  1. I like Morrissey's column. Nice perspective as usual. I liked the Brian Anderson mention at the end. Well done column. As far as Mariotti ... wow. If he didn't rip Ozzie and Reinsdorf and KW so much, this bashing of the Sox would be much talked about. He was merciless. But since he rips them all the time, it's just more of the same. But what venom!
  2. Yes, at least he could point out how the Sox have made 10 pitchers this year look like Koufax. Hawk still is critical at times which is more times than any other announcers in baseball who are homers.
  3. At least Swisher finally got two hits. Kidding. There are no bright spots in that joke of a game. Wasserman's line looks like something that should get him a ticket back to the minors.
  4. Minnesota embarrasses Sox should be everybody's headline. What a joke.
  5. what's the mood in this thread been like tonight?
  6. Why do we suck at home? Seriously, teams with our kind of home record finish horribly in the standings.
  7. Maybe the papers should write a story twice a week about how Uribe is about to be let go. Maybe it fires him up when it's reported a team shakeup is coming and all the shakeup involved was sending down some pitcher we won't use anyway.
  8. This soft tosser Livan needs to get abused by Thome and Paulie. How come the ball isn't flying out of the Cell this year?
  9. The Sox were dumb in leaving the doll in the locker room for all to see. After every player stuffed the bats in the doll's openings, the doll shoulda been kicked into the back room. Bad judgment by those who didn't yank the doll before the media arrived? Yes. Is this a big deal? NO. I'm now gonna read the Sun Times and Trib and see what the columnists are saying.
  10. Swisher is not a hack in cf. It would have been a big slap to the face of our supposed morale-boosting team leader (Swisher) to yank him in the ninth of the no-no. Like Fathom said, he's not a horrible outfielder. Not that I'm a huge Swisher fan (he's now hitting .196 to Uribe's .195, Thome's .209, Cabrera's .214) but it would have been a huge slap in the face to a guy who is supposed to be one of the key team leaders. This is (another) non issue.
  11. I stand corrected then on the karma thing. I guess Oz will get ripped in the media again for not putting in Anderson even after we finally win a game. I still think it would be bush league to take out our morale boosting starting center fielder who was out there for the first eight innings of the no no. I also still say you can't guarantee me the ball would have been hit in the same spot if Anderson was in the game.
  12. Great post. Like fathom said, enjoy the win. This is stupid to b**** about tonight. Ifs and buts ... how do you know the ball would have been hit in exactly the same spot at that point in time had Anderson trotted out to center?? Maybe the batter would have seen Anderson's tall frame and pushed a single over Cabrera's head. Fans were not booing because Anderson was not in center for goshsakes! Sox win! Time to get even for the sweep in the Humpty Dome.
  13. I knew somebody was gonna mention that. Can't switch the lineup in a no-no. That's a baseball no-no as somebody else pointed out.
  14. Great post by Yasny. If the Sox front office execs or even interns had made such a shrine, there'd be hell to pay and they'd be fired today. Still I can't help but think this is clubhouse stuff, boys will be boys, and no big deal. What will get Oz fired, it seems to me, is he can't become a stuffy team spokesman that most teams want nowadays. He's too controversial and with the team not responding anymore, I'd suspect he'll be fired this season at some point if the team fades out of contention.
  15. I thought about Ditka, but then I thought about since Ditka. Haven't the Bears' coaches since then been pretty bland media wise? Skiles never said anything too wild in the media did he? Piniella is a hot head of course. Dusty didn't say anything out of whack. I listened to Oz's "rant" on chicago sports and it was a give and take with the writers in which they were interjecting stuff and all parties were laughing some. He dropped the f-bomb a lot, but it was just conversational stuff. I love Oz's personality. I hate our team's offense since the title season.
  16. Uribe is the scapegoat? Fine, but too bad Richar isn't ready to play yet. Unless it's Getz and it won't be, who is gonna play second??
  17. Can Josh Fields field a ground ball at second base? Only halfway kidding. I assume the answer is no. I like jason's suggestions. Not bad stuff IMO...
  18. Anything is possible if Toronto can beat you four straight. As far as Crede, somebody said he had lack of intensity for not begging to bat. C'mon. If he really had a migraine give him a break. You can't move your head with a migraine. He might have gotten killed trying to duck from a pitch. If he had a migraine I can't believe he was on the bench. Was he in the clubhouse laying down in the dark? Did anybody see him on the bench even?
  19. greg775 replied to Soxfest's topic in Pale Hose Talk
That might be the post of the year. People get mad when posters over-react, but good teams do not lose 4 straight games to the Toronto Blue Jays. Way to show some pride, lifeless White Sox. What a joke. As expected, shuffling the lineup did no good. The Sox have done a good job of lowering expectations. My only hope as far as the Sox contending for a playoff spot is we kick ass against teams from our suddenly mediocre division, which actually is possible. We shall see.
  20. I love Ozzie and his crazy rants but you have to admit not many organizations would put up with the F bombs he throws out there all the time. In this day and age of political correctness, how many representatives of organizations talk like that in public? I realize this is baseball and I don't mind the F bombs at all, but it's kind of unique. He tells the media his veterans need to get their heads out of their asses then gets mad at the fans and media for acting like the team has some holes.
  21. I'm glad we agree Swish's offensive production has been unacceptable. You got to hit better than .220 no matter how many walks you draw.
  22. Why isn't Harold Baines a big league hitting coach? He had a sweet swing and approach and was amazing except when he went into those 0-for-25s. How bout Chet Lemon? Is he available?
  23. So is Marcum, so is (fill in the blank). Our fate will be decided with how we do in our own division so let's get ready for our 19 games with KC and Minnie, Det, Cleveland. We've not even played the Royals yet.
  24. Good article by Mark Gonzalez in the Trib for Monday's paper available at http://chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/sp...1,2071713.story But Oz contradicts himself in his rants. Oz rips the fans for being fickle, blasting the team, a day after he admitted his veterans needed to get their heads out of their asses. In this Trib story ... it says Guillen couldn’t comprehend the fickleness of Chicago. “People are panicking,” said Guillen, whose Sox were in first place in the American League Central from April 15 until Saturday night. “Did we play a real bad week? Yes, we did, we stunk. But it wasn’t too long ago that we were — ‘the biggest surprise in baseball, wow, look at the White Sox.’ “All of a sudden, there we go, back to normal. We have to deal with it. (Bleep) it. As long as the 25 guys out there believe we can do it, everyone else, hey ... “ Good stuf from Oz ripping those with no faith, but then he ends the story with this gem: “I don’t think (general manager) Kenny (Williams) is going to put up with this stuff. If they (players) don’t believe they can do it, well, we’re going to find someone that can do it.” So Oz admits the team is stinking yet gets mad at the fans for thinking the team is stinking. I love Oz and his rants. But he's crazy, you have to admit.
  25. If the Sox want a scapegoat and to start making moderate changes, then dump Uribe and play anybody else at second not named Ozuna. I guess financially we can't drop Uribe, but I wish the Sox would.
