It's his opinion that it's a high price to pay. Fair enough. But if Swisher is good, it's a nice piece to go with our new ss. We got a new set up man who is supposed to be decent. I am thinking the moves are not over, so it's still wait and see. I mean I have no problem with the article, but arguably we are a better team today after this trade. It scares the s*** out of me though if those pitchers are as good as Beane thinks they are. Whatever, it appears we got a good player (centerfielder?) and to go with the new set up man we are making progress assuming our sluggers (JT, Paul, AJP, Dye) aren't over the hill.

White Sox Acquire Nick Swisher from Athletics

Nice to get an everday player so many of you say is good. I'll trust you that we got a good player. Do you think Sweeney is going to be a good major leaguer? I officially am in favor of the trade FWIW and I realize my blessing ain't worth much more than a cup of coffee. -
The White Sox and Alexei Ramírez agree to 4 year deal

I wonder how old this guy really is. I wonder how baseball execs get to the bottom of age. You'd think KW has a clause in there that says contract is void if you are proven NOT to be the age you profess. That clip looked good but his face did not look like that of a 20-something. -
I think one of the reasons KC wanted him is the Erstad factor. He killed the Royals when they met in interleague play. Killed 'em.
-
The Crede situation is why KW gets paid the big bucks. I don't know what he should do, but Fields' bat is pretty impressive; Joe's glove amazing. If I HAD to make the GM call, I'd trade Joe figuring back injuries are pretty crippling. See Mike Sweeney. I would assume the nature of baseball, taking so many hacks so many days, the ODDS are he'll hurt the back again and again. In answer to the question, I guess I'd seek pitching for Joe.

Am I wrong in thinking we should have signed Miguel and dumped our current backup catcher? I like Olivo.

Good points Buck. I just hope we're not out of it by June 1. That would make for another s***ty season to be a fan. There's a chance things could fall right. Dunno about that starting pitching, though. After Mark and Vas, there's not much there IMO. Hope I'm wrong. Good post, though. I thought it made lots of sense.

I thought about something today, probably cause the Bulls owner also owns the Sox. Skiles got fired on Xmas Eve by the grinch Jerry. What the f*** did Kenny have to lose this offseason? He didn't roll the dice. Does he honestly believe he won't be the next guy to get axed with this current team? Why not make some bold moves? Cause our boring team is going to suck and first Oz will go and then Ken. Or it might be vice versa. But both are going to be fired at some point next season cause KW didn't make any bold moves to improve the team. This team is 4th place at best. How can anybody say we are not closer to the bottom than the top of our division? Why didn't KW roll the dice? Barring a miracle in the form of dominating starting pitching and defense, and/or the return of a very live ball, this team will not be fun to watch. All it has is some great power hitters who are coming off mediocre years and a great closer and two reliable starting pitchers.

I like that video. I'd hate to trade a guy with a sweet swing like his. He hit some true bombs in that video. Thanks.

I picked that he is good and should have more time. More accurate of my feeling however is he is decent and should have more time. I know it's living in the past, but I can't yet fire a guy (as if I had a choice) that gave us a world title. I hope he gets his head out of his ass and starts making some good trades/talent evaluations. Those relievers he brought in really stunk.

You have to like this. We didn't have to give anything up except cash. And if he's listed at 26 we know he's probably no older than 33, probably closer to 30. Hope he can play; I won't complain when we acquire guys and give up nothing to get them. GO SOX! -
Yeah but nobody thought we could sign Buehrle either. Garland might have re-upped with the Sox.
-
Are Freddie and Bartolo healthy? I wouldn't mind either of those guys. I would pass on Prior just because he's not ready for the start of the season. Too risky.
-
Trade Uribe? Yes, of couse. For Payton? No.
-
If he trades Mark and further weakens the rotation, I think he's insane. How in the world did this team win a World Series just a couple moons ago?
-
I don't know why it's not natural to congratulate players on the Sox for not being in the Mitchell report. Though I'm beginning to think much of that report is a pile of s***. Two former Yankee clubhouse guys are the ones giving all the quotes. Not much investigative work here.
-
That can't be. Jon stinks ya know.
-
Big deal. Tough guy. Call him that in a bar or on the street, not where the stands separate you from Judy. Are you a Sox fan? The guy is not a No. 1 pitcher or No. 2 but he is good. How you can not admit Garland is a good pitcher is beyond me. How do you know nobody fears any of his pitches? He looked pretty damn good in that 1-hitter. If Garland pitched quicker ALL THE TIME like Mark B, he'd be a total stud. He's not, though. But he is a No. 3 pitcher. We are going to miss him whether you admit it or not.
-
It seems natural in reacting to one of the biggest sports stories of the year, Sox fans are happy two of their own sluggers, as well as the Big Hurt, appear to have done it the right way. It's not like somebody just decided to praise them for not taking steroids out of the clear blue. It's in response to the Mitchell report.

Is this the same Garland who has had many games in which he has been simply dominant? I mean I hope Danks can be great, I do, but Garland had some hellish starts. We also are going to lose our new ss after one year. How come everybody that says we were going to lose Garland anyway never care that the guy we got figures to leave in a year as well. And I could care less we got cash in the deal for Garland as well. What is KW doing with that cash? Not much of late. I can't believe you'd rather watch Danks than Garland pitch at this point. I sure as hell wouldn't. Does everybody on the board agree with him on that? You'd rather watch Danks start or Garland?
-
This is what I don't get. You think Jose, Danks and Floyd are going to last many innings? I don't. And even Vas has had the history of getting lit up after five. We need some inning eaters. Also, I don't think many of us would have minded dealing him, but I think we got robbed. We got an old ss whose contract is running out.
-
My gosh. How can you say that? I guess some never thought of Garland as anything but "Judy." Can any of the Garland haters say they would rather see Jose, Danks or Floyd start in place of Jon? It's a big hit to our rotation.
-
If we pick up Randy Winn, Clif Floyd, Coco or somebody like that we are the new Baltimore Orioles.
-
I still don't want him fired. He did bring us the title. I just would like to see him do better now, in the present. I'd prefer kickkenwilliamsinthebutt.com

Congrats Jimmy. You are clean!
