Players only Team meeting after the game
The Sox were not a "fluke" in 05. The baseball season is too long for any champ to be labeled a fluke. The team survived the season and dominated the postseason. It was a great team and the pitching only got better as the postseason progressed. It was perfection, not a fluke. He is a moron for saying that. No, there was no dynasty. The team was one and done, but it was not a fluke.

MAKE A TRADE
I think Irish is right. It's time to replan for next year. This team has only one chance to finish respectable this year. To start blasting home run after home run to go with our starting pitching. ---- Isn't it strange to have the season pretty much over in early June? Poor Thome. The Sox haven't done squat since Big Jim arrived. He doesn't deserve this.

White Sox vs. Astros, 6/9/07 (L)
You said it all Irish. The offense is beyond embarrassing. We're done in early June. Amazing.
-
When will the next banner fly?
Oh, it's gonna be a while. Good thing the Sox took care of business in the postseason 2 years ago. The Sox are like the 85 Bears; one and done. But at least we got the one.

White Sox vs. Astros, 6/8/07 (L)
Blow it up. We suck.
-
That's it, blow the whole f***ing thing up
The problem is, what do we blow up? With injuries, we're playing Fields, Owens, Terrero. We got no minor league ss to replace Uribe do we? If we trade starters, we'll just be weak there to go with our weak bullpen. So what do we do? Trade Dye for what? Trade Mark B for what? Remember the talk of dynasty after we won it all? That seems so stupid right now.

Bullpen
Sorry to start a new thread but ... are you kidding me? How can this be happening? Worst bullpen in modern history?

The Greg Walker Lynch mob thread
And Dye, Thome, AJ, Uribe, Iguchi, Paulie don't suck?

2007 White Sox Catch-All Thread
Serious question. is anybody else worried that a loss tonight coupled with Cleveland's automatic win against the crap Royals has pretty much eliminated the Sox from the division race the first week of June? Are we only playing for a wild card the rest of the way? We knew the division would be tough but to be close to eliminated in June?

The Greg Walker Lynch mob thread
Now with Crede out, it only figures to get worse production wise. I have a question for those who get to go to the home games. Is the Cell a morgue with our lineup so horrible? Are people visibly frustrated? Booing? Sarcastic? Or do they just expect Dye to pop up and Paulie to whiff and AJ to pop up and thome to hit it right on the ground at somebody playing him perfectly in the shift? Just curious. Or is everybody just happy to be at the park watching a game? I'd think the lack of runs and the bullpen being the worst in baseball would make fans on edge at the Cell.

The Irony Of This Forum
I was never crazy about the Royals rejects in the pen. But I assumed we'd be OKafter readin how gret our bullpen was by all the experts in the magazines as well as being convinced by those on here. MacDougal sucks.

The Reason This Team is Bad, and Yes: It's Ozzie's Fault
That is the line of the season. You can't win without talent. Period. I hope somehow the team can start hitting home runs in bunches because that's the only way the Sox have a chance at contending for wild card. That is assuming the starting pitching stays this good.
-
Joe Crede to 15 day DL, Josh Fields called up from AAA.
The guy isn't healthy. Why won't people give him a break. His fielding alone has made him incredibly valuable. Another guy who we wouldn't have won a World Series if he wsn't in the lineup. To the person who said they are excited about Crede injured ... my gosh, please get a life.
-
Joe Crede to 15 day DL, Josh Fields called up from AAA.
I hope he is ready because as has been discussed so much, Crede's back problem isn't going away this season. Poor guy may need that scary surgery in offseason. You'd think it'd affect his future earnings. His back problem is gonna kill his hope for a big money deal.
-
rowand to the sox?
People, MacDougal is no good. I mean if the Sox keep him I hope he stays in the minor 2 more seasons with Sisco because the guy is not a championship caliber pitcher. He is inconsistent, wild. He is no good.

clearing out our bullpen
I don't know what they can do. I'd ship Aardsma and MacD and bring up whomever to replace them.

The Armchair GM Thread
Fine, but as that type of fan, do you want KW and/or Ozzie fired? That would be ridiculously stupid after both were instrumental in the Sox title. Take a look at the video of Reinsdorf celebrating with Oz and KW after that title. It is insane to think either would be fired so soon after giving Chicago it's only World Series title in 70 years.

The General Manager's Guide to Power Arms and Grinders
I hope Kenny has tired of these pitchers 6-foot-5 and taller. They tend to suck.
-
The Armchair GM Thread
Why can't people listen to southside irish? He's right! Why would any Sox fan want KW or Ozzie fired? You think the Sox are going to win it every year? They brought us a title. They aren't dumb. They are going to realize many of these current players suck and they will adjust. I disagree with a lot of their moves of late (acquiring the Royals rejects) but a year and a half removed from the title and many want their scalps. Like he said, get a clue people.
-
LMAO
It's not funny but this team is going nowhere. The bullpen isn't going to magically turn around. Only hope actually would be for KW to try to magically make a great trade to acquire some veteran middle relief (I know it's not available) and/or get an outfielder of note like some of you have suggested for weeks. The starting pitching is good enough to contend; nothing else is.
-
White Sox vs. Blue Jays, 6/03/07 (L)
Is the Sox bullpen the worst in baseball history? Except for Bobby.
-
Who is Worse Right Now?
Let's acquire Wakefield and bring up Haeger and let them pitch middle relief every single day.
-
I can't blame Ozzie anymore....this is ALL on Kenny
I'm all for change, but the Sox wouldn't have been any worse had they kept all the players from the world championship team instead of the tinkering they've done. The players we've acquired with the exception of Jim Thome haven't done squat. And as much as I like Thome, don't you all agree he's no longer capable of carrying a lineup? He's getting older and definitely hasn't hit many homes in bunches this season. I'm surprised anybody would want Oz and/or KW fired however. Again ... they led us to a World Series title. This franchise and this city hasn't done squat with the exception of the Oz-KW led title season.
-
I can't blame Ozzie anymore....this is ALL on Kenny
It's really the curse of the Royals when you think about it. Sox brass thought MacDougal and Sisco would be vital cogs in a world championship bullpen and both really truly are worthless just like the KC franchise.

I can't blame Ozzie anymore....this is ALL on Kenny
Great post. There is nothing Ozzie can do. If the White Sox organization wants to fire the only manager in about 9 decades to lead a Chicago baseball team to a world title, go ahead and be the laughingstock of baseball. Talent plus chemistry plus some luck in one run games equals success. The Sox do not have the talent to compete. My gawd. Our outfield is a total joke. Our bullpen may be the worst in baseball except for Jenks. And our sluggers are having the opposite of what would be called career years. Great post. It is mostly on Kenny. I wouldn't fire him either, though, personally, I'd just try to regroup and hope we catch onto something in the future. Go ahead and fire Ozzie if it makes you feel better. It will not matter just as Piniella is not mattering for the Flubs.
