Sox suffering from serious power shortage
Interesting stuff. Can't argue with anything really. Our power outage sucks.

Ozzie Guillen Makes The Line up!
El Rockin, I just can't believe how weird a team we have. Some nights/weeks we actually hit the ball a bit. Then all those shutouts are maddening. Crazy team we have this season.

Is Gordon Beckham a Bust?
You draft lovers are killin me.I assume you are kidding but it's not in green. I just listened to a 30 minute interview from Baseball America draft expert and he said of about 10 guys they could go anywhere from 2 to 25. It's a crapshoot.

How did Nate McLouth end up in Atlanta and not here?
Why? He would have been a legitimate pickup. And if Beckham is good like everybody says, that would have been 2 significant upgrades to our lineup in a week. Let's hope Pods keeps doing OK in the days leading up to Danks.

Is Gordon Beckham a Bust?
Why don't you make this a positive thread and give me your expectations for him the next 7 games on this homestand. I want eight hits in his next 24 at bats and him to enliven our s*** offense.

Ozzie Guillen Makes The Line up!
I don't mind him calling out the emailers once in a while. It's funny and I'm not big on anonymous emails. I doubt many of them sign their real names. I could be mistaken on that. At least he gives reasons for what he does in his rants against the fans. Sometimes people don't care about his reasons, though.

I've always hoped in the back of my mind we'd get McLouth. You are probably right that it's because Danks is coming soon. But cf is what we need and he was there for the taking.

White sox shutouts...
Who are the good hitting coaches in baseball? Who is a good hitting coach? I mean I wouldn't mind a change but I don't think it would matter a bit. We have a lot of veteran players who do what they do and a lot of young guys who probably have hit the same way all their lives. From what Guillen says, Walker puts in the time, etc. What the f*** is he supposed to do? What hitting coach do you want here? I agree our offense sucks and wouldn't complain if we fired him, but I still don't think it'd matter much.

Is Gordon Beckham a Bust?
It would be nice to see him do something positive in the next 7 games on this homestand, however. He'll probably play in five or six of the seven. Lets say he gets 24 more at bats. Would nice to see him get eight or more hits and cause some Beckham-mania rather than more of the Sox snooze attack.

Chicago Slayer vs. Oakland Athletic 6/4 Thread-1:05pm-CSN
Many of you had lower expectations for this team as i learned in the chatroom last night. I need to now copy you and officially lower my expectations. I thought we could be a .600 type team. To lose 3 of 4 to the As at home is a disgrace. It simply is a disgrace. Boy Wonder Beckham continue to follow a pattern with Sox newcomers in never getting off to a sizzling start. (I'm not down on him after one game, just saying we never get a new piece to our team come in and go 3-3 with 4 ribbies or something like that. And for all of you who say it's a marathon not a sprint and way to overreact after one series and what do you expect with all the injuries ... I realize it's just one series and it's a marathon and yes we've been f***ed with CQ out. But you can't deny the Sox have been disgracefully bad to start this homestand after a GREAT road trip. It doesn't compute except to say you with the lower expectations were right. Several in the chatroom said we're a .500 team at best and that is apparently the case.

Return of the Count
How can anybody argue with that? He's right. Count is not a good option in that DH. Two losses to Detroit in one day would really suck with the Tigers in first with a fairly healthy lead already.

Sox vs. Athletics - 7:11PM on WCIU
You guys that complain about Wise ... Oz answers all your questions in the story by Merkin. Why don't you respond to what Oz says rather than the same tired arguments/complaints about his use of Wise.

Gordon Beckham Called Up
Has anybody in the Sox organization even hinted Lexi might ever play cf?

Gordon Beckham Called Up
I'd think there'd be more blaming of Kenny for rushing him if that happens. Although we have a lot of people on here who assess batters' swings, etc. If he is showing some big perceived flaws in his stance, swing, approach, yes the anger will be out in full force. And the calling for Walker's head again. Actually the law of averages favor Beckham. How many of our new callups/guys acquired via trade do anything great right out of the gate?

The Great Brian Anderson Debacle
That's a hilarious quote. Good stuff, Oz. I like the way he responds to angry fans' emails.

Gordon Beckham Called Up
I don't know why Oz needs to lose sleep on this. Pick either Fields or Getz to bench. I'd prefer benching Fields and putting Beckham there. But just do one of the two.
-
Gordon Beckham Called Up
I'm surprised they didn't bring him up to start this series to face pitchers his own age. Would have been a nice start seeing the young pitchers 4 straight nights.

Gordon Beckham Called Up
3B at Charlotte should be a sign. Bye bye Josh. If Getz is healthy I'd rather see Beck at third, Lexi at short and Getz at 2B.
-
Gordon Beckham Called Up
I did not realize that. What's been his preferred position in the minors this year?
-
Gordon Beckham Called Up
I wish him the best. Good luck Beckham! That said ... Oz and KW are making a big mistake not just giving him 3b Send Fields down. Fields can't hit for power anymore. He needs work in the minors. We don't need a singles hitter at 3B. That is the only answer. Or move Lexi to second and let Beckham play ss every day. Moving Beckham around is dumb.

Sox vs. Athletics - 7:11PM on WCIU
My god. We get a break in the schedule and are down through half this game. If we lose this game, that is disgraceful to drop 2 of 3 to the A's at home. Get your head out, white Sox and win this game.

The Great Brian Anderson Debacle
My take: Ozzie is an above average manager. We're lucky to have him. Players play for him. That said, he'll be fired some day like they all are. Brian Anderson is an average to below average player. Good fielder though. Wise is a below average player. Anderson is better than Wise. Neither are anything special. Oz should be playing Brian almost every day. But if he doesn't, it is not that big a deal. Wise and Anderson both are nothing to be happy about.

2009 Cubs thread
Yeah I just saw the Zambrano article on the Trib website. Says the team is not happy he skipped the flight. Wow. May have to apologize to his teammates. He's a great talent, but kind of a flake. That loss tonight by the Cubs is the kind of loss that back in the day ended the Sox season. Seems years ago (pre Ozzie era) we'd lose a horrific heartbreaker like that one and go in the tank and our season was Ova. This will probably blow over when he apologizes, but interesting that the team is mad.

Clayton Richard - A John Sickel write-up
Maybe cause he works fast and appears to have a clue out there and appears to be a competitor. So far there's been a lot to like. Obviously there will be nights he gets rocked, but so far so good.
