  1. Yes that is a good point. I just thought it would have been nice to see him be the Sox player to smash a key hit yesterday or today. He had a couple chances to steal the headlines and he made weak outs just like the rest of his teammates.
  2. Come back and post after the trade is made. I envision the Sox getting 3 "top prospects" minor leaguers for Mark. Let's see if we get "quality position players" back. I hope we do; I don't see it. No contender is going to give up good everyday players for Mark. They are contenders because those other guys are doing well. No non contender will want him as he approaches free agency.
  3. That's what scares me. I'd rather tinker and trade a couple guys like Dye and Jose and our hors*** relievers like Thornton and MacDougal and be buyers in free agency. The minute we trade Mark we're just another Royals.
  4. What do you all think of Fields after his first week or so of regular playing time? Is he a certain star or just another guy? I will not crucify him because he's actually had some hits, unlike Anderson when he got his first chance ... but Fields really had a chance to make an immediate impact and be a fan favorite in several plate appearances against the Cub. And he, like his teammates, couldn't get the clutch hit. To those who were happy Crede went on the DL ... do you have the same feeling about Fields you had a week or so ago? Just asking, because the unknown always appears better than the known. On a side note, have you ever seen a team in a 3 game series at home against a rival have so few impact hits? I mean nobody slashed any shots into the gaps, nobody hit the ball over the fence, it was strike out after strike out, bad at bat after bad at bat. It was like 3 days of hell in the Sox's own ballpark nonetheless.
  5. Just somewhere in the front office or in Class A or Double A or to the scouting department. Don't fire him in respect for his past contributions. Reassign him and make him the scapegoat.
  6. Yep. That is what a good fan is supposed to do. A good fan, however, also can moan and groan and sell their tickets 'cause this has been playing some really bad, historically bad baseball. But anybody who totally abandons this team is what they call a front runner. This is embarrassing and sick to watch, but a true fan won't totally abandon ship. They will b**** and groan and drink themselves to oblivion, but not wear paper bags over their heads like that moron asshole shown on WGN today. Hey bagman, did you have that bag over your head when the Sox won the World Series? Get a grip, man.
  7. Trade Jose. Keep Mark.
  8. I wouldn't fire him, I'd reassign him. The players are the ones with the most pathetic at bats of their careers. Konerko and Thome couldn't get a hit when it mattered against the Cubs making their pitchers look like Cy Young winners. When Crede was healthy he couldn't hit this year. AJ hasn't hit; Dye hasn't hit. Iguchi hasn't hit. These are veterans. ITS THEIR FAULT! That said, reassign Walker and let somebody else get ripped on here for the Sox awful hitting.
  9. I have a problem with comments like this. Who do you "want" to pitch for the White Sox? Do you think there are tons of great pitchers out there we are going to acquire in these trades?? If the Sox tear up this rotation that will weaken the only strength of the team this year. The Royals have proven a team can suck for 10 years, not just one year.
  10. Not a bad essay. However, it would be nice to get a middle reliever NOW. Somebody, anybody. I agree not to panic and trade too many guys. Dye and Contreras would be good to deal. But Dye's health may scare off teams and Contreras is not exactly a stud anymore. He looks like he's about 10 years older than his listed age as well. However I agree, leave Mike Fox alone. I feel sorry for him.
  11. Well said. I can't argue with that. But I kind of like the guy and at least this season, he, Frank and Maggs would all be looking good in White Sox jerseys. I said "this season." I realize we won it all 2 years ago.
  12. I guess. It's just amazing to me we can't score more than 2 runs a game. What about Cliff Floyd? I'd take him at this point for a couple months.
  13. Some people love Rowand. Get over it. Some people would like him back. Get over it.
  14. We need a month long all star break. Wow. What penance must we serve to the baseball gods who are pissed we won it all two years ago.
  15. Hawk made a good point today. Baseball people realize Ozzie and Piniella are good managers. Moronotti does not and thinks both should be fired. DJ said to that, "baseball people" leaving out Moronotti. Ozzie is a good manager. His talent sucks right now. Thus we lose almost every night out. It is disgraceful KW can't get a decent middle reliever to go with this awesome starting staff and good closer. To waste this starting pitching is ridiculous. And when he saw the lineup had plenty of guys having down years, he should have found us a spare part somewhere in a deal like a Cliff Floyd or Ethier or somebody. I don't want KW fired, but he has done a piss poor job this season, not Oz.
  16. That makes sense, but with this lineup, we are going to lose a maddening amount of games the rest of THIS season. It is embarrassing. Surely they can figure out a way to dump him after the season. It's Jerry's money anyway and he deserves a 5 mill penalty for this crap we're watching now.
  17. Why shouldn't we pick up Jacque Jones as long as it's for some stiff prospect? He's better than the trash we're throwing out there every day. I don't want to lose 9 of 10 games the rest of the season and Jones is better than the crap we have in the outfield right now assuming Dye is hurt.
  18. Man, I don't know about that. I know you mean when the team is healthy, but those ragarms in the bullpen are not champ. caliber. Buckwich is no better than Buckwheat. I don't know why the Sox are wasting their time with that guy. I watched today's game for the most part. I have never in my life (except in other Sox games this year) seen so many horrific at bats. Even Jimmy and Konerko. So bad. Fields was OK but then it's time for him to get the big hit. Sorry, tap to third. It's like Murphy's Law every single day. I realize I'm about to get murdered here, but how about Buckwich to the Cub for Jacque Jones and trade some prospect or MacDougal to the Dodgers for Ethier. Ethier and Jones would be better than what we have now, assuming Dye is to be DLed. Be nice when you flame me. I'm as frustrated as everybody else on here and can make dumb trade ideas as well.
  19. Why does a firesale work for you? You really think trading 5-6 of these underachievers are going to bring difference makers this time of year?
  20. I agree Dick Allen. It sure looks scary right now for a lot of reasons.
  21. You might be right, but I watched the replay closely and it looked to me like after he initially moved back like a lot of outfielders do when balls are slugged their way, he took the correct route to the ball. It was a pretty good catch I thought. Not that I think he should be a member of the Sox, but I thought it was a nice grab.
  22. Highlight of the game: Erstad's catch in the first. Oops ... he gets hurt on the play. Just as well he would have not had a hit off Zambastard, either. Nice hustle, though. I appreciate the effort from Erstad, who should have been our fourth outfielder this year. He'd have been better in that role than Mack, who also can't hit. That was one great catch, though. Nice grab Mr. Erstad, good hustle on the play as well. That said, this team is disgracefully bad. I don't see how the Sox are going to avoid having the worst record in baseball by the end of the season. There is no possible recipe for success. Paulie and Thome can't hit home runs this season, and even if they start to, there will be nobody on base for those blasts to be anything but one-run shots. Dye appears next for the DL. AJ is having his first bad season as a member of the Sox and doesn't figure to start hitting. Iguchi appears lost; Uribe can't hit. And even if our very effective starting pitchers continue to pitch well, our bullpen will be unable to hold any 1-2 run lead. We're all being paid back by the baseball gods for the joy of October two years ago.
  23. That was one heckuva catch at least. You are all right. He should have been a fourth outfielder. He'd have been better in that role than Mack, who also can't hit. That was one great catch, though. Nice grab Mr. Erstad, good hustle on the play as well.
  24. The Sox will next win 10 in a row ... -- Before the Cubs win a World Championship. -- Before the Royals win a World Championship. -- Before Paris Hilton turns middle age. But it won't be coming anytime soon.
  25. So what. This same Crede gave us a World Championship. Tough crowd on here.
