread
KC is really struggling. 4-12 in last 16 I believe. It's all coincided with the loss of Soria, though obviously he's not the reason for this collapse. It's just a weird coincidence. They are doing a promotion for a "sweep the Sox" weekend. Should be interesting to see how we play against a team that is sucking. It would be nice to get 2 of 3 versus the Angels first. Need one more to do that.

Bedard questions
It seems to me that except for the handful of truly elite pitchers, almost anybody you sign would have potential flaws. It's the nature of pitching today. Look at KC. Meche. He was simply horrible yesterday and is 2-5. Bannister is doing pretty well this year after a horrid season. Even CC is up and down year to year. Cliff Lee. Zambrano gets hurt once in a while. Is there any guarantee Greinke will pitch like this consistently one year to the next? Some of Detroit's pitchers have been Jeckyll/Hyde. What about Nolasco who had to be send down after last year's success?? Don't you agree anybody you sign to a multi year deal is a big risk? How can teams sign anybody??

Is Josh Fields a bust?
Double off the rc field wall. What a concept. Hit it where it is pitched. Maybe some of these guys will start to do that. When I watch other games, I see a lot of opposite field blasts.

Hey haters
I didn't see last night's game but hope he continues to do whatever he did to get four hits. If he doesn't hit if CQ is out we are in deep s***. So I hope Pods keeps it up. He should. Every week he's playing for his professional life.

Interview with Jerry Reinsdorf
Jerry makes sense in his comments, but Detroit is close to saying it is the Tigers' decision this year. 25-18 isn't a bad record. We need them to come down to .500 land soon. They just abused the Royals today.

WHITE SOX WINNER!
Great to see the bats sizzle. Do they continue Tuesday or will it be the epic score 17 one night and zero the next? C'mon BA ... emerge as the stud player you've shown flashes of being.

Sox @ Angels 5-25-09 - Danks vs. Santana
Great to get the offense going. Now we gotta play w/out Quentin for a while probably? That sucks. Pods in left; Brian in center; Dye in right. Cmon Pods, we need you to hit like you did tonight!
-
Do the Tigers have the best pitching in the ALCD?
This series in KC is also big. Royals have been sucking, but they are only 3 back as a 3 game series start. Does KC get blown away by Det's ace today? Or make Detroit lose 3 in the last 4 days?

2009 Cubs thread
I still like the Cubs in this division. I wish we were .500. If we just stuck around there, we'd have a chance. Our team is so f***ing dysfunctional. Do you all agree Cubs are in the playoffs? Too much talent to not make it.

2009 AL Central Thread
I'd like to see KC sweep Detroit.

Contreras Update
Jose shouldn't return to the big league Sox again. He's too old. His funky sidearm s*** doesn't work. He's methodical. He's wild. His pitches scream 'hit me.' Just let him go somewhere else. And thank him for the past. He was a great Sox undoubtedly but he and Pods need to go.

Is Josh Fields a bust?
Can't we acquire somebody, anybody with major league experience to play third instead of Josh? It's time for him to play some more minor league ball.

Game Thread: Pit @ CWS at 1:05 CDT on CSN
I think most of us realize this, but we are holding out hope that lightning will strike and we'll contend. As of now, I'd give our team a D on the A,B,C,D,F scale, no doubt about that.
-
Does Peavy end up with White Sox before the trade deadline?
Exactly. That's the bottom line on Peavy.
-
Contreras Update
Don't we have enough pitchers for mop up duty already? We need some more real pitchers.

I wouldn't say AJ stinks. Gobble stinks. AJ does not stink. Fields is close to the stink category as well.

How Important Is a Sweep of the Bucs?
The Sox are definitely going to have to start playing better baseball or that sweep is assured. I wish they'd get more at bats similar to Paulie's tonight where he whacked that single up the middle to score a run, with I believe, two strikes on him.

Peavy Rejects Sox Offer; Deal Now Dead
No, but you were responding to the post that mentioned Clayton's performance making the Padres salivate. So I assumed you were saying pretty much anybody could get the Bucs' hitters out. I just think he deserves a lot of credit because sometimes it doesn't matter who is at the plate with our pitchers on the mound. It looked like he was copying Mark by immediately getting on the damn rubber and working as quickly as he could. The Bucs' hitters stepped out a lot, etc.
