  1. I like Pods for obvious reasons. He helped bring us a title. Good luck to him. It appears like many players, he hit a certain age, however and is done. -- I don't know why I thought of this, but remember when Rock Raines suddenly couldn't steal a base any more?
  2. How do you know what makes the troops happy? You may not like them (the camos), but anything people here in their comfortable homes can do to honor the troops, who daily are sweating their asses off for us here is no empty gesture. Maybe you served in the armed services, maybe not. I for one applaud ANY gesture to honor those guys who are fighting this stupid ass war. I hope the Sox give all Chicagoans at war future season tickets for FREE at least for one season.
  3. Best of luck to him, but glad he's gone. Now get rid of MacDougal and Sisco please.
  4. One thing about Kansas basketball. Kansas fans are EVERYWHERE. May have the best road following of anywhere except maybe Ky.
  5. I hope Oz has no tolerance for bases on balls from his pen this year. I'd prefer he jump dump MacD, but if he makes the team I'd yank him after ONE walk. Is Myers out of baseball? I am assuming we dumped that stiff.
  6. Proves money doesn't matter. This guy is a huge health concern. But at least we have some new bullpen bodies. I wonder if he'll make it out of spring training health wise. Wouldn't that be something if the Sox have patched together a better bullpen?
  7. I like your optimism, too, mainly because of Swisher. Hopefully he's a good grinder, not an Erstad. As far as pressure ... I don't think big league players feel that much pressure. We've got a lot of veterans and still have some guys from the WS title team. I don't think pressure matters.
  8. This guy wasn't bad when he was healthy.
  9. The thought of Crede playing third again is appealing to me. He's a good player. But I wonder if like Thome and Mike Sweeney of the Royals his back woes are just starting. I can't imagine a guy whose had back surgery not have recurring problems considering all baseball players do is use their backs for seven months counting March.
  10. If he can't be back til after the AllStar break, forget it. Too much of the season will have happened by then.
  11. That was a funny sentence. I laughed at fatass for some reason. I wouldn't mind getting fatty back. At least he has some experience.
  12. Wouldn't you all agree the odds of us making the playoffs right now are about 30 percent? The odds are greater of us finishing last than first? It's going to take a year of every player being an overachiever as well as Oz Coop and Walker working some magic. Is this team capable of such bonding together or are the Sox going to be clones of the dreadfully mopey Bulls?
  13. Pasqua did stink. Another guy would be Bobby Bonds. He sucked as a Sox.
  14. I didn't mind the Dybber until he made that mistake in Game Four. We win that game, we win Game Five vs. the Orioles with LaMarr Hoyt and big things were ahead. Runs were impossible to come by that series and still we were in it. Terrible blunder by Dybber.
  15. Really hope he can stay healthy. He swings so hard I can't imagine him being healthy all year at this stage of his career and his history of bad back.
  16. It's usually been guys we acquire who really sucked right off the bat. Royce Clayton was my No. 1. Kenny Lofton. Really don't like the ex-Royals, Sisco and Mac. Didn't like Bevington (manger obviously not a player). Not a big fan of the Alomars when they played for the Sox.
  17. Great great site. Thanx.
  18. I think Kenny is OK but that long post proclaiming him this amazing GM is simply not true. He has whiffed badly at times. He got us a World Championship and I thank him. But he does not have this amazing master plan that will keep the Sox good forever. Can you say Chris Young? And yes I'm one of the 77 percent in favor of the trade.
  19. Those fans are mad because prospects don't excite anybody. You lose a fan favorite for guys you never heard of ... you get mad.
  20. Great post, Wolf. I think you hit it right on the head.
  21. It's his opinion that it's a high price to pay. Fair enough. But if Swisher is good, it's a nice piece to go with our new ss. We got a new set up man who is supposed to be decent. I am thinking the moves are not over, so it's still wait and see. I mean I have no problem with the article, but arguably we are a better team today after this trade. It scares the s*** out of me though if those pitchers are as good as Beane thinks they are. Whatever, it appears we got a good player (centerfielder?) and to go with the new set up man we are making progress assuming our sluggers (JT, Paul, AJP, Dye) aren't over the hill.
  22. Nice to get an everday player so many of you say is good. I'll trust you that we got a good player. Do you think Sweeney is going to be a good major leaguer? I officially am in favor of the trade FWIW and I realize my blessing ain't worth much more than a cup of coffee.
  23. I wonder how old this guy really is. I wonder how baseball execs get to the bottom of age. You'd think KW has a clause in there that says contract is void if you are proven NOT to be the age you profess. That clip looked good but his face did not look like that of a 20-something.
  24. I think one of the reasons KC wanted him is the Erstad factor. He killed the Royals when they met in interleague play. Killed 'em.
