  1. The good news is Dotel and Linebrink got holds. If we are going to do anything (assuming the hitting can scrap together some runs like it somehow did today) we need to establish set up men. Dotel and Linebrink leading up to Bobby is our hope. They did it today. Can the big boppers Thome and Konerko do something in these upcoming road games???
  2. Oz is panicking; we in trouble
  3. Our light hitting shortstop (oops second baseman) one upped their light hitting shortstop.
  4. Holy bleep; you gotta be kidding me.
  5. When is Oz going to start hating Swisher, that is the question.
  6. Excellent job of "knowing your team."
  7. And at home .. and against the Twins.
  8. The Twins' s***ty hitters get hits (Everett), their great players get clutch hits (Mauer). We might as well blow up the team and have all no name players like the Twins. Our name players aren't s***.
  9. Everybody has to read that Downey column. Congratulations Mike on a terrific column.
  10. Dotel and Logan are very important. Nothing will matter if our offense stays this s***ty. But if the offense becomes respectable we still need some set up success if we want to do anything.
  11. 90 wins? We still have no team speed. We still have question marks in middle relief big time. Our veterans have not hit for some time now with the exception of Thome and Konerko LATE last season. Swisher and Cabrera are not excelling. I don't mean to be a doomsayer but the middle relief and the offense is quite questionable. I applaud the starting pitching and Bobby. We also can't win at home, or haven't yet. Our home record is a BIG concern to any team that wants to win 80 games, much less 90.
  12. Walker should be reassigned if they don't want to fire him. This team needs to make a change and apparently Oz is safe. Don't fire the guy ... reassign him and make Baines the hitting coach. Just do it.
  13. I like Morrissey's column. Nice perspective as usual. I liked the Brian Anderson mention at the end. Well done column. As far as Mariotti ... wow. If he didn't rip Ozzie and Reinsdorf and KW so much, this bashing of the Sox would be much talked about. He was merciless. But since he rips them all the time, it's just more of the same. But what venom!
  14. Yes, at least he could point out how the Sox have made 10 pitchers this year look like Koufax. Hawk still is critical at times which is more times than any other announcers in baseball who are homers.
  15. At least Swisher finally got two hits. Kidding. There are no bright spots in that joke of a game. Wasserman's line looks like something that should get him a ticket back to the minors.
  16. Minnesota embarrasses Sox should be everybody's headline. What a joke.
  17. what's the mood in this thread been like tonight?
  18. Why do we suck at home? Seriously, teams with our kind of home record finish horribly in the standings.
  19. Maybe the papers should write a story twice a week about how Uribe is about to be let go. Maybe it fires him up when it's reported a team shakeup is coming and all the shakeup involved was sending down some pitcher we won't use anyway.
  20. This soft tosser Livan needs to get abused by Thome and Paulie. How come the ball isn't flying out of the Cell this year?
  21. The Sox were dumb in leaving the doll in the locker room for all to see. After every player stuffed the bats in the doll's openings, the doll shoulda been kicked into the back room. Bad judgment by those who didn't yank the doll before the media arrived? Yes. Is this a big deal? NO. I'm now gonna read the Sun Times and Trib and see what the columnists are saying.
  22. Swisher is not a hack in cf. It would have been a big slap to the face of our supposed morale-boosting team leader (Swisher) to yank him in the ninth of the no-no. Like Fathom said, he's not a horrible outfielder. Not that I'm a huge Swisher fan (he's now hitting .196 to Uribe's .195, Thome's .209, Cabrera's .214) but it would have been a huge slap in the face to a guy who is supposed to be one of the key team leaders. This is (another) non issue.
  23. I stand corrected then on the karma thing. I guess Oz will get ripped in the media again for not putting in Anderson even after we finally win a game. I still think it would be bush league to take out our morale boosting starting center fielder who was out there for the first eight innings of the no no. I also still say you can't guarantee me the ball would have been hit in the same spot if Anderson was in the game.
  24. Great post. Like fathom said, enjoy the win. This is stupid to b**** about tonight. Ifs and buts ... how do you know the ball would have been hit in exactly the same spot at that point in time had Anderson trotted out to center?? Maybe the batter would have seen Anderson's tall frame and pushed a single over Cabrera's head. Fans were not booing because Anderson was not in center for goshsakes! Sox win! Time to get even for the sweep in the Humpty Dome.
  25. I knew somebody was gonna mention that. Can't switch the lineup in a no-no. That's a baseball no-no as somebody else pointed out.
