I am thinking you are right. Even though Anderson has yet to hit, I would prefer playing him over Erstad. I don't know why KW went the Erstad route this offseason. The only hope is that like somebody on here said, offense is down all over the league. Soriano has yet to get a big hit for the Cub. Let's just assume it's the weather. Oh yes and Iguchi must be moved to the No. 2 hole ASAP or trade him. His is disgracefully bad deep down in the order.

AJ may be hitting horribly, but this Molina guy hasn't shown signs of being able to hit even .200 has he? Does the guy even have a hit yet? Rock ... I agree the name players you mentioned have to have decent seasons but I would not include Erstad in there. I'm pretty convinced he is going to have a horrible offensive year at least as far as batting average.

Are the Sox going to lose to Sabathia and Sowers and Santana every time we face them? Kenny Rogers must be so sad he can't win 5 games against the Sox this season unless he gets well soon. It's going to get to the point where fans might start eating their tickets when the schedule shows a lefty is going to work at the Cell. This is getting ridiculous. Hope it's the cold weather. I know it's early but our offense looks putrid. Are any of you actually optimistic about the season? Can we blame it all on the cold weather? Maybe we can.

Capn12, Oz deserves a free pass for a while because of the Series title. I just think when people criticize Oz it should be Oz/KW both. KW works closely with Oz, no?

That has to be our lineup. It's the only option. Play Erstad once in a while instead of BA in the nine slot. Play Ozuna once in a while for Pods. I wonder what scouts thought Erstad was still a productive major league hitter. I realize it's cold out and it's possible he could heat up but he's brutal right now and the Sox lineup has been totally lifeless.

Obviously Oz hates Brian. If we keep Oz, we need to dump Brian. Oz is soon gonna hate Erstad as well if he continues to hit like this. Hopefully we can keep playing .500ish ball until it gets warm and our home runs start coming from Dye, Konerko, Crede, AJ, Thome and Uribe.

Time to move Iguchi back to the two hole. Now. Erstad is really really over the hill. Does anybody actually envision him hitting .240 this year? You are right. We are a station to station team and are going nowhere unless the weather heats up soon and we start knocking the ball out of the park. We are a home run hitting team, nothing else.

Of course no need to panic but I am not impressed. Erstad looks worse at the plate to start the year than BA did a year ago. Or just as bad. And Iguchi is pathetic right now. Crede has been bad and our big bats are doing nothing with the exception of Dye of late. No need to panic, but we're not exactly playing good baseball. Today we got some guys on base and not once could anybody pick up the team and knock in a run. I'd give us a C about now.

I hope the Royals aren't competitive against the Sox again this year like they were last year. Once again they look like a horrible horrible team. I didn't realilze Randa was that hate-able.

I wouldn't call Old Comiskey a sad tired relic of graffiti and trash. That's the team's fault if it didn't keep the place in better shape. Trash is trash wherever it's thrown. The neighborhood was bad. You are correct. In fact you had to pay kids hovering in the lots to "watch" your car or you'd come out with 4 flat tires. Just like some are saying if you have a good seat in the Cell it's great ... if you had a good seat in Old Comiskey it was amazing. My dad had 4 season tickets in about the fifth row just to the left of the screen and I took my friends to all games he didn't want to go to with his downtown coworkers. We went to a lot of games and nightly I was amazed at how we were right on the action. I'll never forget the sound of bat on ball at that old park. I need to move back to chicago and see more games at the Cell. It sounds like it's getting more lovable every year. I hope so. I would hope those who disparage Old Comiskey also think Wrigley is a total dump, cause Wrigley still is standing. Why would you hate Joe Randa? First of all he's not good enough to hate. Second of all he's always smiling. Why hate that guy? He's harmless. I second the notion on Clayton. I hated him when he was a Sox cause of his being an automatic out. I can envision starting to despise Erstad if he continues to be an easy out. If he does maybe I'll blame KW more than Erstad. He does seem to try. Clayton was a bum IMO.

Can we win a pennant with Erstad? He's hitting like most of the offseason talk on here indicated he would. Not well.

Maybe Pablo would be better. I'm not all that high on him either, but I guess he's better than Gload was. Seriously why would Oz not have Iguchi bat second?? This is ridiculous and he and KW have ruined our order with this 1-2 crap. You wait ... Iguchi will be batting second again before long.

I could anger everybody by saying our OF hasn't been the same since the loss of ... Rowand. I better duck on that statement. Would everybody agree our first eight games have not been too encouraging?

I'd rather have anderson in than Erstad but it's not like Anderson is Willie Mays reincarnated. We needed a better offseason upgrade than Erstad don't you think?? And blame Oz all you want, but Jenks sucked. And the offense was pitiful, simply pitiful. Three hits? There's plenty of blame to go around. So what if Pods' defense was a total laughinstock? There are other reasons we lost besides Oz/Pods. It could be closer by committee soon. Poor Bobby. No heat.

We may still have a great season. It still probably will all depend on pitching, but does anybody else think our offseason tinkering stunk? Burn me at the stake but I am not an Erstad fan.

There are TVs in the press room so the media probably is watching it more and more on TV as well being up so high. They'll get used to it. It's a sign of the times like with colleges ripping out press row and putting big time donors right on the court. That's going to blow up in the colleges' faces, however, when one of those fan donors attacks a ref or opposing player. It's going to happen someday. I think a fan taking a poke at an opposing player more likely than popping a ref.

Kong sure looked frustrated after his last at bat, the line out to rf. It's hard to believe one pitcher (Johan) can be so dominant against us. Is this gonna continue all year and for years to come? I hate to be an ass, but for some reason I'm not a big Erstad fan. Just not. At least our pitching was good again today. So there's hope. But I think you all have to admit it wasn't a good homestand.
